  1. You're damn right you're kicking away from Wolfe.
  2. Like OO said a couple days ago: "I always love how, when the Cubs reach their lowest point of the season, the Pirates have been there to pick them back up again. Smacked around by Detroit and the White Sox? Pirates to the rescue! Losing streaks on the road at STL and SD? The Pirates were there!" The Pirates are useful for something.
  3. Yeah, Kyle Orton kind of sucks at football.
  4. I always wanted to go to a game during the Air and Water show. Pretty cool.
  5. Great news. Now get in game shape and get ready for the Bears.
  6. I agree. You think Hendry would've learned his lesson after the whole Sosa episode but apparently not.
  7. I like the guy in the Miami shirt with the blank expression on his face like nothing out of the ordinary is going on. I went to a Cubs-Reds game a few weeks ago and sat in the bleachers. It was real civil, people had their kids there and it was a pretty good time. Of course, it was also a day game. I've never been in the bleachers during a night game so I can't really comment on that. Idiots like that help bring the stereotype that everyone who sits in the bleachers is a frat boy that doesn't know what's going on in the game.
  8. Jesus, 25 years since we were last swept at home by the Phillies?
  9. Are you talking about Milton Bradley? The guy that is OPSing .930 in home games? It's amazing how people still bash Bradley. He's not the problem. Of course you'd like his power numbers to be better, but my God. He nearly has a .400 OBP and his OPS is close to .800. I can't complain with Milt.
  10. Cubs look like they're just rolling over for the Phillies. Everything seems to be going their way and against us like that bloop double they just had. Fitting end to a really bad series.
  11. Can't defend him for that but he's been blasting the whole team for the last few games up until today, which has been nice to hear.
  12. COBS
  13. Couldn't we have explored a trade option? Using the money we didn't give to Dempster? I'm not saying we should've signed Dempster. The contract sucks. I'm saying signing Lowe would have been even dumber. Groundball pitcher at Wrigley Field. Sounds good to me.
  14. Keep thinking that. Like I brought up in another thread, the new owners are unlikely to fire the GM when there's likely next to no payroll flexibility in the offseason. Why hire someone new if they can't do anything about the mess they inherit? One can hope, right? I'm not sure how Hendry keeps getting a pass. He throws money around like it's candy and he almost always throws it at the wrong guys.
  15. Sure glad we have the guy that everyone in their right minds saw regressing this year instead of that Lowe guy in ATL. More great GM'ing by Hendry.
  16. Well the good news is at least we'll probably get some much needed changes in the offseason starting with the GM. I'm not even upset about this anymore so that's not a good sign.
  17. I found it humiliating, embarrassing, and disgusting but maybe that's just me.
  18. Nobody can deny that when that white trash father and son attacked the Royals 1st base coach, Cubs fans didnt use it as a stereotype for Sox fans. The smart ones didn't. But I know several and have seen several posts on here in the past that have used that stereotype before.
  19. Well I'm a dumbass. For what it's worth, I said on facebook that there was going to be a meteor shower at Wrigley tonight seven hours before the game. Guess I was right about that at least.
  20. You have keen eyes. They played a report on the radio earlier stating that security did indeed detain the wrong guy, and the guy who threw the beer walked away. The report went on to say that the Cubs will issue a photo of the guy--with the help of the CPD and hope to prosecute him to the fullest extent possible. We noticed this right away. It's pretty sad that the game was an afterthought to me. That was pretty damn embarrassing.
  21. He's a nose tackle so it's not like he's going to learn much. Basically, he's going to have a month to get ready for opening day. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't worried but if he signs within the next week, I don't think it'll be that big of a deal.
  22. We'll win 2 of 3. But if for some reason we did fall 6 out, I'd start looking at the Wild Card.
  23. Well if there were fans that felt any pain, they must feel an inordinate amount of pain whenever they see either of the Patterson brothers come up to the plate for a Triple A affiliate near you.
  24. literally 2 hours ago i heard somebody on mlb network saying that the white sox just acquired "a superstar caliber hitter", in those exact words Congratulations, you got the wrong network. I'm all for ESPN bashing but they've never panned Alex Rios out to be some sort of superstar. Never. Just because ONE GUY on MLB Network said he's a "superstar caliber player" definitely doesn't mean that and basically everyone else in national sports TV has never said Rios is that good. Now if he puts up those numbers from 2-3 years ago in CF for the Sox, that's a real steal. I'm not a big Rios fan but that contract definitely isn't as bad when he's placed in CF.
