  1. No! Quinn was/is the coolest coach in America. Stupid Missouri, now the bragin rights game will actually have to be played again.
  2. I always wondered, how did chris sabo win his over mark grace?
  3. Man @tOSU, Mich, and MSU is going to be brutal. I hope we get 1 of those.
  4. Man oh man that loss against psu is gonna haunt us when there is like a 6 team tie in the big ten. carmody pwns alford.
  5. Until one of them doesn anything at the big league level there is no sense losing any sleep over this pick. After all we could have picked Jeff Allison, staying with the great prospect pitchers. I disagree, these prospects do have trade value and a better prospect would give us the chance to net a better major leaguer. yes and no, yes they do have value. no way would we be trading lastings though so what value would he have the club until he does something, anything at the big league level. The Mets thought so highly of him they went out and drastically overpaid for Carlos Beltran to block him for years to come.
  6. I had heard about it a couple times, yes. What I haven't heard of, though, is what in the world Cabrera has done that makes him a jerk. I thought he was fairly likeable? He could be a jerk on our team anyday of the week and I would be cool with it.
  7. He sucked with crap around him. You don't think he could have given Duke maybe 5 minutes a game with all of that talent around him just to spell Shelden? I know he isn;t ideal, but how many teams can back up all five spots with stars?
  8. So wait, I don't get it. You're blaming Duke for going out and getting good players? No thats fine, but I fault the logic of feeling sorry for them for not having any depth like many here do. Who feels sorry for them? I think it's an indictment of Coach K. He can get all those McD AA guys, but he can't find anyone that can backup Williams for how many years? Maybe he has some philosophical reason for wanting to play a short bench, but anytime Williams gets in foul trouble they're in a huge bind. Everyone was going on about how they would be good if they had depth, K doesn't want depth. He did the same thing with Boozer. Casey Sanders was a mcdaa he could have helped some. Now Michael Thompson could have played for them, but he didn't produce in year 1 so he was gone. Hell just this year he has all those wings, then he gets Gerald Henderson and Jon Scheyer. So he goes after another shooting guard the next year in eric gordon, misses him so he takes the number 2 shooting guard. Why? Why not go get a couple of bigs and have some depth? I really question his thinking.
  9. So wait, I don't get it. You're blaming Duke for going out and getting good players? No thats fine, but I fault the logic of feeling sorry for them for not having any depth like many here do. Coach K has played this way since his last great team with magette, brand, and avery. Thats why I think he can't get as far as he used to and will never beat uconn again. uconn plays like 10 guys who are all huge and can all ball.
  10. Duke has two mcdaas coming off of the bench when Melchionni starts. The rest of America should have so many depth issues. ](*,) Just like last year with 5 mcdaas Coach K was doing his best job yet. The love Duke gets is just ridiculous. Poor Duke, I wonder what other coaches could do with Demarcus Nelson and Josh McRoberts coming off of their benches? I sure wish Bruce Weber could find out.
  11. Gallery is way cooler. I still have asigned Daily Iowan of him student teaching with his long hair. Plus I lived on the same floor as him in college his first year when he was redshirting. We always thought he was too big to be a tight end.
  12. I liked Loul Deng and Jay Williams also. I think it is ignorant to have a no name football player as your signature. Especially when Robert Gallery would be much cooler. What? Wow. That made A LOT of sense. The point I was trying to make was that they get tha calls also because they are white. He thinks that is ignorant. I think it is easy to think that the ncaa wants a bunch of white guys doing very well as it goes against the image the nba has, which many contribute to the lack of interest in the product the nba puts out. Bob Sanders is a no name, many people don't know who he is. To have him in your signature saying things about how he is going to hurt Jim Hendry for thinking about trrading Prior is ignorant.
  13. In Utah and Houston and wherever the hell Jack is. Isn't Jack playing in Crete or Italy or something? Or am I thinking of someone else? He is playing somewhere, but I cannot remember where. Either way if we had Deron back with our schedule we are probably undefeated again at this point.

