    I'm praying that Lilly can win 10 games this year. So I went back and looked to see when the last time we had a decent lefty starter. I had to go all the way back to 1993 to find our last lefty starter who was worth a damn. Greg Hibbard, 15-11, 3.96, 191 IP, 82 K That's astonishing

    He had very good numbers, but apparently needed to show a little more love. What do you mean? Just because he chased a heckling fan in the stands, destroyed a bathroom, hit a fan and a photographer with balls thrown into the stands, charged the mound numerous times, verbally destroyed NBC reporter Hannah Storm, chased egg-throwing teenagers in his car on Halloween, basically murdered Fernando Vina, and stalked his ex-girlfriend doesn't mean anything. :-D Nope, it doesn't mean anything unless you cheated on the field. Hell, Ty Cobb makes Albert Belle look like Mr. Rogers.

Dawson was easily an all around better player with a slight advantage going to Rice for pure hitting. Rice only stole 58 bases compared to Dawson's 300+, and Rice had 0 gold gloves compared to Dawson's 8.

    I have to think that the first class of HOF'ers doesn't count in that unanimous voting thing. I mean, who WOULDN'T vote for Ruth, Cobb, Mathewson, Wagner, or Walter Johnson??

    Estes is proof positive that I should have been a pitcher instead of a first baseman. So long as you are a lefty, you can practically suck at pitching and still make it to the bigs.

    The names Dave Veres, Guthrie, and Lenny Harris, along with a mention of game 6 has made a terrible cocktail in my stomach, and I seriously want to puke now. I don't think i'll ever recover from all of that.

    HOORAY! A game like this is the only conceivable time I could ever root for the Tigers.

    Just out of curiosity, why? Griese isn't going to win you a game, might lose you one and with the defense playing the way it has, you're probably going to need that to happen. Rex can win you a game. Rex has been the starter for 16 games, has more great games than any QB in the NFL, and can make plays Griese cannot. He might blow up, but you have to take that chance. QB managers aren't going to win without a dominant defense. The Bears are not a dominant defense. Brees might disagree. 5 straight 300yd+ games this season.

    With the Cowboys, Bears, and Giants pretty much all sucking it up lately, it seems like the only teams that are still worth a flip in the NFC are the Eagles and Saints. Seahawks are OK.

    I realize all the circumstances of this game i.e. meaningless game, resting starters, lack of motivation...but still, the Bears look like crap.

    So I just turned the game on, are the Bears actually playing any starters? The Saints starters on defense and offense only played about 1-2 series.
