  1. Meaningless quirk that probably only I find funny: If the playoffs started after week 1, the Bears would miss the playoffs and Cincy would win the division.
  2. Robbie Gould has made his last 11 FGAs over 50 yards.
  3. Both teams came out of this game tied for first place, so everyone wins.
  4. I see National Jump to Conclusions week has gotten off to an early start already.
  5. 28 points is more than Illinois scored in any FBS game last season.
  6. So, uh, Illinois is up 14-0 right now. Vegas knows stuff. 21-0 now. getting some homecooking too After last season I'll take anything.
  7. Pedro over The Rocket, or even Boggs, seems a little crazy to me Plus Ted Williams is already there, and not having a Bruin is wrong. I'd pick Phil Esposito.
  8. I'm glad we finally have one location where we can toss every SCS post.

    Rizzo

Rizzo is Mark Grace with a better eye.
  10. My fantasy opponent has Manning and Thomas. I have Justin Tucker. Next week looks promising.
  11. The White Sox are apparently pitching Jose Quintana on two days' rest, because...I got nothing.
  12. Parks keeps making the right choices, then.
  13. in some of the country that's true Yeah, around here, there is immensely more interest in youth soccer than youth baseball. My son's youth baseball league (combined boys and girls) had just under 60 total players age 4-6. The same area's fall soccer league (also combined boys and girls) has 130 players age 5-6, not including the players that play in the U8 traveling league.
  14. I'll disagree with this. I've always liked baseball, but didn't really get fully into it until more of the stats stuff became mainstream and it really appealed to the scientific side of my brain. I think it does take a certain mindset to enjoy it though, especially if you didn't play a lot growing up. Baseball is really the one true team sport that lends itself well to advanced individual analysis, since so little of a player's game is really other- or team-dependent (R, RBI, E).
  15. Strop is Dutch for noose, lose, or ceiling, depending on dialect and usage.
  16. Hewitt up 2 breaks on Del Potro in the 5th set.
  17. For a second there, I thought you went full-SEC and were thinking NASCAR.
  18. Hockey is certainly the fastest team sport in America. As far as goals off of broken plays, it's more rare than you think, and deflections are often planned, as many times a player is specifically in front of the net for that purpose, as it's the most effective way to put a puck past the goalie with the advances in goalie equipment and strategy.
  19. Rizzo now 2-2 with a walk and HR. This is like everything I ever imagined for the Cubs future.
  20. Sandberg is my favorite player from my childhood, I have his jersey at home and he's always worn my favorite number, but I still can't help but laugh and picture him every time an opponent hits a HR and muttering in the dugout, "That kid didn't show enough respect after that HR. Throw at two of their players to show them the right way to play."
  21. Playing the game the right way, by sending messages with deadly weapons.
  22. You correlate hockey with concussions and then defend college football? That's smart. SEC quality education at work.
  23. Might have preferred Gomez to Johnson, but it's not bad at all.
  24. Kenley Jansen let a Cub reach base. Before that, Jansen vs. the Cubs: 3.2 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 10 K.
  25. Jackson has allowed 7 men to reach base, and 4 of them scored.
