  1. why isn't kent or dunn modeling these new jerseys geez
  2. I just don't understand why anyone would be so against Griese coming in. I don't know if Griese is going to come in and light it up, probably not. But what is the harm in at least making the switch? Rex is playing terrible and isn't showing any signs of improvement. We have a backup for a reason, why not give him a shot? BTW, Lovie says: Tommie Harris - sprained knee Nathan Vasher - hamstring
  3. Luckily the Vikings are pretty terrible.
  4. ok, time for Griese. Grossman is just awful right now.
  5. Great win tonight. Nice play by Vrbata on the tying goal to set up Hamilton, and then Hamilton again in OT. I was surprised to see them pick up one point, let alone the W tonight. 3-0 under Savard and looking pretty good. On the subject of Havlat, I don't know about him returning Tuesday. Olcyzk on the broadcast said that Marty is still feeling a little discomfort. Could still be a while before his return.
  6. Savard's second game is another victory....5-2 Hawks over the Blues. Ruutu scores another on a nice wrister and continues to play well. Couldn't watch it but sounded like the Hawks dictated the play for the most part. They're now 9-12-2, things are improving, hopefully they can beat the Preds tomorrow night.
  7. CT, just stay away
  8. Hawks win 2-1 over the Stars in Denis Savard's coaching debut. Hawks were down 1-0 in the 3rd but tied it up with about 8 minutes to go, and Mike Modano made a big turnover that led to a Tuomo Ruutu breakaway goal with 1:40 to go. Nice for Savard to get a win in his first game.
  9. Some of his signings (Aucoin, Khabibulin, etc) haven't panned out as everyone hoped and thought they would. However, this past offseason he dealt Calder and Bell for Havlat, Handzus and Smolinski. I was skeptical at first, but I think those trades really upgraded the talent on this team. I don't think Tallon has been great by any means, but I don't know if he's been too bad so far. I think getting Havlat and only having to give up Bell was an absolute steal. Bell has 6 points in 21 games this season, while Havlat has 13 points in only 6 games. That was an awesome deal. So was Calder for Handzus; Calder was a hard-worker and scored 25 goals but Handzus filled a big need. I also can't fault him for the Khabibulin and Aucoin signings; Bulin is playing well this year, unfortunately Aucoin hasn't been the #1 defenseman, PP quarterback he was promised to be.
  10. Where were these expectations coming from? I never thought they'd do a thing. Nobody was predicting playoffs. They needed a ton of breaks to go their way just to contend for the 8th spot. Tallon has looked pretty overmatched in the GM's spot, he was much better in the booth. I don't think anyone was expecting them to be a Stanley Cup contender, but they should at least be a team that contends for the playoffs, and instead they sit at the bottom of the league once again. I think if everyone stayed healthy then this team would be in a lot better shape. Before Havlat, Handzus and Bulin went down they were 4-2, then when Havlat sprained his knee, Zeus tore his ACL and Bulin broke his finger, they lost seven in a row immediately. It should have at least been a more exciting year of hockey in Chicago, but instead it's been terrible.
  11. It was a tough situation for Yawney, there were a lot of expectations last season and injuries to Ruutu, Daze, Khabibulin really hurt us. This year, there were even more expectations because we actually acquired some speed and talent, but then Havlat, Handzus, Khabibulin go down and once again the team is without their top players. Regardless, I felt Yawney's system just didn't work, he preached defense and the team did improve in that area, but offensively the game-plan was pretty bad, he constantly juggled lines even when they worked and inexplicably gave guys like Denis Arkhipov 17+ minutes of ice time per night. I don't blame much of the losing on Trent, but it's not a big loss to see him go.
  12. time for the game of your life, Donald Driver
  13. I thought that as well when they kicked it. Should have just gone for it.
  14. So does a win over Minny next week clinch the division?
  15. I wondered that as well. Only 1 catch for 15 yards.
  16. I was very impressed by what Rex has done this year, but it's time to make a change. This team is too good to be screwed over by him turning the ball over 3+ times. Thing is, I don't see Griese making us that much better. He'll probably turn the ball over a lot less, but I wonder how conservative they would be with him under center, I can't recall how good he is at throwing the deep ball. Any way, I think we're pretty much screwed at the QB position, like usual.
  17. did the refs have some angel dust before the game?
  18. Another one that's coming back.
  19. ok, that better be reversed, definitely no catch.
  20. Alright, some points. Now time to tighten up on D.
  21. This sucks. That Grossman fumble was such a killer. Got to at least get 3 points out of that.
