  1. No, but they will acquire Big Bird, Peace and Belkast for two "insiders' to be named later.
  2. Why do people here keep slamming people on other team's boards as if they're saying these things just to mess wih us? Some of us are WAY too wound up over this. I'm agreeing with you a lot. Watch out, though. Someone is going to call you out for coming to the defense of the insiders. I have no knowledge of who is who on the Orioles board except for what was posted earlier in this thread. I will point out though, that the only labeled insider talking about the Cubs and Roberts during this whole thread on Bedard appears to be a new poster to the Orioles board with a supposed Cubs source whose veracity is openly questioned on the board. Link to Orioles Hangout Insider Re-cap. Their board has been a joke as far as inside information. According to them, Roberts was traded to the Cubs weeks ago. Bingo! You are absolutely correct sir. Too bad Voice of Reason is already taken, How about I let you borrow it for today?
  3. If must be a slow off season if we wait with baited breath for every word that guys with names like Peace and Big Bird have to say. These "insiders" are probably the washrooom attendants at Oriole headquarters.
  4. The law of averages says "very very soon" someone at OH is bound to get something right based on the amount and number of times they've thrown "stuff" up against the wall and hoped it stuck.
  5. Didn't he average a triple double for the whole year many years back with the Cincinnatti Royals?
  6. Probably because there's nothing else to discuss in here. I think someone convinced me that Rey Sanchez was not going to be able to replace Ryne Sandberg's numbers at 2B somewhere in this thread. Was that before or after the discussion of which "current" Cub player was the best - Tinkers, Evers or Chance?
  7. Just can't let this thread go off first page of active topics. That is all.
  8. Got to be a one year wonder. Prior? David Clyde? Sid Finch?
  9. Ankiel, Franklin, Glaus... Give us your poor, your tired and your cheaters. You forgot about McGwire or were you just referring to active players?
  10. Acording to the "Insiders" at Orioles hangout, the niece of the brother of the cousin of the guy that lives next door to the taxi driver who drove Roberts former Steroid supplier to the airport is 90% sure that said supplier got on a United Airlines plane. Since Chicago is United's hometown airport, the OH insider concluded that the supplier is headed to Chicago and therefore Roberts must be also. It a done deal! Break out the champagne.
  11. Ain't going to happen. Bruce Levine has said there is ZERO % chance and we all know he is never wrong.
  12. or how about starting a thread on whether "clutch" hitting exists since that's never been discussed here.
  13. Just wanted to be on the 100th page of the thread. That is all.
  14. Oops! I still say this in the Orioles "insider" Tony is relying on. http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/bal/fan_forum/oriolesbird.jsp http://www.orioleshangout.com/article.asp?ID=1299
  15. I love it when De Luca tweaks Rogers. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/deluca/734461,CST-SPT-deluca10.article
  16. Hey guys, been away from the board for about 6 hours, just curious if Roberts has been fitted with his Cubs jersey yet or will the press conference be tomorrow?
  17. Care to elaborate? Yes, people on this board need to take the blue tinted sunglasses off and realize this deal is a steal for us. We getting one of the best leadoff men in baseball, an all-star and another great club house guy for pretty much nothing. You guys are blowing your loads over the 2 pitching prospects that have showed us NOTHING. Leadoff isn't a position. All-Stars mean almost nothing. I don't care if someone is the worst clubhouse guy in the world as long as they could play ball. I'm not the biggest fan of this deal, but I wouldn't be bummed if it went down, as long as we made a move for another pitcher (Blanton or Burnett). Basically this isn't the trade I'm worried about (if it stands as Marshall-Gallagher-Cedeno), but what comes after this trade that concerns me. Really? I would. So you would have rather had Bobby Murcer than Reggie Jackson? Bobby was loved by his Yankee teammates and Reggie was hated by them.
  18. If we have enough prospects to do this after the Roberts deal, I will be very happy. There are rumors that ML players could be used to acquire a starter (or at least be the center piece). The AJ Burnett talk mentions DeRosa and Dempster (and perhaps others). The Cubs have parts to trade however, some of the trades could leave them thin against injury and or ineffectiveness. I like DeRosa but I'm for just about any trade for a decent starter that includes Dempster. I predict his luck (high save % with a 5+ ERA) runs out this year. Dump him while you can.
  19. Even Phil Rogers sees the potential downside of trading Gallagher and Marshall. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2008/01/looking-like-a.html
