  1. WCIU. Non-Chicagoans are SOL. just like every other game that isn't on WGN or TNT/ESPN Well, I don't like to brag, but I get Comcast SportsNet here in Muncie. I know my friends in NIU that live in the dorms don't have CSN at all. You should definitely consider yourself lucky. Ugly start for both teams, but the Bulls lead 21-9 with a little under 1 minute in the first.
  2. I'd be all for a 4th round, but I'm not sure if the consesus would agree. The original plan was for just three rounds anyway. I'm all for a 4th round as well.
  3. If this game doesn't get rained out, let's just hope that we can actually score some runs.
  4. When you only have so many at bats to impress, you get aggresive. That's not a fair characterization. He's been doing it since ST and even in his first couple of starts... much too anxious I don't take ST too much into account. Everybody wants to get their hacks in Arizona. He was horrible in the spring and it has continued through the early going. It's not like he was unlucky, he was just bad; swinging at bad pitches and not getting walks. I call it as I see it... Matt isn't playing his game--1 walk and few hits. I just want him to look like he has a clue about the strike zone. It's one thing to hit a line drive right at a defender it's another thing to pop out or constantly ground out weakly... BTW, it's not just Murton, it applies to many of the hitters. You can't take ST into account. Didn't we hit something like .315 in spring? We have to be hitting at least 100 points lower than that right now.
  5. Getting our hopes up. What the Cubs do best.
  6. Now that we scored one, we mind as well score four, right?
  7. Wheeler in a non-save situation. He has yet to allow a run against the Cubs in more than 23 innings. Look for that streak to continue.
  8. Dude, the cold weather is playing havoc in our guys' minds. They're not used to it.
  9. I believe Guzman can be a solid reliever, like I said a few nights ago, but he needs to be pushed into the rotation right now.
  10. but what can they do? we could have the 27 yankees and they wouldn't score. it's the cubs, not the players. I was playing a baseball video game from 04 a few days ago and played as the Cubs and just kept thinking, "how did this team not win the world series?" Its crazy. A lineup of Patterson (when he had a decent year), Walker, Sosa, Alou, Lee, Ramirez, Barrett, Gonzales, with a rotation of Wood, Prior, Zambrano, Maddux, Clement. That was such a good team and we didn't even make the playoffs. Substitute Nomar in for Gonzalez at July 31st as well. That was a pretty amazing team on paper.
  11. Making Rick White looks like the best MRP in the league as well. Great job, idiots.
  12. That's what's happened that last three years. Why should that change now?
  13. This is just downright pathetic. Izturis is on this team for his defense and then he commits three errors today. Marquis sucks, but we all expected that to happen. And as usual, we make some random bum pitcher look like Cy Young. Our "best offense in the NL" once again looks like the same complete utter crap that we saw for all of last year. It's only eight games in, but Houston is not a very good team. Their offense is not that good and their pitching is garbage. Being shut out through 5 innings for two days in a row definitely concerns me.
  14. Lineups Astros 2B-Biggio 3B-Ensberg 1B-Berkman LF-Lee RF-Scott CF-Burke SS-Everett C-Ausmus P-Sampson Cubs CF-Soriano RF-Jones 1B-Lee 3B-Ramirez LF-Floyd C-Barrett 2B-DeRosa SS-Izturis P-Marquis Bit confused as to why Murton isn't starting for the second day in a row. And with that, I'm off to class.
  15. Let's stick to calling him Boyd. Serves the moron right. His 'performance' today puts him into the 'elite' ranks of Angel Gonzalez/Bruce Froemming/Hunter Wendlestedt territory.
  16. Why was Marmol's outing so short? Was it because he started to struggle or did he reach his pitch count too early? He finished at 69 pitches. I'm going to assume that he probably reached his pitch count.
  17. Iowa wins it 9-4. Webb got the win in relief. Marmol's line: 4 IP, 3 hits, 2 ERs, 2 BBs, 6 Ks. Patterson finished 3/5 with an RBI double, two runs scored, and his 1st stolen base of the season. Felix finished 3/4 with a walk, 3 runs scored, and his first steal of the year. Pie is now batting .500 to start the season. I'd say he's off to an ok start.
  18. What are Epatt and Pie's numbers on the season. Epatt seems to be on fire. EPatt was actually struggling before this game. His AVG is at .278 right now, and that's with going 3/4. Don't have his current OBP and OPS numbers, but they definitely have went up tonight. Pie is off to a red hot start as his average is now up to .462. He drew a walk in his last PA. Iowa now leads it 7-3 in the 8th. Moore drove in a pair on an RBI single in the 7th as well.
