    I am glad the AP got out. I am sure it was a money thing and not a moral issue. I do agree that it makes alot more sense than the coaches poll but the more organizations that get away from stupidity of the BCS the more chances we will have to get a real playoff sometime.

    I hope they keep doing this everyyear, because stuff like this shows the stupidity of having the coaches vote. In reality how many of these teams have most coaches even seen. I cant blame someone like Houston Nutt for voting for Auburn to be 3rd. At least he has seen them play. How is he supposed to know how good Penn St is? Is there a anti-ND conspiracy among the coaches? Good then at least then college fb will get rid of this stupid poll. I think the computers make alot more sense then some of these coaches ballots.

    The main problem with our offense last year wasnt how good our best players were it was how good our middle and bottem players were. A better way to say it is the Cardinals had a better offense not because Pujols and Edmonds were better than Lee and Aram but because Eckstein and Nunez were better than Perez and Patterson. So by adding Lugo, Wilkerson, and Huff and going the whole season with Murton. Aslo having Mabry take Arams off days at 3rd instead of Macias we would have a greatly improved offense. A offense that is definatly able to compete. That with hopefully improved bullpen and either Wood or Prior returning to high level will get us in the playoffs. If we dont get the improved pitching than we will have to score more runs but I dont think that is going to happen without interferring with our ability to resign lee prior zam aram and possibly wood

    In the NC game between OSU and Miami there was an equaly bad call close to the end of regulation that went against OSU. If the refs would have gotten that one right the game wouldnt even have gone to overtime and OSU would have won. As a fan of a Big Ten school I always cheer for Big Ten teams in Bowl games. Though I dont get to heartbroken if OSU or Mich lose

    In all fairness I think Oregon or Auburn should have rightfully gone to a BCS game. That being said the ND/OSU matchup is easily the 2nd most compelling game of the bowl season. IF it was Oregon or Auburn it wouldnt have been nearly as compelling. So we dislikers or ND might not like it but ND sells alot more than any other school. Personnally I will be watching to see ND get their butts kicked by OSU.

    Would you be surprised if Sammy put up 25-30 hrs with a 270 ave? I wouldnt. I still wouldnt shell out more than the league minimum with some incentives though edit: I wasnt predicting he would do this I am just saying it wouldnt surprise me.

    I really didnt take it personnal. Sorry if it came off as preachy or anger or something. I just know that there is alot of money going into big time college FB and BB players hands. I dont think its the coaches in most cases but over-zealous booster. I am just under no illusion that my favorite school is any better than OSU or FSU. Those schools have just had players caught doing stupid things. Heck even Illinois had a player caught taking payments this year. The funny thing is that I think the players deserve to get a little cut of the 15 million for going to a BCS game. I actually wish they would do it in the open instead of under the table were who knows what kind of crook may be paying them. The guy who was paying the Mich BB players was a bookie. Do you really think he was paying them because he loved Michigan BB. Those Michigan teams played more close games to Wright St than you could imagine. HHMMM

    So basically you are saying we need to score way more runs than any other team to be good. I dont think it would work. I have stated before that I dont think what we do offensively will mean a hill of beans if either Prior or Wood are much improved. If we overspend for offense this year we also may tie up our hands to resign our players the next couple of years.

    OK here it is. I have been around some high end college athletes from several different schools. The one thing that I have come to understand is it is just who gets caught. I will admit that I have never been around any of Charlie Weiss's kids at ND but I have no illusions that money is not going into their hands. I will say this about Mich St, Ohio St, Mich, illinios and any other big time college program and I will certainly not leave out ND. Is Charlie Weiss doing it, probably not but some booster probably is. I also dont think Jim Tressel is doing it but some booster probably is. If for some reason you think that ND is on some higher moral playing ground than OSU I would recommend coming down. Most Mich fans thought the same way until the incedent with the BB team. It most certainly could happen to ND football also. If you dont believe me next season before a ND home game go to the players parking lot and see what they are driving. I would venture to say the same Lexuses that Maurice Clarett was driving. Leased to some booster I would bet also.

