  1. yeap...this one is completely on them. well bad break in the middle of a change but it should have never gone to ot
  2. If Detroit losses this one it is completely on them. Missed penalty shot, taking too many penalties(legit tonight), let sleep walking joe thorton score a goal,
  3. I predict the Wings will have at least one extended 5 on 3 tonight....which will just go to show how bad NHL officiating is
  4. Not sure it is the same thing. The Goalie thing is legal until it becomes goalie interference. It is not like the whole play is cheating from the get go. It would be like a team that plays the trap should get called for more interference penalties, because the system itself is boarder line interference, but it is still not interference until someone actually interferes. Diving is diving. The funny thing is I never thought the Sharks were a diving team. I was really surprised that Setaguchi did it in game one and never thought that Nabokov was a diver either until tonight. I think you may be right about he suspending for diving after the fact. The Knuble goalie interference the other night should be a huge sign to the NHL that something needs to be done
  5. Dont get me wrong, I dont think there is some conspiracy or anything. After 2 games it just really seems that the penalties are not square(well they are not even close to square). The Sharks Game Winning goal in game 1 and the game tying goal tonight came after some really questionable officiating that led to 5 on 3s. It is not like the boarding call or the Heatley goalie interference ended up leading to 5 on 3s against SJ. Both probably were called because there was a huge penalty discrepancy and the officials were trying to even it up some, which in itself is stupid
  6. the heatley goal interference was a bad call, but both goalie interferences on teh Wings were bad calls, the penalty on Bertuzzi while the Wings were dominating play and on the PP at the beginning of the 3rd was a bad calls. Also, the only cross check that seems to be called is if a Shark dives into the net, if a Shark cross checks a Wing it is just part of the play I guess. So in the end the Sharks scored 2 PP goals on dives and scored one goal on the broken stick.
  7. did you watch the game? I dont feel the least bit bad for that
  8. this diving crap is really starting to bother me
  9. No, in the 05-06 playoffs the top 4 seeds in the West all went out in the first round. ahh, i was thinking anaheim was the first 8 seed to win San Jose beat Detroit as an 8th seed back in 94
  10. this is the only replay I can find...the incident happened at about the 2:20 mark of the video. It appears that the trip and the high sticking were really close to being simultaneous and neither one caused the other. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRTxpZxzCUA&feature=player_embedded#!
  11. the trip was caused by the high stick though. Ehh, looked like the other way around to me. Trip first, followed by SJ player flailing like he was shot, causing the high stick. I dont have the game recorded so I cant go back and look at it...I may be blinded by homerism, but that is not how I remember it
  12. the trip was caused by the high stick though.
  13. I know, and I have gotten used to the whole Wings conspiracy thing. Just frustrated by how the Wings lost tonight. I rarely even complain about officiating except to say it is inconsistent.
  14. the Wings PP sucked and that is why they lost....but that 5 on 3 goal that was the Sharks 4th goal was a hard pill to swallow. Then every time that they showed Franzen the rest of the game with stitches on his face just made that pill even harder to swallow San Jose fans on their boards claiming they won in spite of the refs and the obvious NHL conspiracy to have the Wings in the finals just about takes the cake
  15. yes I am whining
  16. honestly I dont think the refs saw either play and just called penalties on the reaction of San Jose players
  17. his tripping the opposing player
  18. now a blatant dive creates a 5 on 3
  19. 4 minute double minor on SJ turns into a 2 minute minor for the Wings
  20. Whining is what Quenville was doing last year during the playoffs....Howard just said that he thought Pheonix was lucky in game 6, huge difference what did q whine about last postseason? (honest question, i don't remember) probably something about Detroit gets all the calls blah blah blah...If I remember correctly he got fined for it
  21. Whining is what Quenville was doing last year during the playoffs....Howard just said that he thought Pheonix was lucky in game 6, huge difference
  22. there was a poll on TSN asking which was the best ever Canadian playoff performance by a goalie...Halak was right there with Roy and Dryden
  23. the red wings are the best team in the west only if you've been living in a cave for a year. jimmy howard is average at best. their top defense pairing is a combined 76 years old and neither guy is as good as he once was. their third D pairing is pretty weak, cleary and bertizzi on a second line isn't going to scare anyone and their third and fourth lines are pretty meh. they're a good team but the sharks, wings and canucks are more talented IMO. (as well as the pens and caps) Lidstrom is still one of the top 5 dmen in the league, Rafalski has been much better since the Olympics. Lilja missed over a year and is still getting better, Ericsson has tailed off quite a bit since his rookie season but is still a quality puck mover...I guess I am saying that the Wings 3rd pairing is far from weak. Cleary has been playing mostly on the 3rd line, which has been pretty good so far in the playoffs. Howard is not great but honestly how much worse is he than any of the remaining goalies? There 3rd and 4th lines have not scored a lot, but they are very defensive responsible and get a lot of ice time which will be good for the team as the playoffs move along. Can't argue with you about Bertuzzi.
  24. Pheonix was rather flat tonight and honestly they played above their heads all year and it was just a matter of time before they gave out...I am not sure that San Jose, Chicago, or Vancouver could be dominated like that even if they were flat. Question for those who watched the game...when Fiddler scored on the face-off, did that puck touch the ice or did he hit it out of the air as it was dropped?
