  1. WOW. That is unreal. He has over 1100 yards in 5 games, with 7 games to go. If Wolfe can run for 150-200 yards against Iowa's defense in a couple of weeks, there's no doubt in my mind he has to at least be invited to New York.
  2. I'm not surprised. I think someone on here in the offseason made the claim that Tejada (when talking about the trade that never happened) could've been on the juice when discussing his 2nd half numbers in 05. Once again, this proves NSBB members know more than any other dumb analyst :) Seriously though, Clemens was always a suspicion. Two of his best years have been when he was in his 40s. How is that possible for a pitcher? Pettite isn't surprising either seeing how they train together all the time and how they are best friends. I'm not really surprised by any of these guys taking roids. Don't forget Roberts was leading the AL in homers for some time last year and this year, he's had like 3 homers on the season.
  3. Dodgers vs A's
  4. If the man is not invited to New York, it will be a travesty. Wolfe is already over 1000 yards this year, and there's nothing stopping him from getting 2000 yards on the season. He is having one heck of a year. That said, I'm surprised to see Horvath have such a good game. Like you said, based from what I saw, the game shouldn't have even been that close. SIU beat Indiana St. 55-3. Solid win for the Dawgs. Next up, Western Illinois for homecoming. Let's go 5-0 :)
  5. I'm pulling for ND, but you have to admit that penalty was BS. Umm....I did. My bad...I thought you were being sarcastic.
  6. I'm pulling for ND, but you have to admit that penalty was BS.
  7. I like all of this. Dempster to KC does make sense and adding Brown or Sanders as a bench player would be pretty significant, and it would give our bench some pop. I think Howry can be a good closer...he certainly has shown much more than Dempster has this season. Moving Eyre would be a good alternative as well, if we can't move Dempster.
  8. Illinois beat a somewhat decent Big 10 team on the road. How cold is it in hell right now?
  9. How the heck did IU beat Ball St AND Western Michigan???
  10. 20-10 Illini in the 4th. Juice Williams is God.
  11. "Does anyone want Dusty back?" No.
  12. Other than possibly Moore we really don't have any kids that could provide good power off the bench. Pagan might provide okay power, but not the kind of power I would want when I need a big hit late. One or possibly two, depending on Moore vets would be useful for that purpose. As far as the bolded part, I don't think thats neccessarily true. If you go after a bench player who has had only one or two good seasons that both came in the last 2-3 years then it would be true. If it is a guy who has consistently put up solid numbers off the bench other than one or two years he is a better bet to do well than a rookie who is not used to coming off the bench and is used to being an everyday player. That's pretty much why I said "Unless the Cubs can get somebody likely to put up an 800 OPS, and/or dominate against LHP or RHP specifically". If you can find a guy who has consistently put up solid numbers, go ahead and get him. I guess where we differ is our believe in the ability for the Cubs to find those players. Hendry's record has shown he wont, with Hollandsworth being his only good bench signing. I think there are enough good bench guys out there, they just need to have a big hit in a playoff game so Hendry will notice them. Technically, Todd Walker was a bench signing by Hendry also, but I understand your point that the bench has been consistently pretty bad. Blanco is a very good back up catcher. Probably the best back up catcher in the league. I really hope Jim holds on to him. We have our backup catcher. His name is Geovany Soto. He'll be a much cheaper option than Blanco and we can use the money that we used on Blanco at someone more useful.
  13. I just noticed the Reds are still in this as well, and they have 3 left with Pittsburgh...Reds are winning 3-1 in the 6th. A Reds win plus an Astros and Cardinals loss would put the Reds within a game and a half of the Cards.
  14. Put me on the bandwgn of Baker as an analyst; an ESPN analyst no less. I think I'd watch BBTN every night if he became an analyst for ESPN.
  15. Please win the division Houston. It would be nice to shut up the Cardinal fans on campus.
  16. Agreed. He is easily the most overrated player in the game. I'll go one step further; he's the most overrated player in all of sports. The Saints look like a real NFL team this year..I'm definitely not that embarassed that the Pack lost by only a TD to the Saints. They could be the surprise team of the league this year.
  17. PLAY NICHOLSON Amen. 2 losses in a row to Ball State would definitely spark the outrage of Horvath starting. For some reason, I'm not confident that NIU's passing game can do much against Ball St's horrible pass defense. Maybe if Horvath and the O-line can set up some screens to Wolfe, NIU will be alright. I still think Wolfe should amass somewhere around 200 yards, but if Ball St. does stop Wolfe for around 4 yards a carry, the game will be much more interesting than what people think.
  18. SIU should have a cakewalk against Indiana State. They have now lost 25 in a row, and they have absolutely no defense at all. They may score their fair share of points (they did score over 30 against Purdue), but SIU's running game (best in I-AA) should run all over the Sycs. NIU also *should* have a win against Ball State, sorry ndi. Ball St. lost to North Dakota St. last weekend, so it would be pretty miserable if NIU fell to 2-3 with 2 of the losses coming against Ohio and Ball St. I do remember the game in Muncie two years ago where Ball St. played their game of the season and took us to OT, but NIU still won. Hopefully it doesn't get that close this year, and hopefully NIU can avenge the loss that we had against them last year.
  19. Favre won the NBC Player of the Day award, beating out Portis, Houshmanzadeh, and John Kasay :D
  20. Anytime the Viqueens lose is a good day.
  21. PACKERS WIN!!!!
  22. AHMAN GREEN, YOU SUCK!!! THE ONE TIME WHEN YOU CAN'T ABSOLUTELY FUMBLE.
  23. Corey Williams sacks Kitna on 4th and 2 at the Lions 42! Lions are out of timeouts and the Pack are close to FG position, so this game is just about over :)
  24. Favre with a 10 yard TD pass to Green giving the Pack a 31-21 lead! Favre's line: 23/33, 322 yards, 3 TD's/0 INT's. Hell yes :D
  25. SIU blew out Arkansas Pine-Bluff and NIU blew out Indiana State. Needless to say, I'm glad SIU didn't overlook Pine-Bluff after the win against Indiana last week.
