Watching these Gold Cup games mostly because I'm oddly curious who the 4th best CONCACAF team is right now (USA, Mexico and Canada seem to have separated themselves as the top 3 at this point). Costa Rica looks like the 4th best team in their Gold Cup group. Whenever they aren't playing at home, they're awful. Jamaica looked interesting against the US B team, but just won their first game in a year Wednesday. Honduras doesn't look like a finalist for WC26 qualifying (which, remember, will not include any of USA/MEX/CAN) El Salvador just lost to Martinique I guess Panama looks okay, but they routinely toss up a stinker against an inferior opponent.

Nashville hockey journalist went around Nashville yesterday talking to random people on the street about the draft, and I think this fan Kyle from Chicago has some good things to say: -
6 it is then. Just repeat it against T&T and they'll win the group, facing the 2nd place team in Canada's group in the knockout (though, Canada drew the worst team in their group, so the 2nd place team could be Canada).

It's looking like the USMNT will be in a scenario where they'll have to try to run up the score vs T&T to win the group. I, for one, am okay with this.

This also happened to be the first weekend my 5yo really got into watching the games. After the win tonight, his only question was " Is watching USA soccer always this fun?" My response was " It might be."

I know the Gold Cup is effectively meaningless this year, but I still want to see the USMNT field an A squad against T&T just to bury them like 10-0.

Look, if you can't see the humor in what is objectively the worst possible answer to the question "What team are you a fan of?", that's on you.

TT already pointed this out, but this is a good illustration of the logical inconsistency of the argument for 10 being batting around. In that first diagram, it looks like the next inning would start with Madrigal, not Nico. The inning doesn't end on the 9th batter, it ends after the 9th batter. So the line needs to be drawn to Nico, so the next inning would start with Nico. The dots are the players, and the arrows are the ABs, so Nico leads off, the AB taken points to Dansby who bats next, and so on and so forth. So when Madrigal ends this theoretical inning, logically, the AB should complete and the line drawn to Nico, would would start the next batting process in the next inning. When 10 batters bat, it doesn't look like your second diagram, that diagram would need 2 arrows from Nico to Dansby, since Nico gets 2 ABs.

This is a bizarre analogy because a lineup is a line, not a circle. If you arranged the order in a circle, 9 batters would make a complete circle.

Clearly, batting around is 9 if you bat 9. 10 is an overlap.

Look, I'll go out on a limb here and say if the Cubs offense continues to average scoring 10 runs per game, I like their chances.

I still think they should appeal the Wes red, I didn't see anything on camera that Wes did in particular any differently than anyone else. Sergino has to be smarter about being goaded into a red, though. The referee completely lost control of the match after the 3rd goal and should never work one of these games again. Punish Mexico for gooning it up right away, hell, give them 2 reds at the beginning of that shitshow, and it doesn't devolve the way it did.

I see that Dallas responded in true Texas pearl-clutching fashion and withdrew from the tournament because of the slanderous allegation, rather than investigating it.

US U-20s make their fourth straight World Cup quarterfinals. They have lost in the quarters in the last 3 WCs. Their opponent this time will be either Gambia or Uruguay.
