  1. My post on page 66 of this thread. One you (illiniguy) clearly read, because you took exception to it and responded to it by naming about 10 other teams you thought were better (I'd like to point out that of those teams Xavier, Dayton, Butler, and Texas A&M all lost to non-ranked teams). So right there, I named two 1-loss teams that I think are better than IU, and Georgetown was a 1-loss team when I posted that. How convenient of you to forget that. And again, I have repeatedly called UCLA the best team in the nation in this thread. My bad, I mix a lot of you IU fans up. If Minn and Illinois shoot free throws like most girls junior high teams you lose twice this past week. Teams start to lose on the road in conference.
  2. Like I said. Bitter as hell. I think raw, myself, CCP, and a few others I'm forgetting (IU fans) have clearly admitted IU hasn't played well the last two games. The don't really have any big wins with UK struggling and SIU not being what they've been the last few years. They obviously lost to Xavier. Who the hell is saying otherwise? Jesus, raw made a joke about IU being the best 1-loss team and every Illinois fan blew their freaking lid. All I hear about is how much Illinois fans hate IU and Kelvin Sampson. How they hope Eric Gordon gets injured. That's not bitter? I'm not above being bitter as hell and hating other teams. But just admit it. I hate the Packers with the fury of a thousand suns. It's largely irrational and I'm bitter when they are better than they Bears. I freely admit that. This is no different. I have no problem saying I hate IU. None at all. As soon as Kevlin gets canned I can like them again. The guy is a cheater and is bad for the whole conference. AS for the whole exploding at a joke Raw made, are you kidding me? All we did was point out how you weren't even close. Plus it wasn't all that clear that he was joking.
  3. The big thing that would worry me if I was an IU fan is you have a one year window with this team. Gordon and White are gone after this, plus I think you are going to get some more penalties from Sampson's calls. You have a lot of bad games. You have one of these in the tournament at all and you are done. Illinois and Minnesota shouldn't be allowed in the same gym with you because of your talent, but you are letting those type teams hang around you.
  4. I wonder what Jacque is thinking when he hears Hendry talking about needing a lefty OF bat. "I guess I should have hit 20 HR last year..." I guess I will have to settle for being on the best team in baseball.
  5. I would have thought the game against us was your worst of the year. That is two subpar efforts in a row. They have struggled but I like it when a team isn't playing their best and still find a way to win. And on the best team, imo it's Memphis. I am betting some teams in the world, ie not the Big Ten, make their free throws though and then IU drops both of those games.

  7. I beg to differ. Michael Beasley says hello Even if Beasley was better than Rose, which I don't think he is, I don't think his team is good enough tat it will impact the tournament at all like Rose will.
  8. Oh yeah, you guys are in the same league as UCLA or Tennessee.
  9. I beg to differ. I don't see anything in his numbers that would scream best player in the nation. His counting stats are down because he only plays less than 28 minutes per game. His rate stats aren't that impressive either. 1.41 Assist/Turnover ratio, only makes 1.41 points per shot along with only shooting 70 percent from the line. His numbers, especially for a point guard, look very ugly against good competition (most of the games he has poor shooting percentages and low assist/turnover ratio). Rose is like Deron Williams was in college. The numbers don't tell the true story as to how valueable he is. Everyone thought WIlliams wasn't nearly as good as any of the three point guards from the ACC that year, Paul, Felton, and Jack. He was, he just played on a team where he didn't need to put up huge numbers. For my money Rose is the best player in college this year and will have the biggest impact on the tournament. Deron never had a A/TO ratio that low in any of his years, and he played around less talent for the first couple years. The closest thing to Deron in college basketball right now is DJ Augustin, except he scores more than Deron did and is a few inches shorter. Deron also played in a more controlled system than Memphis does. Niether Self nor Weber allowed Deron to do the stuff that Cal lets Rose do.

  12. Good old Coach Cal. If you play in a conference that doesn't prep you at all for the tournament you might want to play those games on the road. Memphis traveled to both Tennessee and Gonzaga last year. They are just returning to complete the home and home deal. Maybe they should have been scheduled it in alternate years (one at home and one away each year) but this isn't a case of Calipari ducking competition. Well I guess I would have tried to rotate them anyways. Last year's team didn't have Rose, the best player in the country, to lead them to the title.

