  1. Why are Red's fans not clamoring for Dusty and Walt's heads? Would a team really want Dusty in charge of a youth movement? I think this team was close to being good a couple of years ago and have been completely driven into the river. I would be asking to be traded if I was Harang, Phillips and Votto.
  2. Ok, I know Lee has a NTC, but.....is there a trade market for Lee? Is is possible to either include him in a trade for Gonzalez or to trade him on the side for something else. I know the Padres would probably just trade him also. I know that Hendry is usually not this type of GM, but it is certainly something he should look into.
  3. I think the best solution to this Boise St "problem" is to just keep putting them in BCS games if they are undefeated. If a team with 1 or 2 loses from a "power" conference complains about Boise getting in ahead of them, then the tables need to be turned on them and ask why they and their conference buddies are not scheduling Boise fairly then.
  4. Again lets be honest. If some idiot from the LA Times just says something like "Derek Jetter is a GG SS cause he dived in the stands for the ball once" we would be all over him on this board. This is the same kind of reporting, just pulling out a couple of examples of bad calls that seem to be helping conference big dogs out, without looking over all of the teams games and actually seeing if a team is really benefitting from poor officiating. I also think the amount of people who would have to know about these kind of things make it questionable if a real conspiracy could actually be taking place without someone somewhere blowing the whistle. Chris Dufresne is actually a pretty solid college football columnist. I shouldnt have called him an idiot. I stand by my overall point though. Question is, did he even watch all the games he was writing about or did he just watch the hightlights on ESPN. I didnt either, but is it possible that there may have been bad calls in those games that went the other way that were not nearly as "hyped" by Sportscenter.

  6. they are the highest ranked 1 loss team, so it would appear that most people agree with you.
  7. Why, you want to watch us beat down your conference again? :D First of all, who is this "us" you referred to? Do you play for Iowa? If not, you can drop the "us". Second of all, Iowa did not beat the SEC in their Bowl Game last season. They did not play the SEC. They beat South Carolina. ? So earlier Southern Cal was in the SEC and now South Carolina isnt? Just for clarification the Big Ten have played about even against the SEC in bowl games recently. Edit...ok I reread you post and see what you did there, I guess I should drink coffee before I respond.
  8. I thought I've heard that Illinois has only beaten Michigan at home something like twice in the last 50 years or something like that. I think the 2nd year I lived here when Illinois went to the Rose Bowl they beat Michigan at home. We were there and I was irratating my dad by cheering for Illinois. I cant think of another Illinois win at Champaign since They lost to Michigan on Saturday night during the Rose Bowl year. I honestly don't remember Illinois beating Michigan at Memorial Stadium. I was talking about 1983

  10. Would you consider playing ranked teams like Ohio State and Notre Dame on the road (like USC did) as difficult as playing Akron, Temple and Eastern Illinois at home. Whew how did Penn State beat those powerhouses? Did USC join the SEC? I do believe the Pac 10 year in year out play the best non con overall though
  11. I have lived in Central Illinois since the early 80s...I dont remember Illinoins ever beating Michigan in back to back years. I may be wrong though. I know Forcier is a Freshman but getting completely outplayed by Juice has got to be embarrassing.
  12. Injuries and the disappearance of Datsyuk. I have a bad feeling that this may end up spiralling down. The upside is they should be healthy at playoff time and Franzen will not have the olympic grind to go through. I just hope they make the playoffs
  13. a half empty Cotton Bowl for a #1 Florida vs #16 Ga Tech quarterfinal game would make for some depressing Cotton Bowl officials
  14. 1st let me say what is happening to Bryant is wrong. I do want to point out the difference again. What Michigan did/didnt do was a top down violation. Bryant was an individual doing something separate from the team that was proven that he did wrong. Also, the NCAA did not suspend Bryant or any player, OK St did. I am not saying the system is right or correct, but if Michigan is found to be breaking the rules as a top down from the team they will be put on some kind of probation. The situation with Bush and Mayo is also more of a renegade player than a team wide lack of control, unless there are many more other players involved. Maybe that is what the NCAA is investigating. I am sure if no other players are found to be involved, then USC would only face a small probation. If they still played for USC and USC let them play(not suspend them) then the school would be facing more actions against them.
  15. Also OK St is not being punished, Dez Bryant is. It is similar to the the Maurice Clairet(sp?) deal at Ohio St. There is not any evidence of wide spread abuse, so the school suspends the player, school stays out of trouble. I dont know a lot about the Bush/Mayo stuff at USC. If there is no evidence of widespread violations and lack of institution control, my guess is the desired punishment from people will not come. Probably just a slight tap on the wrist, similar to what ND got with the Dunbar incident.
