  1. I'm secretly hoping for the jackpot scenario: - Bulls sign LeBron - Bulls work out a sign and trade for Bosh that sends Deng to Toronto - Wade becomes angry that the Heat left him with nothing and didn't get either LeBron or Bosh and leaves for Chicago.
  2. Hey, the US finished ahead of England and Mexico, so that's something.
  3. There's a halfway decent chance all 4 of the semifinalists will be South American teams between Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay (granted, Paraguay would have to beat Japan and upset Spain, but Spain hasn't exactly looked amazing the last week).
  4. Oh, and maybe I'm wrong here, but did Howard make a single good save during the World Cup? Against England, maybe, but that's 3 games in a row where he had to deal with 1-2 good chances and couldn't make the difference in either of them.
  5. Sigh...nope, still pissed about soccer. *expletive*.
  6. It's mostly frustrating because the US had the better of the chances, they totally earned the PK, and two stupid giveaways early in the run of play in the first half and extra time did them in. What the hell is with the defensive lapses in the early going? Also, the finishing again was atrocious. And, the "gamesmanship" from Ghana was disgusting, and the referee really needed to do something about it. By then, the USMNT was totally gassed (thanks again, Rico!), and they weren't scoring anyway, but it was totally classless.
  7. Honestly, that's a very par result given the quality of the U.S. team and who we faced. It's not good or bad, it's just who we are. No, I do not accept the results. They are a freaking third world country who has slightly more than 24 million people, we have over 300 million the odds are in our favor, why can our women do it? I will give them credit for being better ball handlers And what is this flopping down crap by the Ghanaians, why does that rule exist that you have that ability to chew the clock up with poor acting? I think the House and Senate should start a full investigation into this matter and stick with our brothers the French. Just stick to things you know, like...
  8. Edwin Jackson hasn't given up a hit through 8 innings. He's walked 7 and thrown 134 pitches, but hasn't given up a hit.
  9. And so, we have the bottom 16 teams in the 2010 World Cup: 32. North Korea (0 Pts, -11 GD) 31. Cameroon (0 Pts, -3 GD) 30. Honduras (1 Pt, -3 GD, 0 GS) 29. France (1 Pt, -3 GD, 1 GS) 28. Algeria (1 Pt, -2 GD, 0 GS) 27. Nigeria (1 Pt, -2 GD, 3 GS) 26. Italy (2 Pts) 25. Greece (3 Pts, -3 GD, 2 GS) 24. Denmark (3 Pts, -3 GD, 3 GS) 23. Serbia (3 Pts, -1 GD) 22. New Zealand (3 Pts, 0 GD) 21. Australia (4 Pts, -3 GD) 20. South Africa (4 Pts, -2 GD) 19. Switzerland (4 Pts, 0 GD, 1 GS) 18. Slovenia (4 Pts, 0 GD, 3 GS) 17. Ivory Coast (4 Pts, 1 GD)
  10. Chile and Spain just truced in the 89th minute. You can tell the fans are upset with the angry vuvuzela sounds.
  11. 10-man Chile cuts the deficit in half early in the second, which is HUGE for their advancement hopes.
  12. Isner lost his second round match in straight sets 6-0,6-3,6-2, with zero aces.
  13. I'm not even sure I'd still list the NBA on the second tier, either. Third tier is catching NBA fast, if they haven't already.
  14. Still just takes one goal in either game to change everything. Well, unless Australia scores it... ;) (Well, AUS would finish 3rd with SER 4th, but it's still GHA-GER 1-2)
  15. Halftime scoreless in both group D matches, which really is the worst-case scenario for the US, as two ties puts Germany second and results in them facing the US team.
  16. I don't know if the winner can even survive their next match. At this rate, the winner will be due on court for their next match immediately.
  17. 50-50 now. For perspective, a typical straight-sets match has around 30 games.
  18. Still going at 48-47 in the fifth.
  19. Kyle's point was that the chances of the US advancing after a draw was not significantly different than their chances of advancing after a loss. What Kyle is conveniently neglecting is the effect on the US winning the group, which in fact made all the difference in the group.
  20. There's a decent chance of a Netherlands-Italy-Brazil-Spain quarter next to the US quarter. That's crazy.
  21. I forgot Australia had a point. So playing Australia is a realistic, if unlikely, scenario.
  22. Ghana would finish 2nd with a Germany and Serbia win today which is one of the more likely scenarios. BTW, the odds on 538 has the US playing Serbia 48% of the time, Ghana 29%, Germany 16.5%, and Australia 6%. If Germany and Serbia win, the US plays the tiebreak loser of Germany and Serbia. If Germany and Australia win, then US plays Ghana If Ghana and Serbia win, the US plays Serbia. If Ghana and Australia win, the US plays Germany, unless Australia wins like 8-0. If Serbia wins and Ghana and Germany tie, the US plays Ghana.
  23. Personally, I'm hoping Germany either wins group D or fails to advance. In all likelihood, the US will play Serbia or Germany (for Ghana to finish second, Germany and Australia would need to win. For Australia to finish second, they have to beat Serbia 3-0 and Ghana has to win).
  24. Altidore run up the right side, cross to Dempsey 3 feet from the goal line, off the goalie, right to Donovan, put it in an empty net.
