  1. Really good at bat, man I love the patience of most of our hitters. We are just relentless.
  2. Man, Lackey doesn't have anything tonight. Yikes.
  3. Gah, I wish we would have kept being patient. We could have been in the pen that inning.
  4. So just any '90's eurodance? I thought you guys were just doing La Bouche?
  5. I know the common sentiment is that the Williams commit (and the injuries) might have bought Groce another year, but I wonder if this rash of criminal behavior might lead to his ouster. Paul, Black, Tate and now Nunn? I know Groce isn't their babysitter, but it's getting ridiculous. It might cost a recruit or two, but I really wouldn't mind if Whitman cans Groce and goes big on another hire right now. Even if Groce gets another year, it just feels like a temporary stay. I think you have to fire him, that said we will probably lose JCL, AJ, Tejon Lucas, and Frankie's son when we fire him. Really awesome situation our program is in.
  6. It's pretty much impossible to throw it to a player who's getting doubleteamed off the ball. Hammons did his job in the offense guarded by two men basically the entire shot clock. It's up to the rest of the team to exploit that four on three, and they did a miserable job of it. Move him away from the basket and let Edwards slash. I'm tired of Painter meltdowns. Even when Edwards was trying to slash later in the game, he wasn't able to beat his man off the bounce to get good looks.
  7. Good thinking on Nunn's part to not run Mathias off the three point line, can't have him killing us with his dribble penetration.
  8. I know, we can't beat any of those teams from down there. If we could have just been on the bubble, lol.
  9. Better late than never for a coming out party! Now go PURDUE (can't have Illinois mucking this up for us) If we get through you cake walk to the finals, seems like you'd like that shot at the auto bid?
  10. Remember Kruger's team with Lucas as a freshman? They almost won the tourney after finishing near last. Wasn't that Bradford's freshman year? Yep. With Frankie and Griffin coming the next season.
  11. Lands is really good, I'm surprised when he misses.
  12. Fran's teams collapse a lot it feels like.
  13. Big chatter that Goodwin is a done deal as well. i get the feeling that tilmon is more realistic than previously asserted as well. Well, that is good in that I'd love to have him, but bad in that I don't think Groce is the answer and that buys him a few more years while not getting the desired results.
  14. If you're listed as last 4 in before this one a good win or two in the conference tournament might get you in Yeah that's the thing though. We've had 3 "win and were in " games already. Sure we could beat Indiana in the 2nd round but we could just as easily lose to NW I guess if you lose your last 4-5 games that you need, you just shouldn't be in the dance?
  15. erm, really, the program has bigger problems than worrying about whether the team should know that the lame duck coach with no actual recruiting leverage is fired. bring on lovie. also, first black head coach in a major revenue sport. progress, baby. Cubit is the one that leaked the dismissal, in this day and age how was Whitman supposed to stop that from happening? Tell the team first? Gather them both up in separate rooms?
  16. He's likely saved Groce's job for the time being. He gives him another year with hill, nunn, jcl, and f8nke to see what can happen. Big chatter that Goodwin is a done deal as well.
  17. Frankie's son is staying home. I know it doesn't mean a ton, but thank god I don't have to watch a legacy kid play for IU or KU.
  18. Well that sucks that they are. I am not ok with it, but I just am being realistic. The school hasn't made it a priority. As such, this is what we get. We should have offered so much money that Smart or Stevens couldn't have said no. This time we should do the same with Archie Miller, although I am afraid his relationship with Groce might make that a nonstarter. this might seem far-fetched, but what about Tom Thibodeau? he's a hard worker, a complete dictator, defensive guru. Is he married to the NBA? He's the type of coach that would fit well at the college level, where he would have complete oversight of the program, no one messing with him to play this guy or that guy, and his grinding of players into the ground actually has a point. I doubt Thibs would want to take the step back into the college game from the highest level. I also wonder if he has the personality that could recruit, although I would think he could in Chicago. I'd like that kind of outside the box thinking. But, I am betting he has an NBA job sooner than later.

  20. When did they have promise? When they lost to NF to start the season? Oh never mind it must have been when they barely beat Yale to get to .500. Again, they were down three starters in both those games. They have some talent, but no depth to overcome being down 3 starters. Of course the complexion of any team is going to change if 60% of the expected starting lineup is missing for nearly the entire season. Enough to go from "had some promise" to "train wreck." Of course Groce being in over his head plays a part as well, but there was certainly some talent to hope on, at least. Not that any of this matters in the least, just didn't get why that was such an outrageous claim. No one in the modern college game can be down three starters and be expected to win. He knows this, he's just being a toolbox. And to be clear, all I thought was that we had a shot at the tournament.
  21. You weren't wrong. Ignore the troll. There certainly were pieces to have a good season. Abrams Nunn Hill Black Thorne Morgan Finke JCL that's a tournament level rotation. Not sure if Groce could have coached them there, but there was talent. Of course you think that. The consensus didn't think they were a top half of the Big Ten team nor a tourney team prior to the season. They are doing what most thought they would. I've been really hard on the team for about 5 years now, I don't think I am looking at them through rose colored glasses. I think they were projected low because many doubt Groce's ability to coach.
  22. http://replygif.net/i/980.gif Promise is a relative term. I thought we had a borderline shot at being a tournament team until Black/Thorne went down. I suppose it's all just sad commentary at this point. You weren't wrong. Ignore the troll. There certainly were pieces to have a good season. Abrams Nunn Hill Black Thorne Morgan Finke JCL that's a tournament level rotation. Not sure if Groce could have coached them there, but there was talent.
