  1. he's a journeyman relief pitcher, not alex rodriguez. the cubs may have support staff on their end to help new players and their families get acclimated to the city but i doubt they assist with finding a babysitter. i don't have kids myself but i don't think i'd be cool just handing my kid over to a random person for a day or two a week on a "recommendation" from a friend or company. i'm sure there's vetting that goes on with the family of the child, which takes time. I thought there was a piece on how the Cubs are recruiting free agents they show them schools, daycare, babysitters, etc when they meet with them. Plus other player wives may have solid recommendations. I did think about that after I posted my response but my comment still stands. The dude is a 2-month relief pitcher and not Jon Lester or Jason Heyward.
  2. Im assuming they let her know more than 24 hours in advance when that particular day will be? And im also assuming major league baseball players have support staff and secretary's that would be able to assist in finding them a reliable baby sitter? he's a journeyman relief pitcher, not alex rodriguez. the cubs may have support staff on their end to help new players and their families get acclimated to the city but i doubt they assist with finding a babysitter. i don't have kids myself but i don't think i'd be cool just handing my kid over to a random person for a day or two a week on a "recommendation" from a friend or company. i'm sure there's vetting that goes on with the family of the child, which takes time.
  3. he'll be top 3 but they'll give it to arenado.
  4. Edwin Jackson in 2014. 6-15, 6.33 ERA, -2.3 bWAR in 140.2 IP. Jesus H Christ I forgot how absolutely terrible Jackson was that year. Fun fact, I basically called Mike Minor's HR off Jackson from the bleachers that year ("if Minor's ever going to hit a HR, it'll be off Edwin" 2 pitches before he went deep). we got a winner!
  5. that losing streak was with the mets. both baseball reference and fangraphs have him with a positive war in 1994 (1.1) and positive/negative war in 1995 (0.2 and -0.2, respectively). i remember watching him pitch for the cubs. he wasn't anything special but he wasn't a black hole of suckage like estes and chatwood.
  6. I went back and looked at his numbers and he was MUCH worse than i remembered. How dare you Man, how is that even possible? If anything, I remember him as being even worse than he was. It made me so mad that Dusty kept him in the rotation all year. estes gave up 4 or more runs in 14 of his 29 starts as a cub. he walked 83 in those 29 starts. to compare, chatwood has given up 4 or more runs in 7 of his 19 starts and walked 85 in those 19 starts. estes had a bWAR of -1.3 in 2003 while chatwood has a current bWAR of 0.3. are estes and chatwood the worst cub starters of the past 20-25 years?
  7. his face is a weird mix of actors bill hader, josh hamilton, jon hamm and braves legend dale murphy. feel like i'm looking at one of those morphing face gifs.
  8. Russell and his throws to first always look like they’re coming in at 5 mph.
  9. i had forgotten just how bad he was last year, wow I had forgotten Shawn Kelly was a baseball player and not some non descript Irish pub owner.
  10. brian dozier to the dodgers
  11. Please stop posting this horsefeathers twitter account.
  12. getting the good tin foil ain't cheap Hi Sam https://twitter.com/kelseymsutton/status/1022913972947828736 Oh my god does that tweet piss me off. I could never imagine tipping someone $5 for $100 worth of food or alcohol. That is horsefeathering insane and disrespectful.
  13. i DEMAND the cubs make this his walk-up and home run music: [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]
  14. sounds like one hell of a hangover.
  15. any thoughts on Ozil’s comments regarding racism towards his Turkish roots? http://www.espn.com/soccer/germany/story/3571587/mesut-ozil-retires-from-germany-after-political-tensions-over-turkish-roots http://www.espn.com/soccer/germany/story/3572096/mesut-ozil-hasnt-added-anything-to-germany-for-years-bayern-chief-hoeness
  16. the horsefeathers is this garbage?
  17. Have we talked about Josh Hader’s racist tweets yet?
  18. What’s the deal with Cardinal fans saying The Athletic story from a week or two ago was fabricated?
  19. the mets organization as a whole needs an enema.
  20. England with the goal in the 6th minute. 1-0.
  21. Slow down there. Many of the All-Star games in the 50’s had an NL outfield of Mays, Aaron, and Musial. I don't care enough to dig into it, but I imagine the seasons Trout, Betts, and Judge are having would be tough to match, even for those 3. quickly glancing at baseball reference for 1955: musial - 6.1 bWAR mays = 9.1 bWAR aaron - 6.3 BWAR or 1957: musial - 6.1 bWAR mays - 8.3 bWAR aaron - 8.0 bWAR as of today: trout - 6.9 bWAR betts - 5.4 bWAR judge - 5.0 bWAR
