  1. Wow, the Cards sure have the pixie dust magic flowing now.
  2. Is anybody actually using that argument? That's it's not manly to wear a glove? I wear a glove all the time. But only when I'm, you know, playing. Why do you care about this at all? Teams allow people to come to the ballpark with a glove, announcers tell fans to bring their gloves all the time. Who the hell cares if some 30 year old wears his glove to the game? I don't really care. But it's comical that people think they are protecting themselves from lined shots into the stands because they bring a glove. Bring a glove because your kid wants you to? Absolutely perfect. Bring a glove because you want to catch a couple balls? If it suits you. Bring a glove to protect yourself from major league line drives as you keep score, eat peanuts, converse with others at a game. Laughable. That's all. Nothing about being a man in there at all. Or anywhere in the thread, really. I'll bow out now. Carry on.
  3. Is anybody actually using that argument? That's it's not manly to wear a glove? I wear a glove all the time. But only when I'm, you know, playing. oh for god's sake. seriously? go crush some beer cans on your forehead Yes, it is all about being a man. That's my point entirely. Make sure you wear the eye black and sunglasses so you don't lose the foul popup either.

  5. Exactly. Grab you kid and get down, with you in between the ball and he or she. To try to catch it would be less than ideal. I know we are all awesome at snaring line drives, but what if you miss? You could have gotten in front of it, but you decided to try to snare it? In the article, the Dad mentions he had no time to react. What good was a glove gonna do him?
  6. So, are you guys really saying that you are bringing a glove to the game for protection from balls hit into the stands? Should we make everyone who sits in this area bring a glove, not drink, and refrain from turning to their neighbor to talk? If the area is dangerous, there is a problem that should be fixed. It is definitely NOT the case that the area is only safe if you bring a glove. You really think that this kid (or his dad) stops that line drive if he's got a glove on? When you bring your glove to the game, do you wear it every pitch, and get ready as if it's gonna be hit at you? Come on. If you want to defend being an adult and bringing a glove to a game, that's fine. It's lame, but it's a better argument than "you might be able to stop a screaming line drive hit at you." Gloves are for kids at games. Every guy over age 12 I see who does bring a glove to the game is begging for autographs, saying the ball is for his little kid at home. Maybe he's not stealing from kids, but he is whining for balls. I'd rather steal from kids.
  7. Here's to hoping Harden is good and healthy for the Cubs. As a Cards fan, I've seen good and bad trades with Oakland. Your team has a real shot this year. If the Cards can't beat them, I hope the Cubs get it done. Good luck with Harden. Congrats from a Cards fan on your trade. Sounds like a winner. =D>
  8. I suppose he fits in perfectly with the Cubs. Ramirez, Soriano, even Sosa. Yes, Rodman played for the Bulls, and you loved him when he did. And A-Clown? Can't we get along, living in the same great city of Memphis? ;)
  9. I really don't know what I want. All I know is that it would be easier to stomach if he was sucking. Personally, I still really like Jim, and don't hate the Cubs. If I had had my run with the Cards, I'd enjoy playing CF in Wrigley. I can't deny that. But seeing him succeed against the Cards, after all those years the Cub fans hated him, well I'm disoriented I guess.
  10. Can we get to the important part of the discussion? How on earth did the Cubs get Edmonds to stop showboating, pausing to watch his homers, etc? Did Zambrano kick the crap out of him, whip him with his belt? Or, did the Cubs fans who have long hated Edmonds, just realize that maybe, just maybe, he's not the primadonna they made him out to be? I guess there is a third option - that they are hypocrites and have become Jimmy fans like they did Rodman in 1996.
  11. wow, I had no idea the rep LLF has. Sorry all. I do not expect the 2005 Carp back. I would expect him to be better than anyone not named Wainright though. We'll see. He's not getting any younger either.
  12. hilarious video. . . ending went off a cliff any way that's a Cub fan pulling a prank? hilarious either way.
