  1. Yep! ESPN 1000 said (per a friend) that he started serving it today... No, ESPN 1000 said that if the injury is severe enough, he will then drop the suspension. He has not dropped it yet.
  2. Iowa wins the suspended game 9-7 in 10 innings. Rapada gave up 3 in the 9th (only 1 earned), which sent it to the 10th. Piggy pitched a scoreless 10th to get the win. Cherry also went two innings of scoreless relief. Kroeger had a sac fly and Felix had an RBI groundout in the 10th to give Iowa all they would need. Peoria won 8-3. Pina got the win as he went 6 allowing only 4 hits, 2 runs, struck out 1, and walked 1. He did give up two HR's. Ruhlman allowed a run in the 7th on 3 hits and Maestri pitched two perfect innings in the 8th and 9th. Blake Lalli hit two solo homers. James Adduci fell a homer shy of the cycle. He also drove in 3. Wellington Castillo also had a solo bomb. Every Chief had a hit except Canzler and Schermerhorn.
  3. For real. Earlier in the season there was like 25 page game threads for the whole game. I just took a quick gander back around last August, and the game threads were ranging between 11 and 15 pages. Without Fred's PBP, those threads probably would be 5-6 pages shorter.
  4. Unfortunate, but it was the obvious choice. I highly doubt that the Cubs would've DFA'ed two catchers in back-to-back days.
  5. Iowa is completing a suspended game from May 24th right now. At the time it was suspended, the score was 7-1 Iowa in the 5th. The game is now in the 7th and it is now a 7-4 Iowa lead after Geoffrey Jones gave up 3 runs in the 5th.
  6. You would have to think that there would be other pieces besides Jackson in a trade that would involve Garland or Danks.
  7. I feel pretty indifferent about the deal. He's a big upgrade, at least IMO, over Hill and Bowen. But is he an upgrade at all over Soto? I can see Hendry's reasoning in adding Kendall as he might not want to have a rookie catcher be the #1 guy in the thick of a pennant race. And then of course, we all know what Hendry's history is of dealing prospects. Hopefully Blevins doesn't turn out to be good. If Kendall can continue to hit .275, it will work out to be a good deal for us.
  8. Samardzija with a very mediocre outing as Daytona loses 10-2 in game 1. Jeff gave up 9 hits, 5 runs, 3 ER, 3 K's/1 BB, and gave up a HR. Phelps came in to pitch the final inning and a third and gave up 5 runs in that span. Ryan Harvey went 2/3 with a double. Chirinos and Reynolds went 1/3. Alan Rick and Matt Matulia had the lone RBI's for Daytona. Iowa lines up like this: Patterson-2B Pie-CF Cedeno-SS Murton-RF Kroeger-LF Nelson-1B Moore-3B Richie-C Wells-P
  9. Well, at least one of the two worthless catchers is out of here. Let's get a W.
  10. It's not the FA class that I'm upset about. Let's be honest, this class was complete garbage and it is real pathetic how guys like Rashard Lewis are getting max deals. But I'm upset with Paxson's inability to pull a trigger on a deal. If those rumors were right, Paxson had to have been crazy to not pull the deal on Gasol. Does anyone really expect this team (with no real upgrades) to go farther than we were this past season? Cleveland isn't going to get any worse and we still can't match up with Detroit's guards. What deal are you talking about? Some random sports writer speculated Noc, Duhon, Noah, and "filler" for Gasol. Is that the deal you are talking about? If that's the deal, I think Pax would have done it. However, unless that "filler" is Ben Gordon or Luol Deng, I doubt Memphis would do it. And if you trade either Gordon or Deng (along with Noc and Noah), I don't think we are much of a better team, if at all. You can't force teams to trade us their stars for our scrubs. I think this team will be much better next year. Deng is still improving, Thomas is improving, Thabo is improving, and Noc could not have possibly played any worse against Detroit. Add in Noah and possibly some contribution from Curry and Gray and you got an improved basketball team. If the Bulls can get off to a better start this year, they should win the 2 seed. Yeah, that's the deal I was talking about. I still think Gasol will be dealt, so I'm not giving up on this offseason yet. But as of right now, I don't think we've improved at all and I still think we're the 3rd best team in the East. And I agree with your assessments on Tyrus and Thabo. Tyrus really seems to have been working on his game this whole offseason and I look for him to have a solid season. But I don't think you can count on any of the rookies that are coming in to be contributors on this team.

Does anyone really expect this team (with no real upgrades) to go farther than we were this past season? Cleveland isn't going to get any worse and we still can't match up with Detroit's guards. yes, since most of the bulls core players are young and still improving. cant say that about anyone on detroit, or cleveland really (face it cavs fan lebron is extremely mature for his age and his peak wont be much better than he is now) I hope you're right; I think the sky is the limit for Deng. Keep in mind I'm a huge Gordon fan, but unless he can step up his defensive efforts, I don't really see us being able to stop any team's bigger guards. That's why i think he's expendable in any sort of trade. We're still going to need that one player to get us over the hump IMO. Would Gasol be it? He may be the best and only realistic option for us out there. I thought getting Gasol for Noc, Noah, and Duhon would've been an amazing deal for us. If we want to be title contenders, Paxson is going to have to pull the trigger on something.

  13. Ouch, Iowa loses 4-3 in 11. Randy Wells blew a 3-0 Iowa lead in the bottom of the 8th as he gave up 3 runs in that inning. Geoff Jones was only able to record one out in the 11th as he took the loss, giving up two hits, a BB, and the winning run. Petrick pitched two scoreless innings, giving up three hits, one walk, and struck out 1. Cory Bailey did a great job after Cherry's 1st inning as he threw 5 innings of shutout ball. EPatt and Kroeger each homered. Murton and Cedeno each went 0/5.
  14. Sure going to be fun with another 2nd round exit in 2008...
  15. Yay for Donaldson. Peoria lost to Quad Cities 8-5. Carrillo went 5 allowing 5 hits, 3 ER's, 1 K/4 BB's. Maradeo was charged with the loss as he gave up two runs in the 7th. Offensivley, Lalli and Schermerhorn each had two hits (one double apiece) and Wellington Castillo drove in two runs as well.
  16. Unfortunately, it's only going to be a matter of time.
