You're not a dumb person, so I'm not sure how you can't scroll up and see that I mentioned Kelly and Manziel in response to Omar's statement about Antonio Brown being in the XFL. When the league started adding players people were joking (not just me) that it'd be a league that could feature some fun QB matchups with talented headcases like Manziel or Kelly going against each other. However, at the time the XFL had a "no previous criminal record" policy. I've since learned they've rescinded that policy. And the bet was clearly about him starting in the NFL. Then you said that you made the "jab" about Kelly because I was over hyping an Ole Miss crush "once again". To which I'm now responding by asking you why you have a problem with Kelly being brought up in a proper context (as I always have) and why you think him being brought up in an XFL thread is over hyping him. Perhaps I'm misreading or misinterpreting a statement of yours.

The uniforms, camera angles, announcers, tv graphics, etc., all appear pretty professional. The AAFL just looked amateur as hell and couldn’t be taken seriously because of it. This looks “NFLish” enough to watch. The 25 second clock is nice too. Also, it looks like they are playing in MLS stadiums, which is a good size for sound and aesthetic purposes. AAFL was in huge old stadiums and you could hear the PA guy’s voice just echoing off all the empty seats. Also, the games being on Fox and ABC are going to help with some legitimacy. Vince did a one year deal with all the networks where it’s free for them to broadcast the games. So the XFL is getting no TV money.

We've had a bit of a run on what I would call "duh, of course he's first ballot" type guys the past 7 or 8 years. Jeter Rivera Chipper Pudge Griffey Pedro Big Unit Big Hurt Maddux Glavine Piazza However, we're about to enter a dead period for a while on those type guys. I'm looking at some of the bigger names that will be eligible in the next few years. Only going to list guys with a Hall of Fame Monitor score over 70. 2021 - Aramis Ramirez, Buehrle 2022 - A-Rod, Ortiz, Rollins, Teixeira, AJ Alphabet, Ryan Howard, Joe Nathan, Prince Fielder, Papelbon 2023 - Beltran, K-Rod 2024 - Beltre, Holliday, Utley, Mauer, Adrian Gonzalez, Colon, Jose Bautista, Jose Reyes, David Wright I only see 2 first ballot guys: Ortiz and Beltre. A-Rod eventually gets in and I could see the Vets Committee down the line getting Mauer in. JAWS has him listed as the 8th best catcher ever. Beltran and the sign stealing stuff has really hurt him, but I could see him getting in at some point. I'm fascinated to see how the sportswriters parse voting for Ortiz and not for A-Rod since they both tested positive for PED's. It's sad looking at some of those names and recognizing how injuries and age effect potential HOF careers. There were certain times in each of these guys careers when I thought they were on a HOF trajectory but I doubt a single one of them gets in: Wright, Howard, Reyes, Utley, and Ramirez.

Lifetime bans should be in order.

I’m strangely optimistic about Pittman at UA. He seems like a nut (not Nutt) but he’s brought in a great staff with some recruiting chops. We’ll see. Yes, his staff is really damn good. I'm not sure how Leach is going to fare though. He's not exactly known as an elite recruiter, or a great one, or even a mediocre one. He's really bad at it. But he does win some games though, that's for sure.
