  1. Minnesota looked good against Butler today. It would appear, after Wisconsin's good showing in Maui and Michigan's OT win over Creighton, that the gulf between 7th and 8th in the Big Ten this year is a veritable ocean. Although, I guess we still don't know what to really think about Illinois yet.
  2. I think you mean Nashville.
  3. Just for kicks, that was also the only regulation home loss SJ has had this year.
  4. They lost 8-0 to Phoenix in 06-07. EDIT: And back in 1992-93, they lost 13-1 to Calgary.
  5. Hawks still need another 5 to tie for the worst loss in Sharks history. :)
  6. I'm honestly not concerned whether they win tonight or not. It's really the Red Wings they have to show they can beat.
  7. I think the final score of the DePaul-Tennessee game last night said a lot more about DePaul than it did about Tennessee.
  8. Wow, LA loses because Donovan missed a PK. That wasn't what I was expecting.
  9. Tonight's win actually puts the Hawks first in the NHL in points per game. Sure, they're 4 shy of SJ overall, but they've played 3 fewer games, and are slightly ahead of the Sharks on a per-game basis.
  10. I don't want to watch the Bears lose, but I'm sure taking Minny in my survivor pool next week.
  11. Here comes the 5 minute 2 minute offense.
  12. Finally, a play nobody else could make.
  13. Yeah, big fat guys who are strong and don't move well. He doesn't have a chance against a fast DE like Collinsworth said. You'd think he could at least touch him on the way by.
  14. It appears not. The Bears pay Olin to snap poorly, commit false start penalties, and have a mean streak.
  15. Wow, the offensive line continues to set new standards of awful.
  16. Olsen was triple covered on the 3rd down play because nobody else was in the end zone. WTF kind of play call was that?
  17. Bell currently 1st all time in yards per carry.
  18. I imagine when Illinois scheduled this game, they anticipated a warmup for a bowl game. Just not Cincy's warmup.
  19. Not a bad run eh? Yea they came out asleep, but once they woke up, they have looked pretty good. This team is going to be fun to watch, and could be really tough come late Jan/early Feb. I'm most relieved that they've picked up the defensive intensity for the first time all year.
  20. Illini on a 52-12 run since they woke up 12 minutes into the game.
  21. An interesting analysis and discussion comment on the probable seeding process. And oh God, please to that mock draw: South Africa, Serbia, USA, Uruguay
  22. There's no doubt, although the fact that they didn't say "no" right away is odd. Rule V is clear: referee's decisions on the field are not subject to any sort of anything after the fact. Do you know the background/details of the 2005 match that was replayed? That one was actually one of the biggest backfires of all time. Uzbekistan and Bahrain were in qualifying playoffs for an AFC spot in the 2006 World Cup (well, a playoff to a playoff with T&T). Uzbekistan, leading 1-0 at home in the first leg, was awarded a PK. They scored, but the referee disallowed it because another Uzbek player was in the box. Rather than re-attempt the PK, as was rule, the referee awarded Bahrain a free kick. Uzbekistan protested the 1-0 final result, saying it should be a forfeit and a 3-0 result. FIFA compromised with a game replay. That game? Ended 1-1, and Bahrain advanced on 2-1 aggregate. 23. i think you should look at vazquez's numbers And Haren's, for that matter. And I think you guys need to look at Carpenters numbers, for that matter. If you read up, you may notice neither of us whining that Carpenter didn't deserve to be on anyone's ballot. Carpenter had a higher pitching VORP than Haren/Vazquez, Haren/Vazquez had better K rates, better PRC, and didn't benefit as much from his defense as Carpenter. Carpenter did have a better HR rate, though. Nobody's saying Carp didn't deserve support, but Vazquez and Haren had just as much business being on a Cy Young ballot as Carp/Wainwright. This could just be the first year when some BBWAA voters looked beyond wins and ERA to determine their votes.
  24. i think you should look at vazquez's numbers And Haren's, for that matter.
  25. C'mon AFC and NZ When is the draw again? Dec 5th? 4th? Draw is the 4th, but I think they'll announce the pod setup before then. At least, that's what I remember from 2006. Maybe they changed the rules again.
