  1. "Jason Heyward is continuing to do baseball activities."
  2. Don’t know, but the fact that Maddux, Walton, Dwight Smith, Grace, Mitch Williams and Dunston transitioned into one of the worst teams of the 90’s is pretty sad. Edit: and even Sandberg into the mid 90’s had he not quit for awhile. There were some pretty astoundingly bad trades in there to help make that happen. The Cubs turned Lee Smith, Dennis Eckersly, Rafael Palmeiro, and Jamie Moyer into one decent year of Mitch Williams. Add the failure to resign Greg Maddux to that and you have a recipe for a lot of years of suck. paul kilgus was the first cub as a kid who i thought "this guy sucks."
  3. lots of hands
  4. Julio's runs were very fun, and the final was pretty good, but the format is incentivizing stuff that make it hard to follow and appreciate. The split screen plus rapid fire pitches because of the timed rounds meant that you barely could follow the flight of half the home runs. Unless it was said on the broadcast(which I muted after BCS came on) I have no idea what home runs were the furthest or who had the best average distance. Some of my best HRD memories are of guys hitting the ball impossible distances, and that's been replaced by a made for TV format that pays lip service to majestic bombs and instead makes it an impressive test of endurance through speed swinging. That's not objectively bad, but I think it's fair for some to prefer more emphasis on the extremes of how far a ball can be hit instead of a speedrun. Especially with the camera work/tracking that objectively is difficult to follow at times. i'll take a speed run over the old 10 outs home run derby format any day of the week. if anything, my biggest gripe is finding a way to watch the horsefeathering thing. i have mlb.tv, which wasn't airing it. signed up for espn+ and then found out it was on regular espn and not espn+. signed up for a 7-day trial of youtube tv in order to log into espn to watch the derby. mlb needs to get their horsefeathers together.
  5. last night's home run derby horsefeathering ruled, y'all are crazy.
  6. Beth Mowins is fine. Sutcliffe is awful, though.
  7. "bust a move" came out in '89 and the drum break used is "scorpio" by dennis coffey:
  8. after their 4th win a row, the cubs are tied for 3rd place in the nl central with the mighty pittsburgh pirates. highlights from yesterday's 3-1 cubs vicotry: * alec mills took big boi's lyrics in "the rooster" literally and threw his back out: * mark leiter jr. came to rescue with 5.1 innings of 1-run baseball. * patrick wisdom knocked in a run in the 8th with an rbi single. for today's finale, keegan thompson takes the hill against the red sox's MYSTERY STARTER. who could it be?!?!? in any event, it's time for funk/disco music. a million cool points if you can figure out (without the use of google, of course) what chart-topping song from 1990 sampled this track: go cubs!
  9. cubs with a doozy of a game yesterday. down 4-0 at one point and came back to win 6-5. morel with a home run in three straight games...hot damn! no lineups as of yet but i'll leave you with this: some jazz-funk for this holiday weekend. go cubs!
  10. That series was depressing af. Nearly forgotten about it until now. Thanks. The one that killed me was DeRosa grounding into a double play with the bases loaded and 1 out against a washed up Livan Hernandez down 3-1. Believe it was on a 3-1 count too after Livan walked the bases loaded and the pitch was going to be a ball. Sorry, I just made it worse didn't I? the ted lilly series.
  11. red sox are in town to play the cubs in an interleague matchup: what's currently playing on my turntables: go cubs!
  12. Pain/discomfort wise it's, to my understanding, not physically so. Mentally is of course a different story. Not to minimize that aspect, but having lost a uncle to a similar disease to ALS, I'll say the emotions around end of life care and quality of life and such are generally much more complex that say, someone who's body is being wrecked by cancer. Ok, I've been trying to figure out this comment but I'm really not sure what you're saying here. LOL. read an article yesterday about mcmichael having a fentanyl patch on him at all times. yeah, the dude is in constant pain.
  13. What a great game to purchase tickets for. At least I got some sun on my face.
  14. ichiro struck out more than he walked. if you're going for a ty cobb comparison, ted williams or tony gwynn would be more apt.
  15. when i'm in town, i usually park near belmont or montrose harbor and walk to wrigley.
  16. when is suzuki expected to return?
  17. Astros with two immaculate innings in the same game, first time in MLB history. Same batters, too (Lowe, Duran, Brad Miller).
  18. This team horsefeathering sucks so much ass