  15. I missed the beginning of Bilas's bit, but he went off on how the end of the BC game was a bad call, but that it was isolated. He was getting kinda upset, with the "unless someone can step forward with empirical evidence or a coach steps up" bit, even though I'm pretty sure there is said evidence that Duke gets calls. Vitale blabbered about how they get all the good players, which makes no sense. He also said that they always slash and attack the basket, which to my brief knowledge appears wrong as well. Phelps hardly said anything. Jay here is some facts. Duke plays three guards, shoots a majority of threes, and plays in your face defense. Those three things are what makes them similar in style to Illinois. Illinois usually fouls more than the team they are playing because they shoot so much on the outside and play good defense. Why wouldn't this then apply to Duke, oh whats that, because they are Duke and all white guys so they get every call. Ok that makes more sense. You don't think a lot of the Duke hate has to do with race? I sure do. It seems to me their most hated players that get every call are all white. Hurley, Laettner, Ferry, Redick, Parks, Dunleavy, and of course Battier. I think all their players get all the calls. I'm not even sure what you are trying to say here. Battier I was trying to make a joke. I think or thought it was common knowledge most duke players were hated because they are white. I mean after all Redick even said that Paulus would be next because he was, "another great, white Duke player that everyone would hate." Maybe that isn't the only reason why people hate them, but it seems like it to me. On the calls, I still think race plays some of an issue with them. I could be way off, but it seems like it to me anyways.

  20. Last time I checked, Augestine is a senior now. Yeah I am aware. I am also aware he has cost us a national championship with his disappearing act. You would think a senior would play better than that. Every game in the last three years we have lost was because he was in foul trouble. Every single one. Oh please, it wasn't only his fault that we lost the NC game. And don't give me that crap about him being the fault we have lost every game in the last three years. That's not true and you know it. James Augustine was a cause in us losing the national championship game but not the cause. Shooting 27% in the first half was the cause of us losing the national championship. Augustine is really not better now than he was his sophomore year and I'm somewhat of an Augustine fan. He will go down, in my opinion, with Richard Keene and Larry Smith as the biggest Illinois basketball underachievers. Anybody who doesn't think Illinois' success rests largely on Augustine being on the floor, hasn't watched Illinois basketball, particularly the Wisconsin game. And as I told people at the beginning of the season, Dee Brown is not a leader. He's a good player and the best interview, but he's not a leader. Yeah, I miss Williams, Head and Powell, but, honestly, I think we might be undefeated (at most one loss) if we had Jack "the most underrated player last year" Ingram. Amen to that. In all of the close games Jack made a ton of the big plays. Look at the Arizona game. Strangley enough James had fouled out early, Jack comes in and makes every big play down the stretch.
  21. Let me tell you what happened. Illinois started 13-0 Dee and McBride jumped around pointed at PSU, then we coaxed. Up 14 at half. The Randle and Augustine decide to get in one of your guys face. Then we don't review the clock when Smith is fouled with 2.6sec. the clock sets at 2.2. McBride makes a shot a.0001 of a second to late. We deserve the loss though as we mailed it in. sounds exciting. Surprising that the clock thing wasn't reviewed....you'd think the Illini would get home court advantage on that sort of decision Ah they didn't argue, they deserved to lose. They took you guys for granted and then tried to act all superior and lost as a result of it. I cannot believe that Dee let this happen. I would not want to be in practice with them tomorrow.

Ok then I guess it is ok for the guy to not improve his entire 4 years with us. In fact I would say he has regressed. He used to shoot threes decent as a freshman. Lets see The Ohio State game we lost because they pwned us on the boards and we couldn't guard Dials. The national championship game we lose as he doesn't score and wastes two fouls against Felton over ten feet from the hoop. The Iowa game, well ok that one we got handed to us, but again he was in foul trouble. The Indiana game, he sats almost half the game that we lose by two withed you guessed it foul trouble. Then this game, where he has a 5 inch advantage on every guy on the court he is in foul trouble the entire time and outta position on the crucial rebound. Yeah The guy is a waste of talent.

  24. Last time I checked, Augestine is a senior now. Yeah I am aware. I am also aware he has cost us a national championship with his disappearing act. You would think a senior would play better than that. Every game in the last three years we have lost was because he was in foul trouble. Every single one. He only had 3 fouls today, and even if they were all early(don't know, didn't see the game), the problems appeared to come in the second half. He had four fouls, thus he sat when they cut the lead from 11 to -1 The ESPN.com box score lists him as having just 3 fouls Well I watched it and he sat, and the announcers said he had four fouls several times.
