  1. I had a weird feeling he would really get up for this game.
  2. and then that happens. Not our night.
  3. nah, i say up 1 or 2... cubs are not getting swept this series and/or brewers will not sweep the cards Wanna bet? i'll bet that the cubs aren't tied with the brewers at the end of thursday. care to make it a year of premium? lol.
  4. Fielder homers again. This is gonna be a stressful last week.
  5. The most excited I've ever been as a Cubs fan. I'm definitely down for some recreation on their part. That was the one time in my life I really let my guard down with them. I thought for sure after that game we were going to the World Series. I thought for sure in 1984 we were going to the World Series. That scared me as a Cubs fan forever. I knew in 2003 after game 5 we were in trouble. We looked flat in that game. After the game I went on espn.com message board and told everyone that we are going to blow this. I just felt it. Of course everyone laughed at me... I was on ESPN at the same time and was telling people to quit projecting possible World Series rotation matchups, as we hadn't won anything yet. Too bad you couldn't let Dusty know that, before he held Z out of game 7 to start the first game of the world series. I think Wood was the proper call in game 7. Oh he was, but once he struggled when they went with Beckett we should have went with Z.

Of course everyone laughed at me... I wasn't old enough to remember 84. 89 and 98 we weren't very good. '03 I was happy with the first round win, what with our young pitching. But, once we got up 3-1 with Z, Prior, and Wood going. Sigh. Consider yourself lucky because that was a ridiculous choke job. Yeah I saw them talk about it on the HBO cub special. It seemed to hurt more to the older cub fans. it must be bad, because I still can't watch the highlights of '03 without getting angry.

  10. I hope not, if he did he will play and rain pain upon all of us. I am thinking 7 homers in the three games we play. I don't think Dunn hates us. He was quite right pointing out the field conditions @ Wrigley -- others have mentioned the Cubs need to resurface soon. I don't view it as being a jerk or anything, he's just pointing out the facts. I don't think he does either.

  12. Not a bad move on their part. Then again, it'll be pretty hard to top the stupidity the Pirates have had to deal with these past few years. Their drafts have been a joke the past few years. Alwyas taking an average college pitcher who may or may not be a reliever. Heck even McCutchen and Walker leave something to be desired. Although as Cubs fan I shouldn't throw too many stones what with living in a glass house.
  13. Same here. I don't live in Chicago, but I know I'll at least be in Wrigleyville if the Cubs make it that far. I might even have a hook-up for tickets, so I've got all my fingers & toes crossed... My friends and I were all set to drive up from Iowa City in '03 just to soak up the atmosphere. Stupid Marlins.
  14. Gomes and Cantu are considerably different cases. Oh I agree. Cantu hasn't seen a pitch he won't swing at. I am suprised we haven't heard more of Hendry being interested in him. But, the Gomes one I thought was more similar. Didn't he have a heck of a year for them?
  15. It seems like every year a Devil Ray jumps up and has a big year. Obviously not all were as big as Pena's this year, but Johnny Gomes and Jorge Cantu have done this in the past. Hell even Canseco had a huge year for them well after he was done. I guess the trick will be for Pena to repeat these numbers and not fall way off like the other guys did.
  16. 1. Zambrano 2. Wood 3. Ramirez 4. DeRosa 5. Hill
  17. Did anyone else catch Chip dressed like Bartman for that Halloween picture from yesterday's game? I didn't imagine that did I?
  18. He also really used his illness to get votes. jesus, call off the vultures ok? hey he is the one who is sick, if he is ok with it I am.
  19. He also really used his illness to get votes.
  20. For as well as we have hit the Sox fan, wish we had more than 1 run.
  21. He used to hit 30 plus homers a year too. Did he age 20 years this offseason?
