  1. Thank you Northwestern!
  2. yeah I had a cold last week, it sucks. please hold onto this NU. A win sends Illinois back into a tie for 1st :)
  3. yeah tell me about it. And why did Ben inbound the ball on the final play? To give the ball to one of the slowest shooters on the team with .7 seconds left? I guess I'll be enjoying the 2 lotto picks this year
  4. Ben hits a 3 to send this game against the Jazz into OT.
  5. that is a great staff...like everyone said though, the key is going to be if they will be healthy. If all of them stay healthy for the good majority of the year, there's no reason this team shouldn't be able to contend with the Cards. but realistically, I don't think the pitching staff is going to be healthy this year :( Prove me wrong Woody.
  6. i get sick and couldn't go to the Convo Center tonight to see NIU beat Ball St. so I stay home and listen to the SIU game online and they lose their first home game since January of 2002, to INDIANA FREAKING STATE. Man am I pissed off right now.
  7. according to scout.com, Illinois as of right now has the #27 recruiting class. Hopefully Zook actually uses this talent unlike the way he did in Florida.
  8. 55-43 Illini!!!
  9. the foul disparity is an absolute JOKE.
  10. Illinois on a 21-4 run to end the half. Looking like the exact opposite of the Illini-Hoosiers game.
  11. an 8-0 Illini run has them only down by 3 now. Go Illini!
  12. Okay, now you're just putting words in my mouth. One question, do you think the BCS is a fair system? Cause if you do, then there's no point even going on in this. the BCS isn't a fair system, but the RPI is fair to the mid-major teams unlike the polls. The MVC has 4 teams around the top 25 in the RPI rankings, however the pollsters only have 1 MVC team in the top 25. The pollsters won't put mid-majors in the top 25...look at UNI. They are 18-3 and they play in the 5th highest conference in the country yet this week was the 1st time they made the top 25 for the whole season. I am glad that the RPI is a much bigger component for the selection committee then the pollsters.
  13. So because they use it to determine the field, that makes it more accurate? That would mean that a team's last ten games should determine their ranking. And it also should mean that Wisconsin is the 8th best team in the country. it doesn't necessarily mean they are the 8th best team in the country...they've just had the combination of home wins, road wins (which increases the RPI more than home wins), and SOS to go their way to get them 8th in the RPI.
  14. the MVC is very very good this year...they should get 4 teams in the big dance this year in UNI, SIU, Creighton, and Wichita St. I would not have been that embarassed to lose to UNI, they are going to win at least one game in the tourny this year...mark it down. I'm not really that bummed about it, since they do have a pretty darn good team. Plus, it was on their home court, went to OT, and Horner was injured. The frustrating part is that we just can't seem to beat them in Cedar Falls. They are very good, I am glad we don't have to go to SIU every other year. Now playing tham at a nuetral court or at home would be ok. i hope SIU can play Illinois at least once in Carbondale in the next 4 years when I'm down there. Of course, I'd rather see them face each other in the national championship game this year  I highly doubt that happens. Perhaps the biggest criticism I have with my alma mater is their reluctance to play the top basketball schools in Illinois. We refused to play DePaul in the 80's, and pretty much refuse to play SIU even in a home and home series. We did play Bradley a few years ago in Peoria, but I think that was only because of Frank Williams and Sergio McClain were from there. I may be a cynic, but I don't think the MVC is any stronger this year than previous years. They'll likely send one team to the sweet sixteen, which they've done in the past, but I don't see any more than that. Weber has stated he would love to do it, but I don't think Guenther will ever give in to it. i thought I heard Weber say last year that he'd like a 3 year series with SIU where they have a game at a neutral site (like the UC), a game in Champaign, and a game in C'Dale. IMO, I think Guenther would give into Bruce if he pushed him hard enough for it.

  17. Illinois-Wisco tomorrow...Illinois could take a huge step in winning the conference with a big road W tomorrow at Wisky.
  18. yeah that'll be fun...NIU is pretty bad, nearly lost to CMU a few days ago before rallying with 3 minutes left and we were trailing EMU before going on a run with around 6 minutes left. The MAC is a joke in terms of basketball this year...last year, there were about 3 teams that really could have made the big dance. Ohio is real inconsistant this year as well...they lost to NIU @ NIU and today they lost to Miami Ohio at Athens. As of right now, I'd say Kent St. would win the tourny, but don't put too much on that.
  19. Go Minnesota...hopefully there will still be 4 teams atop the Big 10 standings after this game instead of 5 :)
  20. i think that's 3 games in a row where he has received no playing time. He's definitely in the doghouse...I wish someone in the media had the guts to ask Skiles why Sweetney is not getting any playing time. at least we won...let's hope for an over .500 road trip, doubtful, but I'd like to see it happen.
  21. so the MAC West winner will get the #2 seed then in the MAC Tourny? Interesting...
  22. i think they lost to Marshall last year as well.
  23. Illinois wins 77-53 :D
  24. yeah I did...Paul Davis definitely got fouled on a layup opportunity late in the game and there was no foul call. I can see how MSU fans were pissed tonight...Michigan is not that bad of a team though this year.
