  1. I really hope you are right. I guess you have more confidence than me. I really wish someone, anybody would tell Brian Randle that night in night out he's the best athlete on the floor. For the most part, our guard play has sucked. And injuries have no part in the number of turnovers we have and our poor free-throw shooting. I'm glad Izzo didn't start fouling with 2 minutes left on Tuesday or we might have lost that game. I don't see how we win in Bloomington or Iowa City, though. Um why don't you try having your growing cut into then come back early. Then get the Pujols thing on your feet. Then I am gonna tell you to be athletic. He is hurt what do you expect from a guy who is hurt? He is giving us more than Wood or Prior have in their quarter seasons. Oh we beat them by scoring more than them.
  2. They should have done this with Gordon vs. Rose. That would have been a game, this was a joke. Oh and MJ looks old, makes me feel old.
  3. I can't wait till this weekend, Love's game will be carried by Fox Sports. 43 points thus far sure is impressive, but Gordon and Love are different types of players. Why your team is great right now, why do you care about a high school kid. :D
  4. No Rose's team beat the number 1 team in america
  5. Starts putting it together means not playing like dogs***? You honestly expected the Illinois team that played Purdue to be the team that showed up the rest of the year? Again reverse the situations, (following ILLINOIS BEATING INDIANA)"unless Indiana starts putting it together, I think they lose at Iowa, Purdue, Michigan, and MSU" You'd laugh your ass off and probably come up with some new Eric Gordon factoid. To consider a team's true talent level based one game is ridiculous, especially when you just saw them play a better game 4 days earlier against your own [expletive] team. Why are you getting so pissy over my prediction that U of I will lose 3 more games? Watch them play. It is very possible. And again, you didn't say it was possible. Possible means it's not impossible for it to happen. Your predicting means you deem it likely, which is absurd. Yes, after watching the Illini all year I think it is likely they lose 3 more times. Great good for you. I predict you will be on probation in a few years. Therefore it must be true. After all I have seen Kelvin Sampson in action. I never said that I guarantee UI will lose all three. I said I think they will. I never said because I think it, it must be true. You guys are getting all worked up over nothing. It was a prediction. I even said you could disregard it if you want to because I don't like U of I. GAME UPDATE: EJ is good! 43 points so far. At this point I disreguard most of what you say. Sans the Gordon is good part. I'd cry about that, but we both know Illini fans are much better at crying. Yep. Well that and cheering for a team that produces pros. College championships are better than pros. At any cost apparently.
  6. The reality is that most schools are so similar that top players like this really sign with a coach instead of a school. You're right though-Gordon and his dad had the responsibility of informing Weber. They were the ones who made the verbal committment, and they were the ones who re-opened the commitment. That was a mistake-the sad part is to see the fanatics in the UI fanbase make a mistake as well by doing things like threatening Gordon. No side is completely clean on this one unfortunately. In this case, if he truly signed with the coach then why didn't he commit to OU while Sampson was there? Or even have OU on his top list? It's just my belief that Sampson or someone from his staff contacted Gordon after his verbal. From my understanding it's an unwritten rule to not contact players after they have made a verbal commitment. It is in the big ten. That's where the controversy starts. KS also hired like three guys as coaches or film instructors with direct connections to Eric's family. The whole thing was pretty much disgusting for a guy who used to chair the ethics committee for the NCAA.

  9. Man Love can't be better than this kid.

Thank you a reasonable, mature thought from an IU fan.

The threat things are way overblown. EJ himself said they were threats of hoping he flops as a basketball player.

  13. The Coach, having gone through the process you have to have a coach you feel comfortable with. Now I didn't do it at that level, so that may skew things a bit.