    We would regret trading Murton for anyone over 30. Why would you acquire Wilkerson and then trade Murton. Why dont we go with the younger cheaper and probably at least as good player. I will say this if our lineup next year is Wilkerson RF Bradley CF Lee 1B ARam 3b Walker 2B Barrett C Murton LF Cedeno/Perez SS This would be a much improved and more consistent offense then what we put out there last year. It would still be in the top 5 in the NL in Slugging and would make a humongous improvement in OBP. This lineup would aslo be better than what the White Sox, Astros, Angels or Cardinals put out last year. If than either Wood or Prior come back and are Cy Young candidates we would be in good shape. This lineup would also make room for future growth and leave money to resign Prior, Lee, Z and ARam.

    Dont the Mets go on these off season spend-a-thons about 1 out of 3 years. Though this is 2 seasons in a row. I predict the Mets will not make the playoffs.

    There was a couple on there I didnt agree with but I would like to add some more. Duke Basketball NBA coverage(I am not a big NBA fan to begin with and there coverage is just unbearable, expecially since TNTs is so good) Duke Basketball No more Australian rules football(after dan folgleburgh in the 70s Ausie rules fb taught us all how to be men again) Duke Basketball The rest of ACC Basketball Duke Basketball Yankees and Red Sox Duke Basketball On the college football note, if it wasnt for Herbstriet it would be just one big wasteland of bad, bad, bad coverage

    This is why the Pac Ten doesnt get any respect. In games against the 3 teams that would be tied UCLA would be 1-0, USC 1-1 and oregon 0-1. Of course saying that I still think that USC is a better team and would make for a better BCS game than UCLA. About Quinn being a better pro prospect all I am going to say is I dont trust southpaws to be qbs in the NFL

    I also dont think he will repeat last years success. That being said if we would trade him it better be good. For some reason I dont think we would be able to get what he is worth, so we might as well leave it alone. If by the trade deadline we are out of it we might want to consider moving him though.

    If USC loses tomorow wouldnt UCLA be the Pac Ten champions? Wouldnt they get the automatic bid? Am I miss informed? I really did read or hear somewhere that UCLA would be the pac ten champions if they win tomorow

    I think that if Sutter gets in.(I think he should) Than should at least put in Goose Gossage as well. I think Goose was probably the first dominate closer. I am not so sure that McGwire will make it next year.

    Wouldnt it make more sense to leave this year and fall to #10 or so in the draft. Get drafted by a better team. who would you rather get drafted by San Francisco or the Dolphins?(this is just hypothetical, I know the 49ers have alex smith) It may make more sense to leave this year. Also there is no guarantee that he will be in the Heisman running next year. ND could just as easily drop to 7-4 next year, since QBs are tied to team wins he may be out of the running early and still not get drafted higher than 10. Like Matt Leinart I do hope he comes back it would be alot better for college football but I certainly would understand if he left.

    The one thing that I really noticed more than any was that even though North gave him all the opportunity to do it, he gave no endorsement to Matt Murton. Even towards the end when North asked if he would be disappointed if Patterson, Murton and Mabry were his outfield, Dusty said yes, without at least acknowledging Murton as a probable starter. I am worried. Question, I get most of my cub news from NSBB.com. In the last couple of days when they have been having trouble did the Cubs actually sign Mabry? The last I had heard it was just a rumour.

    change of subject. For big Ten fans. I really am glad that we do not have a conference championship game. What I am wondering is do you wish the Big Ten conference games would start a week later so the final games would go until Thanksgiving weekend. I love big Ten football and really love college football as a whole, but without any Big Ten games the last couple of weeks I dont get as excited about the games. If they started the conference season a week later it would allow the teams to either start their season a week later or have a bye week in the pre-season. I personnally would like this I was just wondering if other Big Ten fans thought the same way.
