I loathe the fact that people still mock the practice. It's good lineup construction (although admittedly less so in September when teams have 9 pitchers in the bullpen). Explain how it is a good practice to possibly cost Ramirez one at bat a game by pushing him down in the order. He is our best hitter. He should be batting 3rd or 4th. Why not 1st? Ok, sure. I understand the lefty righty thing, but I don't see its value when there is such a large gap between two of the guys and you are pushing one of the more talented hitters on the team down a spot. I would prefer more Ramirez at bats as opposed to Floyd.
