  1. Eh, we might have. Remember when Novoa had that RBI double against the Cards a few weekends ago? Only explanation for that would be stealing signs dude.
  2. Iowa wound up losing 6-4. The two homers by Hoffpauir, the homer by Pie, and a homer by Fontenot were the only runs for Iowa tonight. Walrond went 5 giving up 7 hits, 4 runs, 4 BB's, and had 4 K's. Shipman then pitched 1 and a third allowing 2 hits and a walk, no runs, and striking out 1. Kerry Ligtenberg took the loss as he went an inning and two third's and allowed one hit, which was a solo homer, and had 3 K's. Jerome Williams pitched the 9th and also allowed a solo homer as well as striking out one. Montanez, Soto, Restovich, and one of Fontenot's two hits (the other being a solo homer) were singles. So have we given up on Williams as a starter? He's not even starting for Iowa anymore as he is just a spot starter there. He has been getting most of his action in the bullpen lately. I'm not quite sure if I understand putting a spot-starter in the Major League level and still having him not start consistantly at Triple A.
  3. Na, just those pesky Tigers stealing signs. Now we know why the Cubs pitching staff is so bad this year...those dadgum sign stealers.
  4. Ahahaha, classiest organization my ***. What a bunch of sore losers. I guess the Tigers were stealing signs today since they absolutely destroyed Carpenter as well, right? Give me a break.
  5. Jaxx win 3-2 in 10 on a walk-off by EPatt!!! Shaver went 6 innings only allowing 3 hits, 1 run, 0 ER, 4 BB's, and 5 K's. Ed Campusano, in his first action since being called up from Peoria, went 1 inning allowing 3 hits, 1 ER, 0 BB's, and had 1 K. Cherry went 2 innings only allowing 2 hits and had 4 K's. Jon Mueller got the win as he pitched the 10th allowing 2 hits, but no runs to score. EPatt went 3 for 4 including the walk-off homer, a triple, and a single. Only a double short of the cycle. He had 2 RBI's as well. Dopirak went 1/4 with a double. The other Jaxx htis: Walker, Jackson, Lewis, Cates, and Shaver each had 1 hit. Shaver helped his own cause by getting an RBI single. Boise down 6-3 in the 7th.
  6. I don't dislike Mariotti. I don't. I think he's one of the best sportswriters in America. Wow as a Bears fan like your name indicates, I can't believe you feel that way. Mariotti basically ran Ditka out of town and he's trying to do the same thing to Guillen (which I know you have no problem with). Mariotti is a scum, plain and simple. You are in a very, very, very small minority that likes that moron. I tried reading one of his columns on the train back from Chicago after going to a Cubs game about 2 months ago and I couldn't even finish reading the article it was so pathetic. I'm glad ESPN1000 fired him. I'd also watch Around the Horn a ton more if he wasn't on it. Bottom line is to say I don't like Jay Mariotti would be an understatement.
  7. Iowa defeats Omaha 8-5. O'Malley improves his mark to 4-3 as he went 5 and 2/3's allowing 7 hits, 4 runs, 3 ER, 1 BB, and 3 K's. Clay Rapada pitched his first inning at Iowa going 1 inning allowing 3 hits and 1 ER. Atlee pitched a third of an inning and getting out the one batter he faced. Scott Williamson, in his rehab stint, got the save as he pitched 2 innings only allowing 2 hits and striking out 2. Montanez hit a 2 run homer in the 1st inning, Theriot had 2 hits and 2 RBI's, Ojeda had 2 hits including a double and an RBI, Fontenot had 2 hits, Pie went 1/5 but had a triple and 3 RBI's. Coats and Soto also had hits. Peoria lost 4-0. After Wade Miller pitched his 3 scoreless innings, Jesse Estrada pitched 3 innings allowing 8 hits, 3 runs, 0 BB's, and had no K's. He took the loss and dropped his record to 4-1. Roger Evenson pitched the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings as he allowed 2 hits, 1 run, and had 2 K's. Valdez had 2 of the 4 Peoria hits. Reed and Gregg had the other 2 Peoria hits. No extra-base-hits for Peoria tonight. Jaxx are tied at 2 in the bottom of the 9th. Boise is down 6-2 in the 5th.