  14. I really think Carolina is a step below Kansas, Memphis, and UCLA. They don't guard anyone. I agree. I think we'd kill them. The only teams that scare me are UCLA and Memphis. That's not to say those are the only teams that can beat us. I think we'll lose 1 or 2 games before the tourney. But UCLA and Memphis are the only 2 I'd love to avoid in the tourney. I don't know if anyone can kill them because they score so damn many points. But as of right now I think you guys beat them. Is there any chance that the four 1 seeds end up anyone besides KU, Memphis, UCLA, and UNC? I really can't remember a year when they were all so clear. Yeah, I think those are the 4. Memphis may be undefeated going into the tourney, with their conference. KU will lose a few times, but unless someone pulls off an upset and wins the conference, they will be a 1. UNC has a pretty easy road in the ACC, as I think they are much better than the 2nd place team, Duke. UCLA has a tough conference, so they may be the only one in jeopardy of not getting a #1 seed. Of course, if they don't win the Pac10, WSU will probably win it and be the #1. Only other shots are MSU or IU (if one romps thru the Big Ten), Georgetown (who has already lost at Pitt in a tough conf.), and Duke or Texas (if one dominates the non-UNC/KU part of their conf.). Memphis could still lose, they still play both Gonzaga and Tennessee. Kansas, imo, could run their schedule. The Big 12 isn't all that good. UCLA would be undefeated, were it not for Collison being hurt. UNC, while better than Duke, shouldn't be penciled in to win those games. It is hard to beat a team 5 vs 8. Where's the Tenn/Memphis game? Not that it matters since it won't be a long trip either way, but if it's on the UT campus, they might lose that one. I think they destory the Zags. Big 12 isn't good, but Texas could give them a game. Also, KSU may be able to match up with them athletically. I think it is in Memphis. Kansas is very good. I think they handle those teams cause they will be ready for them. If someone gets em it will be someone they don't suspect, maybe Mizzou. I think they could do what Illinois did a few years ago. But, the pressure really adds up towards the end of the season then.

  18. Illinois looks better with McCamey at the point. He sees the court better. I was also wrong about Weber, he shook all of the Michigan kid's hands.
  19. KU Memphis UNC UCLA WSU Georgetown Duke Pitt(they will be healthy again) Tennesse Michigan State Dayton Xavier Wisconsin(they are always way underrated) Stanford hell you might not be the best team in Indiana, Butler But I feel you are a real good top 25 team. By season's end, if Gordon starts to take control of the team, I think you will be a borderline top 10. A couple of those teams are matchup problems (stanford immediately comes to mind), but I don't think any not in the 6 I named are better, including Xavier. I disagree. I think Tennesse and Duke would destroy you. You do know EJ would have 3 fouls about a minute into that Duke game, right?

  21. Right, plus Sampson has a track record of having his teams play better in the postseason than they did in the regular season. Oh wait.... Is that the best you have? I didn't predict anything. Just mentioned that its foolish to saw how IU will do 2 months from now based on one game in the mid January. I honestly think you will win one game in the tournament. One. Oh and before you go there we won't make any tournament. None. Before the season, you thought it was "absurd" that Gordon would make first team all Big Ten, and that Sampson would "kill" Gordon like he does all his talented players (despite not having really coached any). I don't think IU is a top-5 team, but they're better than they showed today. I thought today would be tough. Regardless, I'm not putting much faith in your predictions regarding IU. Illinois once again proves a tough matchup for IU. I think it has a lot to do with Pruitt, who with his size matches up and basically neutralizes DJ White. Weber is also a very good coach. I think I said it was absurd to count on a freshman being an all big ten performer before he ever plays a college game. I still think it is. Gordon is going to be that though. If you think Sampson is doing his best to prepare EJ for the pros than your nuts. How many shots did he take today? Not nearly enough for a guy who was the best player on the floor. EJ should pretty much shoot 50 percent of your shots. He isn't, thus Sampson is in a sense sitting on him. With the one-year rule, freshman are going to be a huge force in college basketball. Especially in a mediocre conference like the Big Ten. That was evident last year. Gordon was basically a lock to be among the best handful of players in the league. Gordon should take 50 percent of IU's shots? Are you serious? Sampson's job is to win, then to develop Gordon for the NBA. I hope 50 percent is an exaggeration. No team is going to win big with one player dominating shots like that. Gordon is leading the league in scoring; I'd say he's not being sit on too much. In close games at least I would want EJ taking half the shots. He is by far your best. Why the hell Mike WHite ever plays is beyond me. It basically screams for one man to be able to double him. Sampson coached a terrible game today. He allowed for Randle to doublt by playing White a ton and he never once played zone. As for your frosh thing, I guess you are right.

  23. I am glad I don't have it this year. The Big Ten is pretty bad.
  24. His win shares are pretty bad for someone who played 18 years. Rickey Henderson has literally about 100 points higher WARP3. *on a side note, just looking at WARP3 for the top 10 players in stolen bases, check out Vince Coleman: Rickey Henderson: 187.7 Lou Brock: 88.2 Billy Hamilton: 110.3 Ty Cobb: 205.4 Tim Raines: 123.9 Vince Coleman: 36.4 YUCK Eddie Collins: 181.7 Max Carey: 99.5 Arlie Latham: 62.7 Honus Wagner: 210.7  Honus Wagner is a bad man.

Im not basing it off this one game. Im basing it off the 3-4 games Ive seen of them, and the games Ive seen Memphis, KU, UNC, Georgetown, etcc. I dont think they have the talent to match up with these teams. And we've already seen Lickliter completely man handle Sampson in the coaching department, just imagine what the coaches of the teams I listed will do with him. Lickliter is a good coach. But if Sampson was manhandled by him what did Lickliter do to Izzo? I know IU fans are in the minority around here, thats fine. I'm not expecting you guys to predict greatness for IU, hell, I'm not even doing that. I do think they are better than you are giving them credit for. I'm just glad they don't play Duquense, right Illiniguy? :) Lol, well I was thinking Rhode Island, Dayton, and Xavier. Also how does Sampson not zone us? Has he been sleeping all year? Or does Bloomington not have the Big Ten Network?