That said I wouldn't predict it.
  15. Thank you Doug, he did handle it very poorly.
  16. That was a bad loss for the Cats, but they have also stuck with UW and OSU at home for most of those games, so it's not like they are always that bad. They've also let bad Western Michigan, Miami, and Loyola MD teams stick with them on their home court, not to mention a 1 point win over 0-20 vs. D1 N. Florida and a 2 point win over D3 Wheaton College. They have 3 losses to sub-150 RPI teams, 2 of them at home the other a blowout against Penn St. They have one win against a top 100 team, that being Depaul(69) the 2nd game of the year. You didn't like the rest of my post? I didn't like the rest of your post because it didn't apply to what I was talking about. Illinois against Purdue was one of their worst performances of the year, and definitely their worst of Big 10 play. Yes, if Illinois plays their worst game of the year, they could easily lose to NU, but you predicted UI to lose to NU, you never said anything about they better not play like crap again, or if NU gets hot, it was a flat out prediction, and it's kind of absurd. if I said IU is going to lose to Iowa on Saturday because you know how tough road games are in the Big 10, additionally Indiana looked terrible against U of I, you'd call me out for complete BS, and you'd be completely right. And that's with an Iowa team that hasn't looked nearly as incompetent as NU lately. You need to read better. He is my exact post... "I'm an IU fan, I don't like U of I, if you want to disregard my opinion because of that, feel free to do so. Unless U of I starts putting it together I think they lose at NU, and IU, and at Iowa. Unless you are UW or OSU road wins are still really tough in this conference." We will win 2 of the 3 I would guess.
  17. I hope this is as good as his career gets. Good luck with that. Kelvin Torbert Bracey Wright, it has happened before. That said I don't think it will here. Gordon is much higher regarded than Bracey. I don't remember the Torbert hype, so I won't comment on how highly he was though of. EJ would be a top 10 pick if he could go pro right now. At no point in his life was Bracey a top 10 pick. Plus, I know this is a high school game, but EJ has gone to the basket more times tonight than Bracey did his whole career in college. Torbert was thought to be pretty much the best HS player in the nation coming out of High School. While he had a fine career at Michigan State(I think he went to 2 Final Fours), his performance definitely didn't match his hype. By his senior year he was second fiddle to Chris Hill and Alan Anderson. Gotcha. Well, it's always a possibility, but I would not bet on it with Gordon. By the way he now has 26 points with 2 min left in the first half. His season average of 33.8 points per game on 60% FG's is about to go up. But, no one would have bet on it with Torbert either. It is a high school game, he is so much stronger than all these kids. I can't believe how fast he is is combined with the strength. I just think you are grasping at straws hoping he will be a "Torbert". I understand it is only a high school game, I don't expect him to put up 28 in a half in college. We wouldn't be having this conversation if he was Illini bound, the kid is just very special. He is strong, he is fast, he has a great inside game, and he has a great outside game. Game Update: Halftime: EJ has 28 points, 3 rebounds, 11-16 from the field. North Central up big on Loyola 50-27. No crap, you think he would be this great to you if the situation was reversed. I am sure if it was though ESPN would blur the facts to make us look good too. I wonder if he shows up when we play at Illinois next year or if he petitions to have it moved like he did this game? The kid has great basketball skills and lacks social morals and makes poor choices. HAHA. Cry me a river. Look at the big ten standings and tell me how he made a poor choice? If he decided to go to Illinois I would have been very disappointed, but I wouldn't have been saying he might be a bust in college. The guy is obviously legit. He made a decision to go to his favorite school once they hired a real coach, and a school with a better basketball team than the other school he had verballed to. Don't worry he'll show up in Illinois next year, in an INDIANA uniform. I don't think going to Indiana was the bad choice. Stringing Illinois and Weber along was. He should have just cam out and said to Bruce, hey things changed. You know like an adult would. How did his dad not steer him that way? He was undecided. It was obvious he was undecided. You knew it, I knew it, and the whole country knew it. If your coach couldn't figure that out, you have bigger issues. Ok, that's one way to look at it. He wasn't very mature in his handling of it. My parents would have made me tell Weber to his face what was going on. You know since they would have wanted me to be a man about it. Part of growing up is doing things that aren't fun.

  19. I think this is ESPN's rankings. And any high school team with three losses probably won't be nationally ranked. Understandable. But that doesn't mean a team with 0 losses is necessarilly good. Its high school, how could you possibly rank them? You can't. I think it is dumb that they try.
  20. Does anyone else have an urge to always want to punch gottlieb in the face?
  21. I think it's a joke that it's being said around the league that Williams might be an All-Star. I know you agree, but what more does he have to do? He didn't make it, but could replace Boozer. What a farce. But then again Nash isn't even starting so what does it really mean?

  23. I hope this is as good as his career gets. Good luck with that. Kelvin Torbert Bracey Wright, it has happened before. That said I don't think it will here. Or Frank Williams? Frank might have been the third best player in Illinois that year behind Corey Maggette and Quentin Richardson, but other than that you are spot on. It was a joke... Most of my UI Fan buddies love to talk about how great Frank Williams is/was. Then in the next breath they rag on Bracey. Last I checked Bracey was in the NBA and Frankie was in the NBDL. Since you mentioned Bracey, that made me think of that. And I'm not really that big of Bracey Wright fan. If Frankie's mom wouldn't have passed before he went to the Bulls I really think he would be Kirk's back up. But, he was lost for a good time after that and came into camp way out of shape and just not caring about basketball. He only this year got back into the game. I think the guy will be back in the league soon.
  24. I hope this is as good as his career gets. Good luck with that. Kelvin Torbert Bracey Wright, it has happened before. That said I don't think it will here. Or Frank Williams? Uh...what? Frank was one of the best players Illinois has seen. Sure he didn't have success in the NBA, but he was a great college player. Bracey Wright was supposed to be one of the best players in all of college basketball and he was nothing but a constant disappointment. To throw Frank Williams in that list is kind of a joke. But then again the Hoosier fans also said that Deron Williams would be lucky to carry Eric Gordon's bags in a few years. You know the same Deron Williams who might make the All Star team.
