  1. I know that this is from yesterday and not Cubs related, but did anyone else see what Porcello did last night? I really hope Vitters doesn't make us regret letting him slide.
  2. that's what i'm saying. it's not like felix pie is jason dubois, a relatively polished player arriving in the big leagues who should already have a pretty good idea of how to hit big league pitching. pie is very talented, just like aramis was; aramis was clueless at the plate early on, but he had the natural ability and enough smarts to learn some plate discipline, and he ended up becoming a great player. unpolished players - and Lord knows that the cubs can churn these out, since the organization has no idea how to teach plate discipline - need more time to adjust at the big league level than guys who already have a good sense of pitch recognition and working the count. pie was pretty average in his first crack at iowa, then tore the league up in 2007. let's give him some time to see if he can make similar adjustments at this level. if not, then he's a bust, but there's no sense giving up on him right now. why don't you share the same patience with ronny cedeno? he's looked bad in his 1st 600 major league at bats, just like aramis, brandon phillips, jose reyes, and probably quite a bit more. but you've given up any hope of cedeno being good. Because Cedeno really up until last year never dominated a league like Pie has.
  3. Thankfully the Rangers traded away Sammy Sosa while they could before he busted out.
  4. B.J. Upton flopped out.
  5. It would be an overreaction if Pie hadn't already had some significant MLB experience before this season. How many chances does he get? 150 at bats is significant?
  6. It isn't fair at all to say Pie is a failure because Patterson busted out. Pie has what 170 abs at the big league level?
  7. Ouch. That cannot feel good. Ugh, I always get squeamish about knee injuries. Kneecap injuries sound painful. Never hurt my knee, but I cannot watch ankle injuries.
  8. As a cubs fan, should we expect anything different?
  9. Don't mess around with the Royals. 162-0 maybe 161-1 depends on when they clinch.
  10. They are going to win this series. the WORLD series I see what you did there. Touche
  11. They are going to win this series.

  13. Lou should barter with him you can bat leadoff if you play 2B. Then we could put DeRo at SS and call up Murton. Pining for Matt Murton is so 2005. It's all about giving Ronny Cedeno a chance to shine. Again. Yeah it would be horrible to have a slew of hitters who actually worked the count in the lineup. Those guys never produce.

  15. Awesome, I was really hoping to fall way behind the Brewers again this year. ](*,)
  16. The main two guys I hear mentioned are Majerus and the guy from WKU who said he was going to South Carolina. Young guy, can't think of his name.
  17. Per ESPN Cal hires Mike Montgomery. Great hire.
  18. Thankfully Dusty is gone or we would have countered that with Fontenot giving Ramirez a day off.
  19. ESPN is teaching all future studs a lesson. Go to one of the big 6 schools or else we will try to crush you. TH had a really nice year, but for anyone who has watched college basketball this year to give him the player of the year is ridiculous.
  20. I have heard though that Gillespie didn't really like the pressure cooker at UK. But, I doubt he leaves there.
  21. Adams at one point was a decent prospect who didn't work out as planned. Kinda like Corey Patterson. Just because he was more exciting didn't make him anymore value added to the cubs.
  22. don't tell that to crazy illini fans, they'll think you're a ku alum. i said this exact same thing on the scout board, along with my reasoning (ie: ku being a top 5 program nationally, and one could argue, the most prestigious job in college basketball seeing as how the guy who invented the game used to occupy the position), and some guy said i was a delusional ku alum, i swear. so, i guess that 1. stating that self is not going to abandon ku, and 2. stating that ku is a top collegiate program makes me not only delusional, but a ku alum. this is why people hate UI fans on the internet, most of them are too young to drive or are too old to go to the bathroom by themselves. i wish we could just stop the hate. self is not going to leave kansas, kansas is not illinois and osu is not kansas, get over it. On top of all of that, which I agree with. He cannot leave to stay in conference. I am sure at some point he would like to coach at his alma matter, but he cannot leave KU to go in conference. No matter the money they throw at him. He will get a nice raise out of this though.
  23. $118million dollar team and we have a AA shortstop.
