  1. Ha, this last one is awesome. So seriously, what suburb do you live in? No one who actually lives in the city actually gives a damn to rail like this, all the time, on St. Louis. I'm guessing Schaumburg.
  2. In 2006, when they almost caught the Cardinals, the gripe was that if the Astros forced the Cards to make up their 1 game with San Francisco, Barry wouldn't play. He'd come out and said he wasn't making the trip to St. Louis for that game. So it wasn't fair to them that year either. Bottom line is this - if you want to make the playoffs, start winning baseball games before August 15th. This crap happens every year with them.
  3. I'm sure you were sincere, but this wins the award for backhanded compliment of the thread. We'll take them any way we can get them at this point. It's ok, I'm sure he knows that we aren't exactly playing our best baseball right now. Just as easily as you can say the Cardinals could have swept, you can say the Cubs could have swept. One pitch to Pujols, or one Mike Quade stop sign on Soto and we likely win game 1 as well. Exactly.
  4. You have a different one every night huh? Have another Old Style. I speak from experience, I was sentenced to live in the St. Louis area for a few years. LOL - so you must realize that while it's not Chicago, it's also not that bad. Do you live IN Chicago or just the burbs?
  5. I'm sure you will be saying the same thing over on GWRB.com What do you think I'd change? You think I'm on GWRB cursing the Cubs? If you actually looked, you'd see that I am one of those who hopes the Cubs do well if the Cards don't. You probably think differently since I call your bias out, but I do. Congrats on the win and the season. Would you like me to post that at GWRB? I figured it would be more appreciated here.

Well, it was meant to say two things. 1) You guys got lucky this series 2) You guys are the best team in the National League. Good teams find ways to win when they aren't playing their best. I don't think they played their best this series, and they won 2 of 3. The runs yesterday were gifted by Lopez. The runs today were gifted by Welly in the 5th. The complement is that you guys are definintely the best team in the league, and you are finding ways to win. Congrats on the series (and most likely ending the Cards season) and good luck in the playoffs. I hope you guys get it done.

  8. Good win fellas. Congratulations. You guys look lucky and good. The two wins this series came on gift innings. That is the mark of a good team. Go get them in the playoffs.
  9. And that 0-1 pitch was a total strike. I mean it was thigh high and had most of the plate. Not really. It was well inside and curved to be caught in a much better position than it crossed the plate. It happens. But yes, Phelps was well overmatched.
  10. Good lord, should they have cheered? I didn't hear a boo like "that wasn't a strike" come on now. r Come on Face, the Cards fans are just there for the Bud - they' re not watching the game. yeah you are right. . . :D good win tonight fellas. . . congrats. see you guys tomorrow.
  11. Good lord, should they have cheered? I didn't hear a boo like "that wasn't a strike" come on now. Well I did. lol, okay. I'm sure the Cubs fans do nothing of the sort when their guy strikes out looking. Stupid Cardinal fans.

  13. Hrabosky on the Cards broadcast speculated that it could be in St. Louis or KC. stl plz actually the stros might prefer it farther from IL I would totally be there. I wonder how much they would try to get from us for tickets. I just think the state of Texas should have more important things to worry about than a baseball game this weekend. Move it to a sandlot in Memphis for all I care. We have a pretty good (I've heard the best) minor league baseball field in America down here in Memphis.
  14. Impressive yes, but kinda dumb no? I thought I would see more of you guys saying it was a bad risk to take. I cringed when I heard he barreled into Molina, what with the injury concerns we've had with this rotation. Yea that's what I figured I'd say if I were a Cub fan. As it was, I was floored. He went in like he wasn't a pitcher. He looked like a DB. And Yadi was not expecting it. I think the Looper pitch was overblown. . . I mean it's okay to pitch inside, send a message right? Not like he hit him.

  16. Wow, Lilly = tougher (and maybe dumber) than Izturis. Only dumb to try to run over the catcher, being a pitcher and all.
  17. Who is saying this in bold? AP has an ego, that much is true. Of course, it's a general rule (not my rule) that the greater player you are, the more you get away with. Let me know when Bill Hall and great make a sentence together. The rest of this post. . . 1) Yost hitting AP probably started the downfall which led to the Brewers choking themselves out of the wild card. Yost is playing beanball in a pennant race? If anybody would be mad, it would be that the Cards had a big hand in spoiling the Brewers last year. 2) The Brewers have been given at least 3 games vs. the Cards. If you want to claim dominance, fine. The run differentials of the teams would disagree. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/standings I should've clarified -- it's mostly been the Cards fans that were upset about the go-ahead HR's..."Kill Bill" photoshop jobs, calling for LaRussa to drill both Braun and Hall, etc. The players on the field didn't seem too happy about it, either, so I wouldn't be surprised to see either get conveniently plunked (for the record, I really don't care what players do to celebrate -- if pitchers can jump around and pump their fists after a strikeout, hitters should be able to watch their go-ahead home runs, regardless of how good they are). I never claimed dominance, either. True, the Brewers are 9-4 against the Cards this year, but they could just as easily be 4-9...it's probably fair to say that the Brewers have effectively played like garbage against the Cards this year but were able to hang around long enough to steal a few wins. It's been a frustrating year against the Brewers for the Cards, which is why I wouldn't be surprised to see them take this series a hell of a lot more seriously than the Brewers. Kill Bill or drilling Hall is classless. Every team has their lunatic fringe. These should be decent games. The Brewers bent the Cards over last time in STL, so if they aren't ready now they will never be. I just hope that if the Cards don't get the wild card, that the Brewers do (instead of anyone from the East). I've been waiting for a Cubs / Cards NLCS - but short of that, a Brewers / Cubs NLCS would be great as well. I'm all for dominance from the NL central.

  19. did i miss like a whole month of baseball or something? you are right, it's not a lock. Only 89% certainty according to BP. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/ps_odds.php The Cubs are pretty close and show no signs of letup. They are pounding the teams the bad teams as you should when you are in 1st place.
  20. Definitely do or die for my Cardinals. What is funny is seeing how the series is billed - "Central division showdown" Considering the Cubs have pretty much wrapped the division, it should say "Wild Card hopeful showdown" http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/images/2008/08/24/RfEYv8gV.jpg
  21. 4.5 is a decent lead guys. What, 6 weeks to play if that?
  22. How does a city hate another city? This doesn't make sense to me. For Cards fans, it is simple. Where do you live. If you live near Cub fans, you probably hate the Cubs. I live in Memphis, don't hate the Cubs. I am much like the guy dumby in the video is mimmicking, saying "If not the Cards, then I don't mind the Cubs" because many of my best friends are die hard Cub fans who deserve to win it. I would think all Cubs fans hate the Cards because of most recent success. I would also assume that overall w/l since the beginning of time means very little. Does anybody actually pay attention to that or know what the count is? My guess that is pretty rare.
