  1. However, their next 10 games are rough, with 7 road games and home games against the Knicks, 76ers and Spurs. If they're still above .500 after that stretch, maybe they can climb out of the play-in hellscape they created for themselves.
  2. This is only the 4th time the Bulls have started 4-0 since 1990.
  3. Going by ELO, the Hawks are still just 31st (ahead of San Jose) in terms of efficiency, which isn't great. Going by SRS, which is more of an analysis of production, the Hawks are currently in the 3rd tier of NHL teams, above average compared to the league. By that stat, there are effectively 6 tiers of teams at the moment: Great teams: Carolina, Colorado, New Jersey Good teams: Vegas, Pittsburgh, Washington, Utah Pretty good teams: Winnipeg, Columbus, Chicago, Anaheim, NY Islanders, Montreal Average teams: NY Rangers, Seattle, Philadelphia, Boston, Toronto Bad teams: Los Angeles, Buffalo, Detroit, Edmonton, Vancouver, Florida, Dallas, Minnesota, Tampa Bay, Nashville Terrible teams: San Jose, St. Louis, Ottawa, Calgary Granted, we're only 10% of the way through the season, but they're clearly out of the bottom tier of the league right now, which is something fun after 3 years of awful. EDIT: I think the difference between their ELO and their performance highlights how good Knight has been in goal, as he's helped the Hawks steal at least a few points thus far.
  4. Your 2025 Chicago Bulls...
  5. From a Chicago Fire perspective, year 1 of the Gregg era has to be seen as a rousing success. FIrst playoff berth since 2017, and with tonight's 3-1 win, first postseason goal since 2012 and first postseason win since 2009. Fire managed 24(!) shot attempts, and really dominated this game, which is not something I'm used to seeing from the Fire since...well, ever? Fire closed the season strong, losing just 2 of their final 15 games. Unfortunately, one of those losses was 4-0 against Philly, their next opponent.
  6. Good: Bulls had a 16 point lead after the first quarter, a larger lead than they had after any first quarter last year. Bad: Bulls blew a 22 point 3rd quarter lead (and a 15 point lead going into the 4th) with a minute to play. Meh: Bulls closed out a close victory against a middling team, looking to place themselves 9th in conference again.
  7. Through 7 weeks, the best 4 teams have been the Lions, Seahawks, Rams and Colts, and then a significant dropoff to the rest (Chiefs are 5 on an island, then Packers and Texans, then a bunch of meh teams with varying records)
  8. You are just on a roll this week of not understanding things, I guess, better to be gleefully ignorant I suppose, as long as you can stop being so dismissive about it. DVOA is opponent adjusted, so being #9 suggests the Bears have actually played well since week 2, and aren't just taking advantage of a weak schedule.
  9. Also things like "The Bears have played better of late, it's not just the quality of opponent" are actually true.
  10. Right now they aren't a playoff quality team, but they have a definite chance to finish in the top 30, which is a feat in itself after the last few years. Looking at ELO rankings, they're currently 30th, ahead of Calgary and San Jose, with a bit of a gap yet between them and #29 (Anaheim). There's still a larger gap between them and a playoff spot (16th, which right now is Florida) than them and San Jose, who is way below everyone else.
  11. The Giants have given up 33 points in the 4th quarter, and lose 33-32.
  12. Lucky, today's conditions really helped make the game sloppy which should have helped the Saints keep the game close (reminded me of when a terrible Bears team beat the Super Bowl 49ers on a sloppy day in Chicago a few years back). Caleb actually did really well under pressure, just terrible when he had time to survey the field, almost like he was purposely told not to scramble for yards today.
  13. Ball don't lie. Terrible penalty call results in INT and quick TD.
  14. Conditions are rough for offenses. Saints D is bad but sloppiness is affecting both sides now.
  15. One. One downfield throw. That was a miss.
  16. Conditions are very rough in Chicago today. As one would notice from the snap and fumble issues.
  17. That should have been a flag as the center never gave up the ball. They got 3 points so meh.
  18. The Saints are one of 3 teams the the Bears haven't beaten since the Lovie Smith era (Eagles, Dolphins). They've lost 8 straight vs the Saints.
  19. I hope the Hawks are more competitive this season, and that starts with scoring more than 2 goals per game. So, leading the league in goals scored as of today is a start. Two years ago, they finished with 52 points, 30 points shy of being a normal bad team and 50 points shy of being a playoff team. Last year they finished with 61 points, 15 points shy of being a normal bad team and 35 points shy of a playoff team. This year, if they can finish even with the other 5th place teams in the league, it's a significant jump. If they can somehow get 90 points, they'll be exciting.
  20. NFL Tiers after week 6: Good news, the Bears are basically even with the 49ers and Eagles. Plus...they may have already played the best teams int he NFC East? Bad news, there are really only 9 teams clearly worse than the Bears right now, though each of their next 4 opponents is in that list. Defense has come a long way the past 3 weeks though.
  21. If the Bears D does anything in the 4th quarter against the Vikings in week 1, the Bears would be leading the division and have the 2nd best record in the NFL.
  22. The Bears fan in me: Man, the Bears got robbed on that Odunze TD, completely changed the complexion of the game and made them scramble from there. Totally unacceptable call in that situation. The Fantasy football owner who beat a team with Odunze by 3 points: Man, horsefeathers happens I guess, Bears still won, not worth being concerned about the details.
  23. Maybe PSU and UNC should swap coaches. I bet UNC makes that trade in less than a heartbeat. Put another way, what are the chances PSUs next coach is worse? 75%?
  24. The Brewers had a 6 week stretch of baseball this season where they went 37-4. That stretch counts and is the most insane 41 game stretch in MLB history. Outside that stretch, the Brewers are 62-62.
