  1. Ashley Young off the crossbar, 2-2 after three rounds.
  2. 2-1 England after two rounds with Gerrard and Rooney converting for England, Balotelli for Italy, Italy's second kick was wide.
  3. To this point, neither team has shown that they'll be much of a match for Germany.
  4. Partially because Germany is really good, partially because they're playing the runner up in a group I think the USMNT could have won.
  5. At his current progression, though, he'll be ready to contribute to the Cubs when he's 40.
  6. Skip and co were going on about how LeBron and the Heat were just unstoppable this year and so much better than last year, and Cuban just tore it up. Went into depth about the Mavs defensive scheming, how OKC apparently didn't look at any of that tape last year, because their defense didn't try anything they did to stop the Heat last year. Then this exchange happened: Skip: "Yeah, what did you guys do last year to stop them? A zone or something?" Cuban: "If you never watch any tape, you don't know what questions to ask." Skip: "We don't always have access to tapes." Cuban: "It has nothing to do with access. It has everything to do with effort."
  7. Mark Cuban just destroyed the hosts of First Take, especially Skip, on ESPN. The man just schooled them all on basketball analysis.
  8. Didn't he finish second in DPOY voting or something? That's the kind of reputation that will follow him around for the rest of his career now.
  9. I don't know if I can think of another prospect whose development curve was botched as much as Corey Patterson.
  10. This guy was damned exciting at Lansing. Fortunately, the Cubs were extremely patient with him and didn't promote him over-aggressively..
  11. The other day a friend of mine postulated that the MLS commissioner was by far the best commissioner in sports right now, and I have a hard time refuting that.
  12. Mariners: "So, how available is Starlin Castro?" Cubs: *click* Mariners: "So, how available is Billy Butler?" Royals: *click* Mariners: "Evan Longoria?" *click* "Bryce Harper?" *click* "Mike Trout?" *click* "Matt Kemp?" *click* "Troy Tulowitzki?" *click* ...

    Week 12

Avila off the DL, into the lineup at utility. 5th starter pitcher roulette continues once more to get to 7 starts.
  14. If a 15.8% K rate is too high, the bar is set a little high.
  15. Ten teams have been ruled ineligible for the 2013 NCAA tournament due to poor classroom performance as evaluated by the APR: Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Cal State Bakersfield, California-Riverside, Jacksonville State, Mississippi Valley State, North Carolina-Wilmington, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Toledo, Towson...and UConn.
  16. Koyie Hill actually has the worst OPS+ of any Cub in history that accrued at least 500 PA with the club at 46. Aaron Miles was a 20 in 170 PA, Lenny Harris was a 28 over 146 PA, and Augie Ojeda was a 43 over 359 PA. Other Cubs have accrued a lower offensive WAR simply because they played a lot more. Don Kessinger "leads" that list, but Hill is 18th behind such Cub legends as Joe Girardi, Rey Sanchez, Shawon Dunston, Manny Trillo, Ivan De Jesus, and Randy Hundley.
  17. This was just the second time this year the Cubs won while scoring fewer than 3 runs.
  18. He was ranked the Indians #10 prospect after the 2008 season. http://www.baseballamerica.com/statistics/players/cards/83780
  19. Theocracy gets Scoscia's 6th rd pick in the Billingsley-Avila deal.
  20. I suppose every player has their one insane hater. How is comparing his .551 OPS to a black hole in the lineup considered insane? Because he hasn't played for six weeks due to injury and this is his first game back?
  21. I suppose every player has their one insane hater.
  22. Still not over. Croatia still only needs one.
  23. Spain really playing with fire here playing so conservatively. Sure, a 0-0 draw puts them through, but they're one goal allowed from being out.
  24. Croatia yes; Spain goes through when they draw. I'd imagine Spain would want to win the group, though, and Italy wins the group with a 0-0 Spain/Croatia draw. I believe I read that Spain wins the group with a win OR a draw, regardless of the other results. Edit: http://www.sbnation.com/soccer/2012/6/18/3094016/group-c-euro-2012-advance-scenarios-spain-italy-croatia-ireland That's wrong. http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/news/newsid=1818000.html If Spain and Croatia draw 0-0 and Italy wins, Italy wins group C on tiebreaker c, most goals in games between tied teams (2 to 1 each for SPA/CRO) and Spain advances on overall goal differential ahead of Croatia. EDIT: If Spain and Croatia draw 1-1, Spain wins the group if Italy doesn't win by at least 5 goals, and Croatia would advance if Italy doesn't win by 3. If Spain and Croatia draw 2-2, Spain wins the group and Croatia finishes second.
