    We get it. You love Ramirez. What is wrong about acquiring a pretty good MI prospect and getting a top of the rotation guy? I would do this trade. Lock urior rebounds and our staff is young and good again.

    He was only 5 games over .500. With the team we had I think most pitchers could have done pretty well. Hell even Rusch was pretty good that year for us. Either way this argument should be irrelevant as it was over two years ago and both Maddux and the team have gotten worse.

We most likely would have been below 500 in 04 without him... but its not about us... its about the fact that the team he would be traded to feels they wont make the playoffs without him.No we wouldn't have, We could have put any number of guys in that spot and still have been over. You do realize we were better in '04 than in '03, right? no we werent........ not with the injuries to prior and woodYes we were, we won one more game even with the injuries. Ramirez was better than Lenny Harris. Lee was better than Eric Karros. We won 89 games in '04 and only 88 in '03.

    Since a trade is a possibility, it is very well possible it was a way of allowing him to get on the mound and be romoved for another and possible final ovation. Which in the grand scheme of things, with us being 20 games out, I have no problem with.
