  1. NEARLY KILLED HIM I wonder if you got Eric one on one now if he would admit to you he made a huge mistake listening to his dad and Kelvin? To be fair, our team didn't have a hell of a lot of camaraderie last year either. Though I guess going 16-19 played its part(which obviously wouldn't have been the case with Gordon. I doubt EJ would have helped the team camaraderie out much. I think his score first mentality wouldn't have meshed well with Pruitt who, although talented, seemed to only care about scoring and his professional future.
  2. To be fair, this is kinda a big deal. I mean he is really throwing Kelvin under the bs here. I know coach wanted them to stop doing drugs, but not if it meant us not winning games. Also am I the only one who thinks this is more than just pot? I doubt very much that Eric would have thought pot was such a big deal.

  4. Yeah, that's not suprising. Between the drugs, the cheating and the grades, Sampson did a bang-up job. Jesus. Quick question; how common do you think something like this is? I mean, it is college afterall. I'm sure some teams are much worse than others, but I always kind of wonder. when I was at DePaul, the basketball team got to live in these swanky, condo-style dorms. I'm positive that all those dudes did was smoke pot and bang white girls. You would be correct. My girlfriend (now wife) was on the volleyball team. Some of her teammates were those white girls getting banged. Apparently Steven Hunter was quite popular with the white girl population at DePaul. this hot (but dumb) blonde chick down the hall from me was over there all the time. she also just happened to be Kid Rock's sister, which was funny to us at the time, because Kid Rock wasn't well known yet but we played his self-released stuff on our college radio show. we tried to get her to hook us up for an interview but she never would. too bad, we could have bragged on a Kid Rock interview before we broke it big Isn't Kid Rock's sister an actress now?

At least not during the season when there is random drug testing going on. After the season ends is a different story.
  6. It's too bad they don't have a tournement at the end of the year that makes these rankings pointless. ;)
  7. Will Boston get in on this and if they do can we have Lars Anderson?
  8. At that point though Piazza wasn't going to push us over the edge. Peavy probably is that piece.
  9. Jim Hendry strikes again. I'll be so glad in June when it's clear Dempster has regressed, and Peavy is lights out in SD driving his trade value way out of our price range. That'll be awesome. All in all Jim's had a great offseason. After the crap that was the playoffs he let our most popular player walk, got everyone excited about adding Jake Peavy(admittedly it was more the papers and Towers), and way overpaid for Dempster. I hope he has time to get one more good kick in the balls in before the season starts. Edit: oh yeah he also gave up a decent prospect for Kevin Gregg and didn't offer Wood arbitration.
  10. I refuse to believe this is happening until it has. Don't want to get way up only to be let down. That would be too much like the playoffs.
  11. Which bar? The Union The shame of it is just that he didn't have a teammate or friend to get him home, make him throw up and put him to bed. The shame is Athletes who can't hold there liquor and not get in trouble for stuff like this It's also a shame that it happened at the Union, that place is a dive. Now if it happened at the Q, I would understand it.
  12. Kinda seems to me like after you just won a World Series you wouldn't be thinking about your old team, unless it was where you really wanted to be.
  13. Which bar?
  14. and i see no reason why you can't shut the hell up. I hadn't really seen it from your vantage. haha. but seriously, worry about your own team because i don't think they can beat either of the aforementioned. They would kill us. Stupid Cole Aldrich makes them very, very tough. He has taken dueces with more talent than Mike Tisdale. Mizzou better get us this year. If not it's going to be a long while.
  15. Yeah that was pretty hillarious that night. Maybe that guy should watch us play before making that type of statement.
  16. My buddy is a manager for the team, and he told me that Legion has not looked to good on defense in practice. We knew Legion wasn't great on defense when we got him, but poor defense is the quickest way to get yourself benched by Bruce. Getting Legion on the court is going to be huge at the end of a shot clock, and it will also send Meach to the bench where I believe he can be much more effective in Big Ten play. Yep, this is pretty much what I was afraid of. He has to play.
  17. I like our chances a bunch as I think we will add our best player in about 10 days. Winning without Legion is huge for us. But, if Weber is a fool and doesn't play Legion a ton from the get go it might not make us a lot better.
  18. Georgia isn't very good, they have a 5-2 record but they haven't beat anyone that's anykind of good. We need to win that one by ten plus.
  19. It's going to be close. We are kinda in the same boat. We should be 11-2 or 12-1. Obviously we have to win all of those games first, but we should. That would put us in the same spot. Should be interesting. Wish we would have got that Clemson game. Would have been huge for the conference.
  20. good news is we can shoot and we can score inside. bad news is that our interior defense sucks. if we can't stop anyone, we might have to pull simpson off the bench. na dont burn him. he will be more important in the coming years when we are good. legion will be enough to get us in the tourny this year, which is all we could hope for. I don't think he'd make that much of a difference on interior defense anyway. Obviously different circumstances, but it's not like Pruitt was able to step in during the title game and slow down May. Big men are slow to adapt, and defense is probably the last thing they pick up. You want a body in there to take up space, give CJ 10 minutes a game. I thought that Semrau handled his own pretty well last night. I wish he was given a little more freedom to shoot the jumper. One of his strengths is his ability to knock down a 17 footer. And as for the poster asking about Legion. He could in high school when he played for Oak Hill. I know that was high school, but odds are he will be able to create his own a little bit at this level as well. He was a top 30 recruit, most of them are able to get a good look off of the bounce.

  22. Man I thought we looked pretty good last night, Clemson was the better team and we had a chance to win it at the end. I do wish we would have gotten a shot off though. MIKE DAVIS.
  23. I know Chester has to play every minute of every game or Bruce will explode, but for the love of god get the ball out of his hand when we have to drive and get the ball to mccamey. Legion gaining elligibility will help us a ton. Frazier's been about as good as a guy can be without a reliable jump shot this season. His A/TO ratio is something absurd like 7/1. Frazier has not been a problem. Ping, anything further on the Liggins situation? You can keep your slimy Illini paws back for now as hopefully UK doesn't become Illini's outlet mall. :) He's still on the team, obviously played vs. WV and should be starting over Porter. When you're young and immature, used to being the man, everyone is telling that you should be the man, and there's an inferior player starting in frtont of you, you're going to do stupid things. Deal, you guys leave Richmond alone. We'll leave that up to Jereme. :) Agreed. Plus who knows who will be coaching your team by then. :D)

I know he has played alright, great with the ball. However, Al Fisher went off on him and Uzoh killed him in the second half yesterday. I know he had a thigh bruise, but the truth of the matter is, at that level, you are always going to be a little banged up. If it is more than that he shouldn't be playing. Frazier has been getting the ball out of his own hands with the clock running down. Just because a guy isn't a threat to score doesn't men he can't make something happen with the shot clock winding down. As for Uzoh killing him in the 2nd half? I can't find breakdowns, but the guy was 4-15 for 11 points on the day. How can that possibly be defined as killing? I guess you are right and I am nitpicking. He did hold him scoreless for the first 30 minutes though. When it mattered Uzoh really turned it on, but I guess that's what good players do. Needless to say I am thrilled we are 6-0.
