  1. And the last world series champ came out of this baseball cesspool. It's crazy. The last three NL WS representatives too. .
  2. I think it's more accurate to say that later in his career, he was overrated defensively. A big reason is because he was previously an excellent defender. That's not just something that happens to Jim Edmonds; players commonly undeserved Gold Gloves and are selected to the All-Star game based on reputation and historical performance. Bingo. I would agree and also add offensive performance at predominately defensive positions to that list . . . Ryne Sandberg made a living making the routine plays, hitting 30 dingers and taking the gold glove.
  3. This thread is hilarious. So the Cards fans are blind sheep because they love Edmonds and think he WAS a great CF. What about the Cub fans who hate him just because he's a Card? They see clearly? At least a couple fans in this thread aren't so biased to see it. He even won a couple gold gloves before he ever made it to St. Louis. http://www.baseball-reference.com/e/edmonji01.shtml
  4. yeah - that's what I figured. I'm guessing we don't really want to know details. . .
  5. What does "final desination" mean. I'm googling and getting what looks like a crappy movie.
  6. wow - a little crush almost like he's seen Marquis before. . .
  7. I've done plenty of stupid things and come out unscathed. That doesn't mean it was a good idea to begin with. See: any time Neifi Perez ever did anything good. That game winning GS in this park was pretty sweet. I was at that game - annual Cards/Cubs outing for a bunch of us, in the batters eye club. Of course, that annual trip also saw the Renteria and Kerry Robinson games. . .
  8. nice TLR outsmarts us all for once. . .
  9. on the Cards broadcast, they just plugged the "Joe Buck show" Can I hang out on this board if I HATE Joe Buck?
  10. It's wrong to hate an opposing player with good defense? I'd find it as more of a compliment than anything else. If that is what it is, sure. It seems most of my Cub fan friends hate him for being pompous or something. I can't remember him doing anything against the Cubs. Nice shot Pie - wow he got into that. I know you mean well, but you might want to tread lightly in here as a Cards fan. Game threads tend to get dicey. understood - thanks I know it will smell like BS, but being from Illinois and having a lot of good friends in Chicago, I root for the Cubs when it doesn't matter to the Cards. And I miss Marquis. There I said it.
  11. Lost??? It appears I joined this forum a day before you - no I'm not lost thanks. Love reading the Cub board. Cub fans are great fans.

  13. the hatred of Edmonds is beyond irrational
  14. you are a goon ramirez, get around the bases already
  15. Bad slide and baserunning? Pitcher coming up? ??
  16. Too bad - the next big stud. Maybe he'll recover strong in 2009.
  17. Picture perfect? Online yes - but weak as hell. The throw to 3rd is what cost the game, as someone else pointed out. THe difference in fundamentals last night was large.
  18. Impressive 95 pages without extra innings . . .
  19. Lidge was out of the closer job last year. not true. He blew a save in their homestand. it was temporary last year He lost the job last year. Got it back this year. Blew a game already this year. It's not like Lidge was dominant last year. He wasn't.
  20. never fails 3rd strike isn't called, batter takes advantage umps suck
  21. It's a fact that sober drivers kill people all the time. Not saying that driving impaired is good, but you could say it's luck anytime you step foot in a car and don't get in an accident. You can't pin all those accidents on the alcohol. Again, not excusing LaRussa. All DUI's are not equal. You have got to be kidding me. Do you think they set the speed limit at 65 because 66 is really dangerous? Or do you think they build leeway knowing people will press the issue. I am not defending driving under the influence. But under the influence starts with the first drink. You must be for zero-tolerance?
