  1. It'd be nice to be in the Cardinals' or Yankees' shoes for once. We shall get that chance this season. This reminds me so much of 2004 when every smart guy on here was like oh don't worry about the asrtos the cubs have this thing wrapped up.
  2. The only way to get over it is to go get a hooker Then some Heroin, I mean a ton of it Then shoot a little while she waits Then Kill her before she gets any I promise after this you won't even think about this game again. thanks a lot a hole. she turned out to be a cop. Youd think she could have told me before step 4. You always have to ask. That is like common sense. Even if she was a cop though. Why not follow through with the rest of the plan? Yeah, the only thing better than killing nasty hookers is killing cops posing as nasty hookers. Yep, cause nasty hookers are the best thing ever. Anyone who pretends to be one in order to get you in trouble deserves to go down.

  5. Sure, that's easy, I know that stat without even looking it up: irrelevant. So there's no correlation between wildness and giving up runs? You can't walk accross the plate. Dude.
  6. I agree with that. I'm just saying that, if he doesn't make the team, it will be because the spot is needed for a representative from another team, not because of today's outing.I doubt he makes it. We have three guys going for sure. Plus maybe Z or Demp. Plus there are many teams that suck, but have decent closers. Plus you know Hurdle has to take Buchholz off of his own team in that same spot. I say good, give Woody the days off.
  7. Why in the hell are the Pirates doing the pitcher bat 8th thing?
  8. They ran the guantlet of crap up there. Kennedy, Skippy, and Miles. Yet they still won. Pretty unreal.
  9. Not at all. One game does not make or break an All-Star bid. He will either make or not make the team based on the entire season, not one game.I completely disagree. There has to be a cutoff point somewhere, and one game can easily make the difference. His ERA went up half a point and his save percentage dropped, so that can definitely break an All-Star bid. He still has All-Star worthy numbers even with today's performance. I'm not saying he's definitely going to make the team. But if he doesn't it won't be due to one performance. It will be because they need the spot for a player from another team due to the representative from every team rule. That situation would be the same with or without today's stinkfest.Wood only has so many bullets left, I am fine with him not throwing any meaningless pitches.
  10. If you foe every pessimistic poster here you're going to be talking to yourself by October. it would just be me, truffle and ryan and im pretty sure they would rebel against me Just for the record, I was so pumped by the win yesterday that I hooked my nipples up to the cars batteries. After which I ran around the yard naked for hours. Thus I don't think I can overreact about this loss. Isn't that just a typical Friday night for you though? Yeah, for the most part. But I was at a buddies house this time. He loved it.

  12. which we almost got, were it not for a Fontenot homer. Maybe, it is time to re-evaluate just how good this team really is. And we might have swept if Theriot got a hit on Tuesday night and Marmol didn't give up a 3 run HR on Thursday. A sign somebody has to come off the ledge. So at what point should we start to worry about the other teams in the division? Once they have passed us? Don't look at me, I've been well documented as worried about the Brewers since they were about 9 games out of first. You probably should start to worry about the Cardinals too. They have hung through half a season.
  13. I am enjoying it, but still how devastating would it be for us to finish out of the playoff picture, which could easily happen since once again the Cardinals are over acheiving.
  14. Seriously. It's a tough loss, but not the end of the world. I'm confident the Cubs can hit a struggling Wellemeyer. Marmol was great today. Lilly was pretty good. Aramis finally did something. Lee stayed hot. Derosa stayed hot. Cotts was good. Wood won't blow many save chances, especially ones with a 2-run lead. Will everyone agree it is time to worry when we go 2-4 the next 6 games? Hell we could be looking at a 2-7 finish if you look at the starting pitcher match ups. which would be extremely stupid, since the cubs have been very very very good at home and have a much better offense than the giants and pirates. We play the Reds. Oh and we can't hit Cueto, Volquez, Cain, and Lincecum. Or at least haven't yet. He, I meant 2-6 not 2-7. FYI, Cubs will miss Volquez. He pitches tomorrow, then again on Friday. Harang, Cueto and Arroyo will pitch. Cubs also got 6 hits and 3 ERs off Cueto in 6 innings the only time they faced him. They faced him w/o Ramirez or Edmonds, though with Soriano. The Cubs also miss Lincecum unless the Giants change their rotation with the day off Monday. Lincecum is slated to pitch Wednesday vs. the Mets. I don't see any reason why a team that's going nowhere would want their best young pitcher to pitch extra if he doesn't have to. I thought that their announcers said they would skip him up to get him one more start before the break.

  16. Yes, because the Cubs franchise has proven time after time that they exceed expectations. I'd imagine they've exceeded your expectations pretty much every year of your existence. No, but they have since '04.

  21. If you have Towles in this list, may as well put in Felix Pie as well. Unlike Hill, Willis, and Francouer who have had a few years of major league success, a lot of the others are basically prospects who werent ready yet. Butler was as good as Hill for pretty much the same amount of time. um...no. maybe not, but still he was pretty damn good for a 21 year old.

  23. I know he has been good all year, but **** kerry wood. You have to get through the crap that is the bottom of the cardinals order. Apparently BudHouse has logged in as illiniguy today. I think Woody would tell you the same thing. He has to get the job done there. Now we probably drop this series. Why do we probably drop the series? We're better than the Cardinals, and are playing them tomorrow. 2.5 games better over half a season. It is at their park and we have our 7th best starter going.
  24. yeah just like the brewers tremendous collapse on thursday led to them getting blown out by the pirates on friday. Do the Cubs play the Pirates tomorrow? no, they have one more game against the cardinals, followed by 3 games each against the reds and giants, both of whom stink. so i guess your point is valid, it's very possible that the cubs could lose tomorrow and be on a devastating 2-game skid. Yeah, because we're guaranteed wins against the Reds and Giants, right? I mean, I'm pretty sure they don't even have to play. They just aut0omatically give the Cubs wins because those teams are so bad. Also, I'm pretty sure we'll see Harang, Cueto, and Volquez in the Reds series. and Cain and Lincecum in the next one. Plus we have that horrible finish to the year. I don't get the false confidence some are showing.
