    i was talking to someone about this last night during a super bowl party. they're called "wearables" and, like you said, they are used in just about all sports. they're used in baseball to gather data about how quickly a defender gets to a fielded ball, how long it takes for a pitcher to deliver a baseball, etc. fascinating stuff.
