  1. That's a pretty good first round right there. A-Rod, Darren Dreifort, and Trot Nixon went in the top 10 too. And we got the two way player. imb's right though it seems odd that Lee and Benes were in the same draft.
  2. That's a pretty good first round right there.
  3. uhhhhh, i dont really picture this draft as "loaded" It's not. All the experts I've heard have said the opposite in fact.
  4. Wait you are writing off Jackson and Vitters already?
  5. Did he play any wooden bat leagues or any higher level things at all? Those numbers are good, but that competition isn't.
  6. Yeah. That's how I feel - I didn't like Colvin or Jackson and a lot of guys didn't like Cashner and all 3 of those first rounders have had success to this point. I did want Sale or Castellanos. It might be ok, I just hope this was a Wilken pick and not someone else.
  7. What's he gonna say though. "Man this is typical Cubs, they really crapped the bed on this pick?"
  8. Yeah, if a 20 year old isn't OPS'ing over 1.000 in his first month of AA then we might as well cut him. I don't think it's too absurd to question the future of Vitters. While he is still young, he hasn't exactly been outstanding. His 08 Boise and 09 Peoria numbers were good, but there's been a lot of mediocrity around that. He was drafted in '07 though and didn't sign until very late. It's not like he has had a ton of failure. Also his Fall League was pretty good.
  9. More annoying is passing on Yasmani Grandal there. I know nothing about him, but that is one hell of a name.
  10. Eveland is a LH starter. Or are you asking why he's not in RF instead of Colvin? Na I meant in the 7th with a 4 run lead for defense. I assumed we would have both he and Colvin in.
  11. Why didn't Geo stop on that? Would have at least got us one run.
  12. That logic is awful. Play the best player. Don't rely on flukey luck from a crap hitter. Koyie Hills best OPS in a year where he had more then 20 at bats is like .636. .636. I'm betting OleMissCub could approach that now. Don't get me wrong. If Koyie is named the starter over Geo or starts more games every week for the rest of the season, fine. You should complain. But giving Koyie a few starts because Geo is not playing well isn't that big of a deal. It actually makes sense. And even if Lou acts like he's considering starting him over Soto, you know better than to listen to him. This isn't a long-term thing. Koyie has done fine the past two days and Lou's choice to give him a few starts for a slumping catcher is quite normal. And has worked out fine. Funny we can sit Soto cause he's slumping with a .800 ops, but Ramirez has a .450 ops and he plays pretty much everyday. Makes no sense at all. Especially since the guys that would replace Ramirez are a lot better than Hill.
  13. The only problem with those numbers is that Soto's used to be much, much better. Considering he was hitting in the high .300's and is now at .254, it's pretty easy to say he's been slumping over the recent past without even having to look up the numbers. I'm not trying to say Koyie is better than Geo, but let's not act like Geo is Johnny Bench here. career .800 ops. He's prett damned good by catching standards.
  14. Soto makes less money as well. Lou's as bad as Dusty. Koyie is his Neifi. I have no problems with a weak hitting back up catcher that isn't that great at D....but to use him like Lou does...Ugh. I just wish we would have kept Blanco. He couldn't hit either, but at least he really could field.

  17. Right because Soto hasn't gotten a hit all year. This isn't hard. If we shopped both guys, who do you think most teams would fall over themselves to acquire. Hint, it's the guy who hasn't been released multiple times in his career. We are sitting a guy with a .800 ops and then crying about our offense. Unreal.
  18. Well they are going down, but we are too stubborn to admit it and take full advantage of it by trying to sell and getting some kids experience now.
  19. Is there any chance Cashner could be the guy who takes Wells spot?
  20. Aramis Ramirez is hitting .160ish and Aaron miles is getting game winning hits. All is right in the world again. :banghead:
  21. Yeah Dempster didn't have any blame on that steal. Yeah the other crap pitchers don't have any blame for the steals against Geo. But, hey let's keep doing the status quo Cubs. Sure it hasn't worked for 102 years, but your way is the right way. It's all curses and Bartmans. Play the superior player, it's not that hard to figure out. Molina wouldn't have thrown out Bourne on that play. There are plenty of things to fault Hill for, or Lou for that matter, but that play was not one of them. Right because our pitchers can't hold guys close, so why not play the hitter that gives you a far superior chance to score runs?
