    NO is down to Washington 13-7 with 3:40 to go in the 2nd.

    That game last night was scary, the 1st period was awesome, 2nd was terrible, 3rd they were able to hang on. Havlat another 3 points, Ruutu looked good -- this team's offense is really starting to impress. Now the defense (especially Cullimore, Keith, Seabrook) needs to work out it's problems.

    You got the proof for that one? actually, he was accused of beating his wife with a bat when she refused to grant him a divorce, but the charges were later dismissed.

    I saw this one. The Hawks have nothing to be ashamed of in this one. They pretty much outplayed the Wings in all 3 periods. They came up with a boatload of scoring chances, but Hasek was the reason Detroit came out with a win. A very good effort and an exciting game all-around.

    Technically, they're 12-17, and have 5 games to go to .500. A true .500 record probably makes the playoffs, though. With those extra five points, they would be in, as of today. Just the same, they are in the hunt and need to keep it up. I also wouldn't mind seeing Tallon pick up another good two-way offensive player or two. There are still a few guys that are getting a lot of ice time (*cough* Karl Stewart *cough*, to name one) who could be upgraded by the deadline. Stewart may not have much offensive talent, but when he's on the ice he hits everything in sight. I think he helps the Hawks in that regard because we don't have a lot of physical players outside of guys like Ruutu, Lapointe.

    5-0-3 under Savard now, at least a point in eight straight games. Can't ask for much more than that. Bondra has a shot at his 500th goal against Detroit, I think he's going to be valuable for this team: great shot from the point on the PP, still good speed and still a dangerous scorer. Good to see the PP finally get it going, in a big way. Khabibulin still playing strong as well. .500 now! 12-12-5.

    Apparently, Bill Clement reported on his NHL XM Radio show that Vandermeer is going to be dealt to the Flyers for Kyle Calder. Just a rumor at this point, not sure of it's credibility yet.

    I just don't understand these BS calls on taunting. Why even bother calling it when there are so many guys who get away with it in every game? I didn't really see what TJ did, was it that bad?

    I've been reading reports that it's just this year, $500k. That's a great deal, get a guy who might be able to put some pucks in the net without giving up any players. Agreed, didn't cost the Hawks much at all, and it's not unreasonable to think he can put up around 15 goals for us this season. He's also known as one of the better power play scorers in the game, which we definitely need help with. Hawks are up 2-1 right now in the 2nd period over Edmonton.

    Apparently, it was reported on Hockey Night In Canada that Bondra wants a 2 year deal, and Tallon only wants to give him 1. Gotta agree with Dale there, the guy is 38 years old. I wouldn't mind giving him a one year deal, he did have 21 goals in 60 games last year, at the least he could be a decent 2nd liner.

    Yeah, Eddie O actually counted 7 posts that the Wild hit, it was pretty ridiculous. Could have easily been a bad blowout if not for that. Boucher played great IMO when Khabby was out, but he's obviously gotten very rusty, it had been 2 weeks since he had played before tonight, and it definitely showed. He needs to stop bothering to play the puck though, he's awful at it.

    The Hawks got outplayed tonight for the most part and were terrible defensively, so it was a great thing for them to come back, tie it up and at least get a point out of it. Overcoming a 2 goal deficit late in the 3rd against a defensive-minded team like Minnesota is a very hard thing to do, yet they were able to accomplish it. I highly, highly doubt that would've happened under Yawney's system. It really sucked to see Boucher give up that very crappy goal in OT. We didn't play well in OT, but that goal came with only 1:40 to go, so we could have at least had it go to a SO and with probably Havlat, Ruutu and perhaps Hamilton shooting, we've got a decent chance. It's frustrating to see us lose three in a row in SO/OT situations. We're playing well since Savard came in but we gotta start putting more W's together.

    I'm disappointed in the SO loss, but like someone mentioned before, I thought the GW SO goal for the Wild should have been disallowed. First off, I don't know how you can do a spin-o-rama and not stop moving the puck forward, which is illegal in the SO, and it also looked like Bouchard interfered with Khabibulin before he put the puck in. Looked very questionable to me. Vrbata also had an excellent chance to win the game in the SO, he deked out Fernandez but couldn't put it into the empty side, that one really hurt. Regardless, it was another good effort and at least they got a point. Thursday against Phoenix should be winnable for this team.

    well, we should start by offering him 1 year, perhaps $40 million or so, but kent is probably worth much more.
