  1. The unacceptable part is Lou having the guy out there.
  2. We have the heart of our lineup up. Well two of em and Reed Johnson. Yet, I have total confidence we will get owned. At what point does Lou start to switch out Soriano for Johnson with Edmonds going to center late in games?
  3. Man, I woke up late. Rivas hit two homers? What the hell?
  4. Now 2nd, 3rd, no outs...top 6 They blew that with the game on the line last night.
  5. I don't think he had a lot of choice. Those guys didn't have the grades. Probably, but usually they try to get them up through summer school. In these cases, they were either too low to bring up or he just didn't want to deal with them. He picked up a pretty good PG for 09 last week, local boy Jordan Hulls. He is doing it right, punt this year and just start recruiting like hell for the next few.
  6. The Brewers are 6 games behind the Cubs. Cubs were 8.5 behind the Brewers last June. It's a good thing that the Brewers rotation is held together by bits of string then. A Brewers fan I know was saying to me last night that McClung will be a solid number 2 or 3 starter. Why not, Todd Wellemeyer is dealing. Oh I guess because the Crew doesn't have birds on the bat.
  7. The Brewers are 6 games behind the Cubs. Cubs were 8.5 behind the Brewers last June. This cubs team is way better than last years team that was able to run them down. The point is that being 6 games up right now doesn't really mean all that much. It's nice, and anyone would rather be 6 games up than 6 games back, but it doesn't guarantee you anything. I know. Plus it won't matter anyways, as the Astros and Cardinals are proving you should get rid of all of your pitchers and plug in journeymen and minor leaguers to make the playoffs.

  9. Wow. Green lighting LaRoche makes this move look ok.
  10. It is nice to know that if you finish second you will probably be in the playoffs though. Screw that, those teams can't hold our jocks. None of this finish 2nd crap.
  11. We would have held it had one of our guys been able to catch a ball that inning.
  12. Facts are your friend. April 9 at Pittsburgh he blew a save and gave up one run. The Cubs won the game 6-4. April 23 at Colorado he blew his second save and again gave up only one run. The Cubs won that one 7-6. May 1 vs. Milwaukee he blew his third save giving up three runs. The Cubs lost that game 4-3. Today's game obviously isn't over. So he's blown three saves before today and the Cubs won two of them and in only one did he "implode and give (the Cubs) no chance". I was thinking opening day was a save chance. it wasn't. Either way he hasn't been very good. Yeah, this is wrong also. No, it really isn't. He has been ok. Not good. Coming into the game he had a 3.42 ERA with a .803 WHIP. He allowed one run in two innings and his ERA is now at 3.51. He also gave up a hit and a walk so his WHIP isn't going to change much. You just happen to remember the couple bad games he has because you're ticked off right now that he blew a save and it's clouding your judgement of Woody's overall performance. Probably, but I am tired of him throwing off speed crap and hitting leadoff hitters. Use your fastball idiot. Hell even Nolan Ryan told him the same thing a few years back. He is failing because he doesn't trust his best pitch.
  13. What kind of crazy money will he want? A lot, but he is probably worth it. He would be worth what 4 more wins than we have already this year? How many of Wood's blown save have we lost? 4 wins is a ton. All but 1 I believe. He usually implodes and gives us no chance.. Facts are your friend. April 9 at Pittsburgh he blew a save and gave up one run. The Cubs won the game 6-4. April 23 at Colorado he blew his second save and again gave up only one run. The Cubs won that one 7-6. Either way he hasn't been very good. Yeah, this is wrong also. No, it really isn't. He has been ok. Not good. Wrong. This isn't that hard, he is getting paid to close out games. He has failed a good amount of the time of doing that. Everybody still has such a boner for the guy because of what he was.
