  1. The only one you are really forgetting is Stan Hack. 16 seasons with the Cubs: .301/.394/.397, 119 OPS+
  2. Jimmy Rollins in an NLCS game
  3. Theodore Samuel Williams: The Greatest Hitter of All Time (imo) and a bona fide American Patriot. 162 game avg: .344/.482/.634, 191 OPS+, 37 HR, 37 doubles, 5 triples, 130 RBI, 127 runs, 143 walks http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted12.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted5.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted15.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted24.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted4.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted13.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted17.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted2.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted39.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted21.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted23.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted7.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted8.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted44-1.jpg From WWII: http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted10.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted18.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted19.jpg From the Korean War: http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted26.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/ted45.jpg
  4. Good to see that this thread has gotten more responses than the Baseball History Thread has gotten in weeks :-({|= :-({|= :-({|=
  5. dangit...you posted that I was typing mine apparently.
  6. Your hypothetical is patently different than the Merkle play because it is leaving out the third player. Your play only has two players: one at third and one at the plate. There is no force play in your hypothetical, and thus no "movement" that must be completed i.e. the baserunner successfully moving up at least one base.
  7. This picture of Tris Speaker, Connie Mack, and Ty Cobb is just crazy. Connie Mack lived damn near forever. For example, when Ty Cobb came up as an 18 year old rookie, Mack had already been managing for 11 years! http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/9261/speakermackcobbqi5.jpg
  8. 6 more to go in 6 and a half games...definitely doable.

  10. A few of Babe Ruth's less than admirable moments on the diamond. From when he threw dirt in an umpire's face and ran into the stands to beat up a heckler, May 27th 1922: http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/8849/ruthfanrn9.jpg From when he punched an umpire, June 24th 1917: http://img93.imageshack.us/img93/9580/ruthpunchth5.jpg

  17. Derrek is quite the slugger these days....
  18. Watching Cuba play the US in baseball reminds me of the old stories about when the Negro Leagues used to play the Major League teams and beat them. Cuba's equipment and apparel just looks so cheap compared to the US's, but the players are pretty damn good.
  19. That stuff with Almonte wasn't fair. What a bunch of crap.
  20. OMFG....Lenny Freaking Harris. Look Darlin'...apparently Mr. Harris is a very fat man....how I really hate him.
  21. Deadball era ballplayers just smiled in their graves. [expletive] beautiful.
