  1. ESPN.com had this thing called the "Brett Favre Excuse-o-Matic", making fun of all the people who rationalize every poor play that Brett Favre makes. I'm reminded of that here. They wouldn't have that if brett played for the Yankees.
  2. I really wish we could trade Jones + a couple of good minor league arms to the Yanks for Abreu. I know, I know - never happen. Nah, but we could have spent a little more last year and added Carlos Lee as well.
  3. THANK YOU. Holy... You mean, there's actually another person on this board that realizes Soriano playing out of position isn't helping the team? Yeah, but he doesn't want to play 2B anymore.
  4. Not as much as dropped routine flyballs. They are big leaguers.
  5. THANK YOU. I just wish we had another masher who we could stick out there in rightfield. One who hits 45 homers a year so we could live with subpar defense.
  6. I love when bums like Jack Wilson say that had the worst game of their career after they played well. No buddy, your worst game would have been anyone in your otherwise crap career.
  7. If so they need to take legal action against Dusty.
  8. I really don't think anyone said that, surely. Oh I think you had better re-read some threads then. I believe what they said was in a few years Deron Williams will be carrying Eric Gordon's bags. Lol. Deron Williams is a Steve Nash away from being the best pg in the league. Notice I said pg, not sg playing the position. Gilbert, I am looking at you. Well, I'll believe you then, however absurd that is. I agree with you, Deron Williams is awesome. I liked him better than Chris Paul coming out of college, as I'm sure you did. I don't care much about Illinois one way or the other, but always enjoyed watching Williams play (except against IU, of course). I liked Felton better than Paul also. I think Chris Paul is nothing more than a stat stuffer. His teams never do what they should. When they were number one in America they came into Assembly Hall and laid a complete egg. Were down 37 at one point. There is no way that happens to a great point guard's team. Agreed. Paul is talented, but he lacks that extra something. He's a blur and he's better at creating an offense than Williams, but Williams is far better at running one. Williams is also a much better defensive player. Plus, he's bigger. I would've ranked them Williams-Paul-Felton, and I always thought Marvin Williams was way overrated in that class (off topic, sorry). I like to see Williams do well because it seemed like a lot of people were questioning him and the Jazz for the pick. PS Hope Dee Brown is OK. That looked painful and he looked tottery. I thought it was great they were questioning the pick, but only because Deron uses that for motivation. In college he would look for articles that people wrote questioning him or our team and then would react. I remember before the Arizona game a newspaper guy asked him about not being a great athlete, but getting by anyways. After the game Deron made a comment about how he caught an alley oop and how it was impressive because he wasn't an athlete and laughed. Back on topic though I think and hope this series goes all 7. It is so fun to watch. edit some in atlanta think the same as you about the williams' boys.http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/ajc/hawks/entries/2007/05/09/the_williams_co.html I remember Williams saying that. He was pretty pudgy his first yeah, though. Obviously this is hindsight -- well, at least regarding my posts on this board -- but there have been a few picks/players over the years that I just didn't understand at all. Marvin Williams is at the top of that list. He's not overly big or overly athletic, he's pretty skilled but seems unassuming. I was stunned the first time I heard someone say he was the best player in the class -- I had never given that a thought after watching him play. Not that I was surprised it was Atlanta taking him #2. I think everyone fell into the Marvin Williams hype. If the guy was the next Jordan, shouldn't he have been able to start at UNC?

  11. The Cubs poor track record in the draft has led more to their poor record in the MLB than anything else--I believe. Hendry and his scouting staff have not done well evaluating and cultivating talent. They went for too many homeruns--and too many of them ended up as busts. I can name all the names, but you'll just puke in your mouth. I'm glad Stockstill is gone to Baltimore and we now have a scouting director that has a proven track record. In the long run, this will lead to a winning team on the field more than the $300 million spent in the offseason. Who needs Frank Thomas when you could have Earl Cunningham? I would still take Earl Cunningham. Oh and I also would have rather had Ty Griffin than Robin Ventura.

  13. Well we should be up about 4-0, but in cub's style we are tied 2-2 Haha. I saw Theriot and Soriano and Lilly (according to Gamecenter) came up big. Where should the fourth run have been? We should have scored in the first, but Sori didn't tag
  14. Well he is the best pitcher in the Pirates rotation. Yep, someone is also the world's tallest midget too.
  15. He has been on base three times. And screwed up two of those times. Should I say sucking, ON THE BASES, right now. And the time he didn't screw up he was called safe, but really was out. So that would've been his fault for getting called out at home? Let's stretch it out a little more huh? No, but it was a bad choice ot go on such a hard hit ball.

  18. I really don't think we are trying to win this game.
  19. Not trying to single you out, but what's with people writing this? "Of" makes no sense whatsoever. It's "have". yeah, but this is a game thread, not english class. so basic communication skills are unnecessary? I think he caught the gist of what I was asking? Judging on another person's answer.
