  1. Michigan has four guys at 4.4 and 3 at 4.5. If you wanna look at a fast recruiting class, check out the Rebels this year. They have 8 guys at 4.4 and 7 at 4.5.
  2. Ole Miss went nuts today, moving from 31st to 16th.
  3. I have some pretty good footage from the 1910 Cubs v. A's World Series in a video that I put together on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wz8CC-kwtU
  4. that's so weak. just let them play ball. jesus.
  5. springsteen is cracking me up. I thought he was gonna go flying off the stage a second ago. where is born in the usa? :-)
  6. defensive lineman arent supposed to do that. i always knew that the kinship i felt for the cardinals as a saints fan was for a reason....pathetic
  7. No but he allegedly lied to congress and his case is under review by a federal grand jury. If he lies to them too will he be prosecuted? Probably.
  8. It can be a federal or state crime.
  9. "...so I went and stood in line for two hours" or "...so I went and stood on line for two hours" Which do you use? I've recently heard several people in Denver use "on line". I'd never heard that before. I'm guessing it is a regional thing.

  11. Mostly ripped off my Ken Burns documentary DVD's. Unfortunately Burns is such a New England sycophant so most of his series focuses on the New York and Boston teams. This sucks for me and my purposes to make short highlight clips of great players because I might have three minutes of Mel Ott footage (which is fine with me) from the series but just twenty five seconds of Rogers Hornsby footage. Or five minutes of Yogi Berra clips but just five seconds of Frank Robinson or Ernie Banks. I did get some positive benefits from those uber-short clips of some of the legends, in that I was able to make some nifty gif files of them swinging. Those files are way back in this thread, so I figure I might repost them.
  12. Only full time shortstops with higher WARP3's than Alan Trammell (127.1) Honus Wagner - 203.0 Ozzie Smith - 132.5 Arky Vaughan - 131.5 Luke Appling - 127.9
  13. The only full time second basemen with higher WARP3's than Lou Whitaker (129.9) and Bobby Grich (123.9): Eddie Collins - 180.6 Joe Morgan - 165.3 Nap Lajoie - 163.8 Rogers Hornsby - 162.8 Roberto Alomar - 132.6
  14. DVR'd it. Reallly looking forward to watching it.
  15. He certainly wasn't an angelic personality. He was a huge competitor and was pretty rough around the edges a lot of times. In the YouTube video I made of Robinson, you see a clip of him running over the Yankees Billy Martin during a bunt attempt in the 55 World Series. Then Phil Rizzuto runs over and tries to fight him. It's at 1:11: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnDp45PfOC0
  16. Two examples of Jackie Robinson's famous temper: http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/jackkick.jpg Throwing his bat into the stands after striking out... http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/jackbat.jpg
  17. ESPN Breaking News says that the Chiefs fired Herm Edwards
  18. That's what your mother said last night, Trebek!
  19. Gimme some Aints http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh153/OleMissCub17/reality.jpg
  20. The BBWAA will probably "punish" him for his attitude by not making him a first ballot HOFer. He'll probably get in on his 3rd or 4th ballot.
  21. Yes, I think he's a Hall of Famer. You have to look at potential HOFers according to their position, and Kent is certainly one of the top second baggers ever according to the stats. Among second basemen: HR: 1st SLG: 2nd RBI: 3rd Doubles: 4th OPS+: 6th BA: 9th Hits: 9th Runs: 10th
  22. Ehh, I'd still say Ruth is the greatest HR hitter ever. I know Gibson is supposed to have hit 800 HR or something like that, but a great many of those include barnstorming games against small city teams, exhibition teams, foreign teams that couldn't play too well, etc. It really, REALLY sucks that we don't have very accurate stats for Negro Leaguers.
  23. Paige was such a tall-tale artist that it is hard to know what is true and what isn't during his career. Be pretty cool if it was true.
  24. Correct. I probably would have had Earl Averill in that spot.
  25. Their top 9 CFers were: 9) Kirby Puckett 8) Jim Edmonds 7) Duke Snider 6) Ken Griffey Jr. 5) Joe DiMaggio 4) Tris Speaker 3) Mickey Mantle 2) Ty Cobb 1) Willie Mays I really liked that they had Speaker so highly (right where he should be I think). Shows that they put at least some thought into it.
