  1. Fight smart, not hard. Remember when Rick Rickert kicked his ass at practice, so KG got him cut? Bar Fight baby!
  2. Baseball is probably the hardest game. It's a game of failure. I can get onboard with what you are saying.
  3. LeBron and Garnett were prodigies. It's not really comparable. Dammit I want everyone to love Kevin Love. That's what this comes down to, he's a former fat, white kid that is now dominating the the NBA. Plus he had the most awkward sports cameo ever on some Disney show. If me wanting Kevin Love to be a media super god is wrong, well then I don't want to be right.
  4. HOW IS KEVIN LOVE NOT BEING "MARKETED?" He's not at all being pushed like KG was when he was in Minnesota. You think he is?
  5. Could not agree more on the minor league thing.
  6. I'm aware, but nothing is going to be a cure all. Expecting baseball to do a ton more is pretty noble, but crazy. They're businesses and it makes a lot more sense for them to set up baseball academies in other countries. I'm not sure how anyone can change that? Uh, what? It's MLB that really wants to get these kids into baseball because it's good for their business. They're missing out on a ton of amazing athletes that they want playing baseball. I have no idea why you're acting like this is something that MLB is being forced or pressured to do; they WANT to do it. I know they want to do it, I'm just not sure what they can really do? And the basketball thing is just a peeve of mine. I'm not sure why the NBA isn't blasted more for not marketing it's white stars more. For example, how many people know Kevin Love is one of the best players in the world? That's probably more to do with where he is playing. Put him on the Lakers, Celtics, or the Knicks and people would be all over his jock. LeBron was marketed pretty well while being in Cleveland. Kevin Granett in Minnesota as well.

  8. I agree, but thought black kids found baseball boring and that was more why they were avoiding baseball. I don't think that is only for black kids though. When I was growing up in a small town in Kansas all we had for baseball was a summer rec. league. Whenever there was a basketball training camp or football camp all the kids would no-show an actual baseball games to go practice basketball or football. It didn't make much sense to me then and still doesn't now, but that's because I love baseball. It took me awhile to realize that most people just find baseball horribly boring. Basketball and football feel like it's constant action. Agreed, that's not at all just a black thing. Most people find baseball to be very boring.
  9. they have room to play in those countries. finding playable fields to practice on that aren't five miles outside the city is a problem for the kids around here. What the hell can baseball do about that though?
  10. Yet baseball is dominated by kids from poor countries.

  12. I agree, but thought black kids found baseball boring and that was more why they were avoiding baseball. It's not that simple. Too many don't even have a chance to give it a shot. I thought RBI was pretty solid, is that not the case anymore? I've always thought it was other factors that lead to the decline of blacks in baseball.
  13. I agree, but thought black kids found baseball boring and that was more why they were avoiding baseball.
  14. I just don't get why in one case it's a huge deal, but in the other it isn't a blip on the radar?
  15. No, because nobody is worried about that. Why? What's the difference? Because other than a few outliers like Steve Nash, watching white people play basketball is boring. Oh so just because you're racist you're ok with it? Ok.
  16. No, because nobody is worried about that. Why? What's the difference?
  17. Haven't we been pretty split the past few years? Also we steamrolled everyone for about a decade. You saying we had no rivalries then?
  18. In the early/mid 2000s I thought they should have been named the Houston Honkys. yeah they did have a ton of white starters back then: Bags, Bigs, Ensberg, Ausmus, Everett, Kent, Berkman, Oswalt, Clemens, Pettitte, Wade Miller, Lidge I'm pretty sure at one point during that time they didn't have a black guy on their 25 man roster. i vaguely remember Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson or someone pointing that out. Did they mention how worried they were about the NBA having small amounts of white people?
  19. I'm sure you circled the Heat game on the calendar, but they sure as [expletive] aren't a rivalry. Eh going back to te 90s we've had some big playoffs series with them, not a huge rivalry, but still a rivalry.
  20. I don't know what more it will take to make it a rivalry. The players don't seem to like each other. The fanbases don't seem to like each other. And the teams are not horribly mismatched anymore. The Bulls are still definitely better but the Pacers are coming fast, and both teams should continue to improve in the next couple years. If there was a playoff series between them, the Bulls would be favored but the Pacers would have a shot to actually win the series. Will it actually take the Pacers beating the Bulls in a playoff series to make it a rivalry? I think that's a pretty strict definition that would lead to pretty much no rivalries in the sport. Beat us in a playoff series. Have you ever done that? Until then youll be the team that gets up for us and never beats us when it matters.
  21. I thought Iowa State was the worst program in the MVC we'll settle this isu/illinois debate once and for all in the CBI. looking forward to it. God I hope so. No more of this sneaking into the tourney and keeping Bubbles job.
  22. He's from Chicago.
  23. We aren't, but I wouldn't blame him at all if he did.
  24. Good one. Care to wager if Meyers goes in the lottery?
  25. The guy had an open look. He's good enough to be in the NBA. I have no problem with how that played out. At all.
