So Vlad is a sure fire HOFer, although he probably won't be a first ballot selection. He doesn't have any of the counting stats (2590, 449) but was a scandal free (IIRC), well liked player with an MVP and 9 All Star selections to his name. Helton has a decent case and will probably get in eventually through the Vets Committee. Obviously the Coors Factor will be held against him, as it should (home: .350/.447/.613; away: .289/.389/.475), but he was well respected, scandal free, and was the face of his franchise for over a decade. I think he's a great fit for a Vets Committee selection down the road. Speaking of Helton, I always like the 2000 NL MVP voting: Helton led the league in BA, OBP, SLG, TB, RBI, Hits, and Doubles and was 5th in voting. Not saying he deserved it that year, but that always sticks out as an outlier that someone would lead in all those cats and only get 5th in voting.
