  1. To quote ToupeeOnFire in today's game thread.... "Glendon the Hutt"
  2. Pirates tie it up in the 4th....3-3...
  3. Kerry Wood - "Long, Slow Goodbye" by Queens of the Stone Age Dusty Baker - "Waiting for the Worms" by Pink Floyd Rich Hill - "You Sure Love to [Throw] Ball" by Marvin Gaye
  4. My god. Just one day after Rusch "pitches". @#$@ing ridiculous. You'll be gratified to hear he also talked about having to make a decision between Guzman and Marmol (hard to hear since he was practically mumbling at this point). In other words, instead of tossing Glendon the Hutt out on his rear, one of those icky AAA/AA guys will be sent back down. Oh my god that's friggin' hilarious. I think I just woke up my housemates laughing at that.
  5. If anything, Thomas has always been against steriods because of the fact he lost an MVP award to Giambi, who coincidentally, was using steriods. Thomas was freakishly big when he first started in the early 90s. Sort of like the Fridge in 1985.
  6. HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA. Oh boy, always count on Dusty for a laugh. Maybe in 2004 I'd believe that Dusty. Which is why we scored only one run until a meaningless 2 run 9th? My god. Just one day after Rusch "pitches". @#$@ing ridiculous.
  7. Good news today is that Juan Pierre was 2-4 with a walk. Anything to increase his trade value is great.
  8. At a certain point once I've realized we've lost a game (sixth inning today), I almost happy to be getting blown out like this. Certainly makes a bad case for keeping the coaches (sans Spiers) around.
  9. What's he saying? But then Brenly came back and played devil's advocate. ....and some people want him to be the new Cub manager. He is far too Dustyish for my liking. I'm not sure I agree. He may have just been playing devil's advocate, as they often do on baseball talk shows.
  10. As good as he's looked, I hope Marmol is sent down. After being called up straight from AA I think he needs the development time the most. Yep. Not that it changes the Cubs fortunes much.
  11. What's he saying? To paraphrase: *When looking at numbers, even with low RISP, if you get enough runners on base, you can drive them in *Cubs need to more patient and work counts *If the Cubs improve OBP, they will score more runs, you can be good at RISP but bad at OBP and not score many runs But then Brenly came back and played devil's advocate.
  12. Holy crap, Len is taking Hendry's "low RISP" argument to the trash can!!!
  13. Over/under on pitches this inning: 13. Under.
  14. Expect Dusty to complain about annoucers soon.
  15. Oh wait, WHY am I still watching? Fixed. PS. How embarassing is the fact that there are so many Tigers fans here today? I'm afraid for the Cards/Cubs games later this year...
  16. Over/under of how long this current losing streak last? 3 days?
  17. I'm not liking how hard those balls are hit off of Marmol.... :?
  18. Bollocks to this crap.
  19. I will watch this game not because I expect the Cubs to win, but because I'm excited about watching these pitching prospects.
  20. I thought we were slated to start Johnson for sure? Maybe he's gonna be a boost substitution?
  21. Honestly, I'm really not sure Ghana played that well, too many offsides, and they literally threw away that goal where he got called offsides 10 feet in front of the goal. If Ghana were playing even a little bit better it would have been 4-0. Or if Cech hadn't been playing as well.