  8. Daytona won the 1st game of the 2nd half 4-1. Holliman went 7 1/3 only giving up 2 hits, 0 runs, 3 BB's, and had 4 K's. Hunton went 2/3's of an inning allowing a run (unearned), and a BB. Mendez pitched the 9th to get his 13th save of the year as he went 1 inning allowing 1 hit and had 1 K to lower his ERA to 0.64. Muyco went 2/3 and Ryan Harvey went 1/3 with a double, an RBI, and a walk. Jonathan Mota also went 1/3 with a double and an RBI. Not much offense from Daytona as that was their only hits, but they did have 6 BB's as well. Nice to see Muyco and Mota have nice games tonight. Iowa leads Omaha 8-5 in the 7th. West Tenn is tied at 1 in the 7th. Peoria is down 3-0 in the 8th.
  9. You're not the only one that thinks he's an idiot.
  10. What an embarassment. To only score 1 legit goal in 3 games is pretty disappointing and to not even make the Round of 16 is even worse.
  11. The same thing what Baker said 2 years ago with the, "black guys play better in the heat because they are used to it." If a white guy says that, he's facing criticism from everyone across the nation, Jesse Jackson would have been involved, and he's probably fired. Baker basically got away with it because of the fact that he is African-American. It's amazing how guys get away with this just because they are a different race and somehow given a free pass because Ozzie grew up in Venezuela and "doesn't know what a word means." He's been in the US for 25 years. He knows what that word meant.
  12. My bad on that. I was looking at MiLB Gameday as I typed that and that's what it said. Even better outings for Hill and Wuertz then if those are the correct numbers.
  13. Daytona loses 10-3. Sotolongo picked up the loss as he went 4 innings allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 BB's, and had 1 K. Billek (who it seems is now just the long man for Daytona) went 3 2/3's allowing 6 hits, 8 runs, 5 earned, 2 BB's, 1 K, and gave up a homer. His ERA is now up to 8.22 :x Layden picked up a K after giving up a hit. Culpepper went 2/4 with a triple and a run scored. Matt Craig, Jemel Spearman, Alan Rick, Nate Spears, Jonathan Mota, and Andrew Lane each had a hit with Spearman getting a double. Fuld and Harvey each went hitless tonight. The game was only 6-3 before Billek and the defense had a rough 8th inning when Palm Beach put up a 4 spot. Iowa won 1-0. Hill was dominant as usual going 7 innings allowing just 2 hits and had 0 BB's compared to 6 K's. He is now 4-1 at Iowa. Wuertz pitched the final two innings to get his 5th save of the season. He pitched 2 perfect innings of relief and had a K. McGehee had 2 hits including a double, Hoffpauir had 1 hit, which was a double, Theriot, Pie, Restovich (who had the only RBI), and Fontenot each had a base hit. Restovich's RBI was a sac fly. Definitely a pitcher's game tonight at Des Moines.
  14. Jaxx win 4-3! Mateo went 4 2/3's allowing 6 hits, 3 runs, 0 BB's, and had 6 K's. The Jaxx bullpen was great though as Schappert (who got the win to go 5-0) went 2 1/3 only allowing 1 hit and had 1 K, Jon Mueller (demoted from Iowa) had a perfect inning of relief, and Federico Baez (another one of the demotions from Iowa) pitched the 9th only allowing a hit and had a K to get his 1st save with the Jaxx this season. Every position player for the Jaxx had a hit today except Rojas. Negron went 3/4 with a double, an RBI, and a run. Jackson went 2/4 with 2 RBI's, 1 run, and had 1 BB. Chris Walker went 2/5 with a double, and EPatt went 1/3 with a SB as well. Jake Fox went 1/4 with a double.
  15. There's a thread in Baseball Discussions about this. IBTL.
  16. I check the score online from time to time, but I didn't watch any of the game yesterday, I watched an inning of the game on Monday, and I didn't even watch Prior's start. Kudos to the people who still watch the games, but I've had enough disappointment in this season to realize that these bums aren't worth my time.
  17. Oh I have a feeling this game thread only goes 16 pages or so, no matter what :(
  18. As a Bulls fan, that would make me very, very, very happy.
  19. WHY THE HECK WOULD YOU PASS IT TO DAMPIER?!?!?!
  20. Cute. Wade uses his arm to push off Dirk and Dirk is called with the foul.
  21. That offensive rebound by Dampier was just as big.
