  1. If you get Craig Swoope, ask him if he has that 3 large he owes me from the time he got busted with product before he was able to move it.
  2. Good point. Michigan State would beat 2/3 of the SEC and they are the 6th best team in the big ten. Why is Michigan State good now? A month ago everyone said they were crap. You're the one that kept saying they were not good. ND should be ashamed that the game was so close, blah blah. Of course Illinois and Northwestern on back to back weekends sure does help with the overall perception.
  3. And your wrong. If Arkansas and Iowa met in the Capital One bowl, or Sugar Bowl or any bowl down there Iowa would be favored by 1.5. Give or take a couple. Thats based on what the teams have done up to right now. Teams favored by a field goal or less generally win 55% of the time. Who said I was flipping a fair coin? but point spreads are not based on who is the better team. They are based on trying to get an equal amount of action going both ways. The SEC is as good as the NFL perception will sway the spread. It has been that way for years. Yet like I pointed out the Big Ten seems to be holding its own in ACTUAL games. iowa isn't even favored against michigan state. if there was a large discrepancy between the real point spread and actual difference between the teams, smart people would bet on the easy win and force the point spread down to where it should go. it's not different than stocks and the betting market for highly computerized. inefficiencies don't last long. and I did NOT use any vegas futures lines or anything that for the Arkansas and Iowa matchup. I used actual difference between the teams, not the real point spread. But MSU is just as good as Arkansas and the game is in East Lansing. Hear is the thing. You can type until you are blue in the fingertips. I agree that the SEC is better than the Big Ten. I am just saying it is pure crap to say the SEC's 5th best is the best in the Big Ten and that is what you are implying. This year on January 1st some inferior Big Ten team is going to beat LSU in the Capitol One bowl and you SEC fans will call it a fluke. But at some point you have to wonder why it happens every year.

  6. its what we have though. I am not making some claim that the Big Ten is a "superior" conference. SEC fans have been making that claim for years. I am not even saying that overall the SEC is probably the best conference over the last 10 years or so. It is just not that much better and it certainly is a crock of pooh to say your 5th best team is better then Iowa. That kind of stuff has never actually played out.
  7. True, but this year the Big 10 is just about as bad top to bottom as it has been in my lifetime, IMO. Maybe that's overstating things, but I don't think so. IDK, seems like every year I hear how great the SEC is and how bad the Big Ten is. The SEC has just about all the advantages in bowl games against Big Ten teams but the record is still pretty even over the long haul. well the SEC was better the last five years, the big ten was better the five years before that, and iirc each conference had one or two national titles the five years before that. so over that stretch they should be close. Big Ten victories in the last 5 years against SEC in bowl games 6 SEC victories in the last 5 years against Big Ten in bowl games 5 I do believe all but one is a New Years day bowl or better. So we are not talking our 6th best against your 7th best. These are the games involving the conferences top 4 teams or better. Played mostly in venues very friendly to the SEC school.

  9. All I know is for all the SEC being as good as the AFC crap that I have heard the last 10 years, they are just about even in head to head games against teh Big Ten over the last 15 yrs or so. sorry, I mean in Bowl Games...not sure about regular season head to head games
  10. going to my second college game of the year SIU/Youngstown. My daughter goes to SIU and its parents weekend or something. I dont know what to think of Iowa/MSU. I am not very optimistic.
  11. This. Why would you try to go to second with the ball in that spot? No kidding, the runner on second was meaningless in that situation and there was no way you were turning 2. Heck I bet the clowns on baseball tonight could even figure that out. I will be honest, I thought the game was rather boring, not sure how it is gettting tagged as a great game.
  12. The latter, but Bama has been better than Florida this year and it's really not that close to this point. I agree, I thought for several weeks that Alabama should be ranked #1. Maybe the close win yesterday by Florida made some writers actually look at both teams bodies of work and come to the logical conclusion that Alabama should clearly be ranked #1 at this point.
  13. So do you think the writers actually looked at 7 weeks of FB and came to the conclusion that Alabama's body of work is the most impressive and voted them number 1, or do you think it is just a knee jerk reaction to Florida's close victory or Arkansas yesterday?
  14. If they win out and some of their competition plays well I dont think it is impossible for them to be top 8. My guess is they will not win out though.
  15. a 10-2 ND team will make a BCS bowl, you can bank it. Isnt there some level that if ND reaches they would get an automatic bid?
  16. 10-2 would get ND a BCS bowl. I listened to the end of the game on radio, Allen Pinckett was convinced that the next to last play was a TD. Was he just wrong? I have not seen any highlights of the play on ESPN so it must not have even been that close.
  17. I think this game was only going to halftime when Iowa/Wisconsin started the 4th quarter.
  18. NASCAR Really? I need to get a life, no Saturday night CFB. Wonder if that NASCAR stuff is interesting?
  19. Maybe the rest of the players will get up there some day. :D To be fair, my guess is that there are players on most Div 1 NCAA schools that do not belong there on any academic level.
  20. I think the only thing I have figured out about the Big Ten is that Illinois is terrible. With that said they will probably beat Indiana Saturday night and no one will notice. I think I would pick Wisconsin over Iowa at Wisconsin, so Iowa will probably win.
  21. Not to my knowledge. Even if there is it is impossible to enforce. Legs used to get shattered on punts so they all got taught that if someone dives at them to just pick up the second foot and fall to the ground. How do you penalize someone who is trying to avoid his leg getting broken. I didnt know that, I just assumed they did it to try to get the roughing call.
  22. I dont usually watch a lot of NFL football or comment on it. So I am not going to start. I however am making a general fb rule change suggestion. I feel it would be a good idea in college and pro fb for there to be a penalty for flopping. Watching pass interfenence get called because of WR flops is sad or roughing the punter because of it. If there was a 15 yd penalty for flopping, my guess is it would be much easier to make the correct call when it happens. What punter would flop if he wasnt really hit? I know there are times they would take the chance, but at least then it would be an occasional gamble, not an every punt scenerio.
  23. All meaningless when faced against the Heisman hype machine. Media voting for any award is scary, look Jeter is actually a MVP candidate in baseball. McCoy has it in the bag as long as they win, if they falter than Tebow will replace him.
  24. I might be crazy, but I'm as amped for this one as I've ever been for a USC game, except maybe 05 - and then only because I had tickets to it. If Jimmy can pull off this miracle it'll be hard for him not to be the Heisman front-runner. If Texas beats OK, McCoy will remain the front runner. I think ND gives USC a good game.
  25. Franzen out 4 months. I every increasing dread of this season for the Red Wings keeps growing. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=AjadyYxudRJvJrpg96KTNbp7vLYF?slug=ap-redwings-franzen&prov=ap&type=lgns
