looking at the records of all of these teams and then seeing the cubs as a road team in the wild card game makes me mildly irate. Just because the 95-67 Royals have home field advantage throughout the playoffs and the 97-65 Cubs can't have home field advantage in any round?
Also, I know the Cards stopped trying a week ago, but the Cubs ended the season just 3 games out of first place, which is the closest they'd been since May.
It's probably meaningless, but I envision the Pirates home crowd like the Cubs crowd in 2008. Just waiting for something bad to happen. Just score 3 runs and take it from there.
Phillies win, meaning no team loses 100 games this season. EDIT: Also, Ichiro Suzuki pitched at the end of that game. He threw a slider. EDIT 2: [tweet]https://twitter.com/iamjoonlee/status/650784783543443457[/tweet]
Lost in the crazy Angels comeback is that it came against the Rangers' closer, Shawn Tolleson, who was working his FIFTH consecutive day/game. Note that the Rangers had a 4 run lead to start the inning.
