  1. If we can beat virginia tech we get SIU I love it.
  2. Well they said the conference tourny matter, so maybe no msu or texas tech too.
  3. I dont know if Purdue got a 9 seed it may not be that bad for U of I as they are very similar teams and resumes. If they are a 9 I think we should be in. But, who knows.
  4. Maybe if Holy Cross gave out cars and money to their players, they could compete as well. But they don't. Right, have you seen our recruiting results? I don't think we are cheating, or if we are we aren't doing it well.
  5. Can we cut this crap out? There's no place for it in a conversation among adults. It is a real point. There stats are going to be skewed because they play teams with less offensive talents. Almost winning feels great, but you still lost. No one is disputing your point. The way you're saying things, though (i.e. " pittiful little conference") takes away credibility. No one can respect your points if you're not respectful. If you come with well they are gonna win more titles than us, what kind of response would you expect? What does that conference have 1 win ever in the tournament? Why then should you get an automatic bid for winning a conference filled with non-tournament level teams?

  7. yeah you'll really show them! Yeah why don't you cheer for your holy cross this will be the year they are relevent. Oh wait, no it won't  hey at least I won't be swearing off one of the most fun tournaments to watch because a pretty good team that I root for won't be getting a chance to win one or maybe two games in it At least we have a shot to win a game, why does your team get to go again? I hope you look back on this conversation later and realize how immature you're being. A) Holy Cross has as good a chance as any mid-major to pick up a win in the first round, especially if they end up with a 13. They have an RPI of 62 and beat Bucknell twice. They have two very good seniors leading them. The Patriot League has shown in recent years that they can win NCAA games. If they play a team like Oregon---Lunardi's projection---they have a great chance. B) Illinois will make the tournament, without a doubt. All this whining and complaining is for naught. IU and U of I will both be in and will both probably lose first round games. Holy Cross is not beating anyone in this tournament. We came within 4 points of beating Tayshaun Prince and Kentucky in 2001, led Collison, Hinrich and Kansas with 10 minutes to go in 2002, and were even with Dwayne Wade and Marquette in 2003 with 2 minutes left. Bucknell, another Patriot League team, won first round games in 2005 and 2006. So are you sure that Holy Cross has no chance? Besides, I don't gauge the success of our season on how far we go. Hell, even putting a scare into a top 10 team like Kansas or Kentucky was a great accomplishment. And this year, we won every game in conference except for one, and beat a very good Bucknell team that had beaten us the previous two years in the Patriot League final. So unless Illinois goes to the NIT, I'm certain that Holy Cross will have more titles in 2006-07 than Illinois will. Holy Cross is 6th out of 336 in raw defensive efficiency, 4th in turnover rate against, and 1st in steal %. So you know the biggest reason that we have a chance in the first round? Because we play defense, and a lot of big conference teams don't. Hey we almost won a national championship, but didn't. Get back to me when you finish the deal and win a tournament game and use your defense against a real team and not a bunch of nobodies in you pittiful little conference.

  9. What is growing out of Porter's ear?

  12. They said we had to win 3 of 4 down the stretch, we did. They said we had to beat Penn State and IU in the tourny, we did. Every stat we have is better than Purdon't's. If we are left out it is a joke. We won 23 games in the big ten.
  13. Lunardi said we are out and Purdue and Indiana are in. What a freaking joke. We took 2 of 3 from IU, if they get in and we don't I won't watch a second of that tourny.
  14. He had growing surgery this year. You have any idea what that does to your mobility? I know and understand that. That's probably the reason for some of the ticky-tack fouls he gets by not being in position all the time, but there seems to be more to it than just that. Who knows I guess. Kind of off topic, but he's a really bright student IIRC, right? Yes he is a very good student. I think that his two big injuries have derailed his career. Oh and also that game was very poorly officiated. Thatmissed goaltend and several of the charges were a joke.

  16. Does Duke deserve to be in? There record is bubblish and they have won key win vs. Gonzaga at their second home in NY.
  17. Yeah that and we could probably trade a bag of balls for him if we had to send him back down.
  18. The amazing thing is that nobody knew it-Conley was seen as good, but really just a throw-in. He is much, much better than I expected as a freshman from reading about him during his high school days. He was that good in HS too. I saw one of their games on TV last year, and he was more impressive than Oden to me. Oden obviously looked dominant, but when you are 7'1" going against guys 6'8" and smaller, that's usually how it works. Conley played guys who were at least his peer athletically, but he was just much better than them. In high school Mike Davis sent Mike Conley a recruiting letter addressed with Sheron Collins' name. That is clutch. are you serious? Yeah, well at least according to the Sun Times I believe. I think that Davis said that one of his Graduate Assistants switched the names, but still that pretty much killed your chance with Conley and Oden.

  20. Exactly. Even if the Cubs drafted him, there was no way Piniella and Hendry could envision a guy with such limited pro experience taking up a roster spot all year. McDonough planted the seed that this organization plans on going to the World Series this year. A team that makes that kind of commitment isn't really doing themselves much of a favor by trying to hide a guy on their 25 man roster all year. Plus Lou has had some experience with him in Tampa, maybe he felt it wasn't worth it too. I sure hope he makes it.
  21. Steve Phillips just said on SC that Prior was in the low 80's, nothing like making crap up on national tv.
  22. He pitched 3 shutout innings... d'oh. theres still hope for breakdown after the innings stack up. Oh he is a cardinal I am sure it will work very well. His Cardinals career hasn't been so illustrious up to this point... He didn't need to be. When they need him to he will be great. See Weaver, Jeff

  24. Ryan Goleski formerly of the Cleveland Indians farm system. I believe he was taken first in the rule 5 thisyear before we took Hamilton.
  25. What did he say/do? I am not sure it was an english response. More like morse code. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he was just nervous.
