  1. I can't believe this is the same Rajon Rondo from a few years ago. He has improved a ton.
  2. Sarcasm much? He's terrible. Avery Johnson is terrible. He tries so hard to use big words, then mis-pronounces them. He comes off as an idiot. "Rose is a Peenatrator." What the hell is a peenatrator?
  3. Eh, the guys you can't sign you have to live with. I mean we could have had both Lincecum and LaPorta, but they are extreme gambles that I like taking. If you do sign one it's having a second first rounder. That's why I love what the Royals did last year. Vitters on his own should make the '07 draft a good one. I think there's a difference between not signing a top 10 round pick guy like Wilson and guys like Lincecum and LaPorta (and Victor Sanchez and Sonny Gray) who went much later. You don't waste a top 10 round pick on a signability question unless you're confident you'll get it done - those picks still have good value if you go with a guy more likely to sign. Also, the new rules give you an extra pick in the first few rounds if you don't sign the guy (a la the Yankees and Cole) but nothing after that. Plus Wilson has looked like a first rounder so far at TAMU this year. True. I do like spending the lower pick, I was thinking more along the lines of the LaPorta and TIm really low picks. But, you gotta admit getting Mellville where the Royals did can really help a draft out.

  5. I try to pretend that draft never happened. I like your style. 1. Colvin - meh 5. Samardzija - top 100 prospect in MLB 6. Lansford - converted to pitcher 7. Clevenger - potential big league backup C 8. Muldowney - 2 season-ending arm surgeries 9. Andersen - can't hit at Peoria 10. Renshaw - traded for Trachsel 11. Huseby - reliever at Peoria, topping out at 90 mph 12. Kopach - cut 13. Camp - AAA utility guy 14. Rundle - some potential, too many Ks, struggling at Daytona but age appropriate 15. Canepa - cut 16. B. Parker - converted to pitcher and already at AA, could be a good big league reliever 19. Papelbon - reliever at AA, tops out in upper 80s though 20. Kreier - doing ok at Peoria but repeating and has questionable stuff 22. Rosa - some potential, is at Daytona 24. Matulia - is expected to be converted to a coach 27. Redmond - disappointing in that he didn't make a full season team 34. Samson - 2B/SS at Daytona 39. Hatley - starting P at Peoria After 16th rounder Blake Parker, I only listed guys who are still in the Cubs system (the rest were either cut or never signed). Gotta hope Samardzija comes through. This one is the one I thought would redeem this draft.
  6. I always found it hard to do as I wanted to watch the game from a fans point of view. Too easy to forget your supposed to be refereeing. I would be too impressed with a guys move or pitch to make the proper call.
  7. Rhee and Lee are both in our top ten. I think both could be good players.
  8. I try to pretend that draft never happened.
  9. Now, we just need the power to come. I imagine it will when it warms up a bit.
  10. No way is Utah winning. They have been awful. As someone who kinda follows them, I can't wait until Boozer is gone. He held them hostage all year.
  11. Today I saw Kid K pitch. First time I've ever had the chacne to catch him in person. Between that and missing the turd we laid, I chose right.
  12. I kinda agree, but don't think he is a huge project. He can already impact the game with his defense. He is only a projsct on the offensive end. His defense would help us, but we do need a low post scorer.
  13. You can point to any player though and find a weakness in his game. Here's one, sure Luke Harangody scores a lot, but that's easy to do when you never pass. Sure Mike Daivs led the Big Ten in rebounding, but that's because no one else on his team can. I have no problem with Thabeet as player of the year, he completely changes the game without having to score.
  14. Your loss. You're only about a ten minute drive from everything. I really like KC. Sure it doesn't have the neighborhood like some parks, but thats not the sole reason I visit a park. The ballpark looks amazing. They have started to turn around their minor league system too. Exciting times should be ahead.

  16. I didn't either. The game wasn't lost there anyways. It was lost by Lou well before that point.
  17. The problem is, fans live in the now. They don't look at the big picture, they just look at whats happening right now, and if something isn't working right now, they want it fixed. If we could all only calm down and look at the bigger picture, which part of it is...its been 4 games!!...we would all be better off. But since we don't, we see Lee slumping and we want to DFA him or something. Lee's been bad for more than 4 games though. Lee's been bad since about month 3 last year. Lee is a real concern. And before that, he was looking like the DLee of old. Considering I read an article lately where he claimed to have been battling nagging injuries all through the second half of last year, I don't see a problem with taking a deep breath and acting rationally. My problem is, of course he's going to say that. What's he gonna come out and say, "hey I'm done, but your paying me pretty well so I can't quit. It's a recession?" Really since '05 he has been pretty bleh. I know he was hurt for a lot of that time, but he isn't at the age where you suddenly improve either. Edit: He was decent in '07

True, but Lou made the decision to start the year hitting 3rd, so I think he deserves the opportunity to prove that last year was just a prolonged slump and not a sign that he is declining as a player. And 4 games isn't enough time to determine that. Lou's kinda proof that anybody can manage at a high level when there payroll is over 60 million more than the rest of the division. Well anyone not named Jim Leyland.

  20. Dude, every team that wins on a walkoff celebrates like that. Especially when you are trailing to start the inning. And it was their home opener. Give it a rest. Eh, I guess it was their opener. Forgot about that.
  21. We're fine, but I wish we still had Wood.
  22. I really want Lee to succeed, but watching him kill rallies is starting to wear on me. In his defense it is very hard to hit with a big fork in your back.
  23. 2-2. How awesome is it that the Brewers are celebrating beating us like they won the world series? Are they the ultimate little brother or what?
