  1. Problem is, Dusty is not going to give Murton the majority of the starts. That's why I think we need to get someone like Huff, Dunn or Kearns and have Murton returned to AA, because otherwise we'll just keep seeing Hollandsworth get most of the PT with Murton only starting against the lefties. I'd love to see Murton play every day right now, but Baker won't do it.
  2. Anybody remember what he said, that's pretty low. I wonder if this happened swinging and missing at Big Z's heaters. :D And Wow Jerome Williams, must have put on a gutsy performance Yeah, I heard that he had asthma when they were interviewing him on the postgame show. Must've been real tough for him.
  3. Brad Wilkerson would be a nice addition to this team. But I don't know why Washington would want Hairston, they don't need an OF after trading for Preston Wilson, and they already have Vidro at 2B.
  4. I missed it but some fans on Cubs.com saw it as well.
  5. I really dont like the idea of getting Kearns. I mean, He had a Great 2003. If we could get 2003 Keans, I'd do it in a heartbeat. But, he has underacheived ever since. He, to me, is a HUGE risk. Especially when someone better (DUNN) could be had. I'd rather just have Murton play every day, rather then kearns, personally. But, I guess if it comes down to it, I wouldnt mind him. Kearns can POTENTIALLY be a very good acquisition...but it's risky, like you said. He was pretty damn good in 2002-03, but since then he's really struggled. Perhaps he could be like Hendry's acquistion of ARam and Barrett, and really blossom in Chicago. I wish we could just get Dunn though.
  6. After reading this, I'm pretty certain we'll end up with Kearns, most likely. But unfortunately, I don't see us getting Dunn.
  7. I was just about to relax and forget about trade rumors until I saw this.
  8. And that he's a tall, dark, handsome millionaire pro-athlete. dark? not really
  9. The only cool thing about Matt Morris is that he's on my fantasy team.
  10. It's kind of like how Dusty put Macias in today for Walker in the 9th inning...makes absolutely no sense, hurts the team, but he, inexplicably, does it anyways.
  11. It is, you just have to post it in green. Sarcasm is allowed. And you don't have to post it in green, either. It's nice to give a hint, though, that you are being sarcastic. Oh, I've been posting it in green lately. But whatever works.
  12. Any word on who was recalled to replace him? Apparently not, I haven't seen a transaction regarding this listed on ESPN.com, Yahoo, etc. yet. I'm curious. It could be Rich Hill. But then with the bullpen spent, they might call up Wellemeyer and then send him back down and call Hill up to start for Wood. If they plan on Mitre starting, they could call up either Hill or Welly for the pen...or they could recall Grieve or Fontenot and just return to 11 pitchers. I'd like to see them call up Grieve or Fontenot and move back to 11 pitchers like you said, but they've gone with 12 all season (or at least a majority of it) and I don't expect them to change that, unfortunately. My guess is, Rusch replaces Wood in the rotation and they call up Welly.
  13. It is, you just have to post it in green.
  14. Just remember...if the Cubs are getting blown out, don't be afraid to run onto the field and tackle Pujols. We'll all be proud of you. I don't think the wife will let me...but I'll take that under advisement. right because, no offense Vance, but in your pics you don't look big enough to tackle Pujols. Actually I don't know if all of us at NSSB are big enough to tackle the JOLS. I'll take out Eckstein then! You know that if you take out Eckstein it just means that Nunez will take his place and hit .400? No, the Cubs will DFA Macias, the Cards will pick him up, he'll hit .350 over the rest of the season, injure his knee in the playoffs, but then he'll be called on to PH in Game 7 of the World Series and hit a walk-off HR in one of the most classic WS moments of all time.
  15. Any word on who was recalled to replace him? Apparently not, I haven't seen a transaction regarding this listed on ESPN.com, Yahoo, etc. yet.
  16. 3 turnips, a bag of flour, a gallon of milk, and a 24 pack of diet dr pepper i think the cubs provide carlos with his gums Dr pepper is good, without the diet part
  17. I am being trained to be a stalker (since two of them are leaving) and today was my first training day. I was already trained on register last week. It is increadably simple and it is much less annoying then packing. Anyways, back to stalking. It was easy as all hell. I just pulled a couple things and put them on shelves. then walked around and talked to one of my co-workers the rest of the night. Ahh....slacking. Haha, you're right, it would've been classic.
  18. There's a thread in Transactions on it...CSN reports Wood to the 15 day DL.
  19. I've decided that Kerry Wood is my new arch nemesis.
  20. heh, when Crede dropped that I knew Manny was gonna make them pay.
  21. I seem to recall getting swept by a Braves team that had 10 rookies on its roster. I also recall that 4 Braves rookies were in the starting batting order for the last game. I posted this in another thread, but the words of Bobby Cox deserve another mention. That is just the opposite of what Dusty has said publicly. If Cox were manager of the Cubs, Dubois would have been left in for a stretch of games, regardless. Murton would be out there everyday, and likely hitting second. Cedeno would be playing too. Wow. I like that, that's good managing from Cox. Too bad Dusty will never do that, and Murton/Cedeno will never see consistent PT. :(
  22. I wouldn't mind Lofton much, but Hendry has said that any trades he makes would be for someone that would not only help us out now, but in the future. Obviously, Lofton is 38 and we wouldn't keep him past this season, so I doubt JH pursues a trade for him.
