  1. At least Floyd isn't out there, and Pie and Murton are in the lineup.
  2. Playoffs???? You wanna talk about the Playoffs??? http://www.gifflix.com/data/media/81/pope_lack_faith.jpg
  3. Wasn't Ankiel the one who pulled a Mark Wohlers one day and all of the sudden just started throwing 45 foot sliders and fastballs that went into the dugout?
  4. I'd have to agree. However, I think Griffey would have toppled 800 if it wasn't for his injuries :\ Griffey joins Mantle as the greatest "should have been" players ever.
  5. He stole my line!!! :-(
  6. What team would want to pay to have that cancer in the clubhouse?
  7. Is this addressed to me? Because I don't put Aaron over him on my all-time list.
  8. Dye has 10 homers since the All-Star break :-(
  9. At least Pie would have a chance of beating out his crappy groundball hits.
  10. No offense to OMC, but I found it amusing that's he's spent the whole thread chastising Barry Bonds for using performance enhancing drugs only to turn around and talk Roger Clemens up quite a bit. There's a ridiculous amount of circumstantial and supposed physical evidence to suggest Bonds took HGH, etc. Clemens, even though I've personally suspected him of being a juicer, doesn't have that same mountain of evidence against him.
  11. Lineups soon? My guess.. 1)Theriot - SS 2)Pie - CF 3)Lee - 1B 4)ARam - 3B 5)DeRosa - RF 6)Fontenot - 2B 7)Kendall - C 8)E-Patt - LF 9)Z - P or at least that's the best scenario in my mind

  14. Pedro rivals Koufax for having the best single 5 year run. I'd agree with that, but those 5 years were basically all Koufax had, no? Pedro might win out on longevity. I'm pretty sure Sandy's arm was shot Grover Cleveland Alexander has a 5 year stretch where he averaged 27 wins, 200k's, and a 1.64 ERA. Koufax had a 5 year stretch where his ERA was 1.98 But considering that Pedro had an average ERA under 2.20 during a 5 year stretch in the modern game...that makes Pedro look all the more badass.

  16. I think when most fans think of all time greats, those are most of the names that pop up. Who that has played in the past 40 years comes immediately to mind when people think of all time greats, other than Griffey, Bonds, Arod, Maddux, Clemens?
  17. just for fun, name your 12 A dozen was just an offhand comment to dismiss Murton's claim that Bonds as the greatest player, I'd certainly put Barroid in the top 10, but I'll play along. In no order, Ruth, Williams, Mays, Cobb, Musial, Clemens, Aaron, W. Johnson, Gehrig, Koufax, Matthewson, Hornsby, Speaker So Clemens is the only player who began playing in the past 50 years that ranks among the all-time greats? You can accuse people of being stuck in the present, but don't you think you might be overrating the past? No, because my realistic list would have Barroid around 4th or 5th all time. The only people I'd sincerely place ahead of him with a straight face would be Ruth, Williams, Cobb, and maybe Mays. If it makes you feel any better I can take out Speaker and put in Griffey, take out Hornsby and put in Arod, take out Matthewson and put in Maddux.
  18. certainly nothing like this: http://img29.picoodle.com/img/img29/9/8/8/f_barroidheadm_dde5ffb.jpg

  20. Everyone knows what's wrong with him. He has a knee injury that he says won't be 100 percent until at least the offseason. The organization made a plan for him that involved regular days off, and they've stuck to that. Exactamundo. Knee injuries are a bitch. I hurt my knee two years ago and it still gives me all kinds of problems on very random days. 5 knee surgeries, 2 re-con, and three arthro...they just DON'T get better Yep, which is exactly why I'm not on the "WHY ISN'T RAMIREZ PLAYING EVERYDAY!!!" bandwagon. Knees can damage one's career faster than any other ailment I think in baseball. Cases in point: Mickey Mantle could have been the greatest player of all time had he not hurt his knees. Andre Dawson would have been a first ballot HOFer had he not destroyed his knees.
  21. I could name a dozen that were better. Whether it be Nickelback or Bonds, you are completely living in the now and appear to have no ability to look at things in perspective. You're still failing to realize the main issue here. It isn't about the drugs helping Barry hit homers via brute force, etc (although I do think bulk helps i.e Bret Boone). What the drugs did was provide him with increased stamina that prolonged his career and allowed him to achieve this milestone.
  22. This offense reminds me of some 1870's townball team.
  23. Ya I thought she was cute too.