  16. not to defend the crap that is aaron miles but in 1981 the cubs ran ivan dejesus out for 460 ABs in a strike shortened season with this line .194/.276/.233/.509 with a 44 ops+ I am not sure that aaron miles even comes close to that kind of badness given the amount of ABs
  17. Or tell the Iowa dumbasses to quit trolling every single thread about the Illini. Yes wolf and NewUserName. They've been Hawkeye fans since way back. Remember when you freaked out about me calling you a "dolt" last week when you ignored what I said? And went on a little rant about name calling where you started cussing and calling people names? And now you use "Iowa dumbasses"? LOL I dont mind being an Iowa Dumbass, I just dont want to be an Iowa fan edit: was I censored because I capitalized the word? I noticed others were not censored
  18. have they put Dusty in charge of who gets to ump in the WS? One blown call and your gone, wow. I wonder how many blown calls Joe West has had thru the years?
  19. My guess in MSU, Mich and Purdue would not agree to play ND in the middle of the conference season. One other thing that I give ND credit for is this. In the past MSU has tried to get some home and home with some more prestigious schools. Most of them would not accept. I understand why, cause if you are Florida or someone like that why would you play MSU home and home. But ND has always stood by there traditional game with MSU even when it has given them fits the last 10 years
  20. Ok, I was wrong about Army. but the point I was making is Andy saying next year will be the worst ND schedule ever because they are playing Tulsa, W Michigan and Navy. I was just trying to point out that in the past ND has had plenty of lay ups in the schedule, which is undeniable. I understand that they have also played plenty of really good teams and several solid teams. Tulsa, W Michigan and Navy are of equal quality to the likes of Rice, pre joe tiller purdue, service academies and several other opponents that ND has had in the past. I also think your Northwestern example makes my point that CFB scheduling is a crap shoot. Trust me that ND had no intentions of playing Northwestern in Chicago if they thought Nwestern was going to be as good as they were that year. Anyway, I realy am not trying to get into a pissing match about the quality of ND's schedule. I have always thought that overall ND does a good job of scheduling, which isnt easy if you chose to not be in a conference. Becuase you have to schedule so far in advance most years, sometimes your schedule may not be as good as you expected and other years it may be much harder than you expected. Also, I dont know who is on ND's schedule next year but I would think without really examining it that at least USC is going to be a top 5 team and MSU, Michigan will both be better teams next year. So even with some lay ups like Tulsa and W Michigan, overall I expect ND to have a very competitive schedule.
  21. Utah is a solid program. As a MSU fan I accept your apology for ragging on MSU about their sheduling. Also you should check out the ND scheduling during the Holtz years. They played some very good teams, but there was plenty of Army Navy and other crap sprinkled in Navy is always going to be on the schedule. If Navy is the worst team you play, you're doing just fine in scheduling strength. They used to play all the service academies and that was before air force adn navy became decent. Pre Joe Tiller Purdue was terrible every year, USC was down for most of Holtz's years(though they were #2 the year ND won the NT). They also bailed on Miami when they wanted to have a traditional game. I am not saying ND played the worse schedule out there, but they did have some years were is was pretty weak. Of course CFB scheduling can be a crap shoot sometimes.
  22. without looking it up, my guess is Bradley's production was probably just as good if not better than the production the Cub's had in RF in 2008. Again this is just me thinking, but my guess is the Cub's lost 15 games of production in SP, C, 2b,3b,LF,CF and bench.
  23. I was thinking more of the Sosa deal because Hendry has already put a spotlight that Bradley needs to go. And we know how much money the Cubs ate to get rid of Sosa. Hendry has proven that he does not handle these situations well. I have a fear that we will end up taking a bad contract from someone else. Which in my eyes would be the worse solution. At least Bradley is productive.
  24. I have to keep asking, why does this matter unless it's affecting play on the field? Has there been any indication that it has? I completely see your point, but not everything can be quantified. I was of the opinion that if the Cubs season was more successful there would never have been the Bradley issue. My brother is of the opinion that the Bradley issue may have been a reason why the Cubs season was not as successful. I have to honestly admit that I am not sure how you can figure out who is correct. I have also been in work situations where productivity suffered because of one real bad attitude, even though that person was productive in their job. At this point if Hendry can move Bradley and not have to pay more than a couple of million, I think that would be best. I think bringing him back is just setting everyone up for trouble.