  13. What is amazing to us Cards fans is how you guys got him to just put his head down and run quickly around the bases.I mean, he never did that in St. Louis. =D>
  14. Making fun of Cards fans who said Carp would be back sooner, that's fine.Calling Carpenter "Prior" is beyond lame. Not even close enough to be a funny joke.
  15. Or it could just be the fact that he's, you know, in his late 30's. And had several concussions. I've been told they do wonders for the hand/eye coordination. I use to make fun of him, but secretly I've always admired his skills on the baseball field. He's probably the best defensive CF in the last 25 years. Are you kidding me??????!!!! He is without question the most overrated defensive CF probably to ever play the game. He made his entire career out of making routine flay balls look like amazing catches. Yeah, he was good at making the diving catch, but if you judge the ball correctly off the bat and take the correct line on it (like Andrew Jones) you have to dive a lot less often. Don't let your biases cloud your judgment. He's not. He's completely accurate in saying Edmonds made a whole lot of more difficult than average catches look like you had to be a superhero to make them. However, he was in fact a very good CF, but not even close to the best of the last 25 years. Griffey Jones Hunter Puckett Lofton Just to name a few that were as good or better than him on an every day basis. Lofton, is a terrible OF.
  16. I feel bad for Mulder. For the Cardinals it's probably better if he doesn't come back as the pixie dust never seemed to help him like it helps most of their other pitchers. it seems like when it comes to pitching, the cardinals don't do well if they go out and try to get really good pitchers. those guys end up pitching poorly and the todd wellemeyers and braden loopers of the world turn into good pitchers. So, so true.
  17. Rick is a tremendous athlete. The throws are incredible. I'd venture to say most pitchers couldn't throw that hard from the OF. They aren't athletic enough to make the movements when not coming off the mound. As for the HGH, nobody dislikes PEDs more than me. As a Cards fan, I gotta hear about how TLR is the kingpin of all juicing - he led McGwire and Canseco to the "trainer" in Oakland, passed it to Giambi. Now Ankiel and of course Pujols are on the drugs. What these people fail to realize is that these drugs were prevalent everywhere in baseball, as it was part of the scene. Just because your player or team hasn't been exposed yet doesn't mean you should assume they are innocent. This isn't a court of law, and they aren't all innocent until proven guilty. It's obvious that use was widespread. Let's get over it and hope that baseball (and all sports) gets the problem under control. Some HGH in 2004 was most likely used by a player desperate to hang on to a chance. I'm pretty sure that story is not limited to Ankiel. Anyway - I happen to be a Cards fan that doesn't dislike the Cubs. I root for them in a little brother sort of way. So I'm hoping both teams stay in the race and play some meaningful baseball late in the year. That would be a fantastic scene. Hopefully they will win a series soon so that we don't have to hear the "Cards pixie dust, Cubs cursed" argument much longer. I enjoy coming here and reading thoughts from one of the best fan bases in the game. Thanks guys.
  18. nobody has won game 3 and 4, just to lose in Game 5? Never?
  19. Marquis at home in Game 4 Rest Big Z for Game 5. Gotta win them all now.
  20. At this point - there is no way you can bring Lilly back for game 5 here. You gotta go Hill and Marquis at home, Big Z in game 5 if you get there. You have to win all three now, Marquis at home > Lilly at AZ.
  21. damn that was a heater that would make Parkman whiff
  22. Livan Hernandez and Micah Owings. We could tie this thing up. I am not giving up yet. This team is very tough at home. That is why last night was crucial. One win at home. Then big Z in Game 4. You'd take your chances in Game 5 right? I mean, the worm has to turn right? EVERY break has gone AZ way so far. Silly cardinal fan. we don't get breaks. 98 years and all. Don't give up. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? WAWAWAWAWHAT? Seriously?

But I don't thnk you can fault us for not having faith. not faulting you man. hang in there.
